  1.   sob It wont let me download it.
  2. My old Cortina would probably disagree with that statement.......he used to get hurt quite often when I would "drift" in the wet :D Of course that was before I became a responsable citizen and I no longer drift in the wet (at least not with the family in the car) Oh yeah............drift slow, grip fast.
  3. Well he is a mechanic by trade and he did do all the work himself including machine work. I think the motor was in a minisprint car. I might give him a call on monday and see if I can get some more info off him about the engine specs. As for street driveability well I am not that fussed as my car probably wont see the street for a few years, strictly motokhana & autocross. Oh and he said no one would probably believe it :P
  4. I took the falcon down to the local goodyear tyre & auto this morning to get a nail removed from the front tyre and discussion turned to corolla's and k motors. He told me he had built and raced a reliable n/a 3k with 165hp @ 8000rpm at the rear wheels, dyno tested. The 3k wasnt in a corolla but in some type of sprint car and it ran on methanol (sp?) but would still have similar hp on premium I would think. The guy says he spent a heap of time, money and a few blown k blocks finding the right set up but when it was done he could run the engine at 8000rpm continuously for the whole race meeting for the whole year without a rebuild. Said it would actually spin up to close to 11,000rpm if he really pushed it but was of no benefit to do so. Best of all he has all the specs at home includin the dyno charts and has offered to share them with me if I want them. Some of the specs include 3k block rebored to 1220cc, mazda 121 pistons, 5k head, twin webers with fuel regulator and a whole heap of other assorted bits and pieces. He claims it can be built for about $1,000. Now I just need to convince the Mrs that it's worth spending even more $$$ on a car that will sit in the garage more than it gets driven. Mmmmmm......165hp 3k motokhana corolla, watch out Colin
  5. Those were supposed to be my wheels :) except the network crashed at the office so I couldnt bid sob Anyway, welcome to rollaclub
  6. Yeah man I thought you drove like crap as well :D Nah mate it was a good day out. Seeing your rolla smoke up like that I actually thought "Oh no he has broken something" but as Kangaroosa pointed out it was just all those right hand turns loading the oil up. Hope you do end up winning it mate.....don't want to be beaten by a starion do you :D PS I am now even more inspired to get my rolla back together so I can start doing the motokhanas :)
  7. More likely to be too much $$$$$$ than too much trouble :P
  8. So does that mean that this is illegal as its not exactly a sealed system??? or has it been sealed?
  9. Hi, I'm Stuart and I'm an alcoholic.............Oops sorry wrong forum :(( Name is Stuart I also have a 1974 KE30 Coupe, unfortunately it is in pieces on my garage floor at the moment and I live literally 5 mins from Melbourne Airport.
  10. Yep you got it spot on Coln72 thats exactly where it is and it is called Cooper St. It's about 10 mins from my place, I might drop by as well and start the Coln72 cheer squad with Kanga :angrybird:
  11. Well in that case I stand by my first statement......Damn you to Hell.
  12. Damn you..........damn you straight to hell :) Nah well done m8....give ya $70 for em :)
  13. don't like my driving then get off the footpath If you can read this I have lost my caravan
  14. I don't know if this belongs here or in a new post but I was having a yak to a bloke over a latte this morning (Oh man that sounds wanky), anyway we were talking cars as you do and I was telling him about my little project and he came up with the following suggestion, claims he ran it in his car a few years back. Air compressor in the boot coverted to 12v power with a hose running through a valve situated next to the driver which then ran to a cover on the carby. The cover he claims was shaped like a cone with a valve on the side which would be used to change the airflow to the carb and the air hose fitted on top. During normal driving conditions the valve would be open to allow the air in as per normal however when the compressed air was released via the valve in the cabin the air pressure would close the valve and result in compressed air induction giving a performance BOOST. He said that you needed to play around with the air compressor settings until you obtained optimum performance but that it worked a treat when set up right. He claimed that you could get maybe a minute and a half of boost out of this set up before you had to allow the compressor to recompress to the required level or whatever the hell it does. Now while he was telling me this my BS sensors were tingling a little but I'm not sure, so I thought I would ask you. My initial thoughts were that the fuel mixture would go out the window with so much air going in at such a fast rate and would therefore cause the engine to run lean and no real power gain. I could be wrong as I so often am but let me know.
  15. LOL.....nah mate I reckon they'll look sweet :)
  16. Ohhhhhh shiney :P Mikey, thanks for doing that mate :) I've been a bit busy and hadnt emailed him myself. Let me know when you have a price although I think the cost from the US to Aus maybe a bit high but you never know.
  17. I can spend about $200 more on this car without the wife knowing that I'm spending way too much on the car...........so I was thinking either extractors or head work on the mighty 3K. I'm getting the cam reground as we speak for $75 at crow cams so thats all done however using the search function I read several posts that suggest that with a cam in the engine I really need to have extractors. So since I was planning on cleaning up the head myself anyway I figured extractors are the go. So I ring up a couple of places here in Melb and nearly fell of my chair when I'm quoted between $550 and $630 for extractors with a 2" pipe. I thought this was a bit excessive so I began searching back through the forums and sure enough I found one reference to the price of extractors of around $200. Now if this is correct then why the hell am I getting quoted between $550 and $630 for a set of extractors & a 2" pipe for a 3k in a KE30. Am I getting ripped off or does that sound right.
  18. Yep, didnt have to touch the mounts still all bolted in. Grimwolge is correct in that the head came off to change over to a 3k head (was a 4k head :( ) which is being cleaned up. Grimwolge.......what do you mean marking the timing chain & pulley....I marked the both the cam & crank pulleys but why the chain? Surely it doesnt matter where the chain is
  19. For generations people have asked can you remove a 3k cam from a ke30 without removing the engine.....the answer is yes you can. Oh and do these look like flat top pistons? Timing Cover is off :( Timing Chains are off Now I just gotta put it all back together
  20. Nah mate I wont be selling it, in fact I'm attempting my biggest mechanical project ever this weekend. I will attempt to remove the cam to take it to get reground without taking the engine out of the car!!!!! Then I'll put it back together with the head that I had sent down from QLD (Thanks again Nick) install some extractors and away we go :moon: Well thats the plan in theory anyway.
  21. Have you checked all the obvious places like the fuel line and the tank itself? Is the smell stronger outside or inside? Is the smell inside residule smell from outside? best suggestion I got is to check the fuel lines & the tank, eliminate those first.
  22. Hehehehe.......no problem Styler, if your prepared to pay $9,000 for a '74 rolla that doesnt run then I got this bridge for sale as well, shaped like a coathanger only $200,000. :moon:
