  1. I f@$king love this thing, theres one getting around my town at the moment a chicky drives it most the time i think
  2. Cheers guys, got my hands on an ae86 pedal box today might try that first.
  3. Had a bit of a win today, Went and saw Brad down at BDC performance at lunch with a list of stuff i needed and he pulled alot of it off one of his 4age motors that was going in one of his ae86 sprinters, and sold them too much which got me out of trouble!! Also getting a pedal box out of one of his sprinters to see if it will do the job in my KE
  4. Lets put it this way, if you don't know much about rotaries, don't bother. Having owned a Series 4 13b Turbo Rx7, they are very reliable if you treat them right and know what you are doing, Rotaries got a bad name especially in the 90's when workshops were trying to chase big power and big numbers and development wasn't anywhere near what it is today ( 6 second passes in the pac cars ) But as people have said, yes they are expensive on fuel and upkeep, and if you don't know what you are doing with them labour at workshops is expensive. Also, with a rotary conversion you will have to look at rear end setups to use in the ke corolla. You will need a custom tailshaft (around $350) and a diff out of a hilux or something similar and it will need to be cut down, the cheapest way to do this is move your leaf springs inboard and most expensive way is 4 link and tubs etc... That brings us to the 4AGE, they are a quick and mostly hassle free conversion, but you won't get the same power and probably won't have as much fun as the 13b, parts are getting harder to find at wreckers and importers so you will need to look within communities like this and toymods.. I'm doing the conversion at the moment and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than a rotary conversion.. Cheers
  5. Yeah it's totally not going to happen in the time frame, 60 hour weeks at work at the moment :jamie: But i will see how i go! Looks like i might have to source a manual cross member if my mate can't fabricate something out of the auto one, I will have to count the splines on it, i put the tailshaft over it before and it felt a little bit loose which worries me... I'm going to sit the motor a little bit forward, not too much though so i might not have to cut as much as i think out I've already got the carpet pulled back ready to go :lolcry: Thanks SLO, appreciate it mate, i've just ordered one from ebay, just a universal 1.5L i think, Should this do the job?
  6. Chasing info on the following Pedal Box: My ke30 was an auto, what pedal box would suit the 4age hydraulic clutch application? I can get a trailer master cylinder just need to know what box to use? Will a corona or something do the job? Radiator: What radiator can i use that will have the outlets on the same side ? Or will i have to fork out $300+ for one from ebay ? Fuel System: What do i need to get the fuel to the motor? VL pump, Surge tank, lines, what else? Tailshaft: Will the stock one fit my T50? Kind of in a hurry for this to get the thing running, cheers guys.
  7. Ok had to do some grocery shopping and clean the house today so i didn't get the motor sitting in the bay yet but i did get some better photos of the engine. I also need help with a few other things that are important Fuel setup i've been thinking, anything else i've missed? *VL pump *Surge tank *Lines How do people usually mount the T50 box with the standard gearbox member? Does the standard ke30 tailshaft fit into the T50? Can anyone help me spot whats missing to get it running? Whats a whole 16v usually go for at the wreckers? *Exhaust manifold *Dizzy *Injectors *Alternator *Alternator bracket *Loom *ECU *Starter
  8. Haha yeah my girlfriend came down for a look and left her empty there too, although, it's fairy floss flavor and tastes awesome *flame suit*
  9. Thanks buddy, Tell me about it! It was cart the beer fridge down 3 sets of stairs or go up for a couple and come back down haha :jamie:
  10. Well i guess this can be an update, the 3k and box is out, I did it with a socket set, 2 x screwdrivers and an engine crane, I think i did well with the limited tools and such a small space, as you will see from the pictures!! Had my mate who is fabricating the engine mounts come around and have a squiz at it, the mounts will be made up this week hopefully and he offered to do the wiring too which will save me some time carting it to my other mate in Sydney! Main thing now it to get the 4AGE mounted in the bay, not sure if i am going to use this engine as i need to hunt a few bits for it or just buy a runner from an importer, doing 60 hour weeks come in handy when you need cash for the car :y: Measurements and dummy fit tomorrow for the new motor and box. Few pics, have a look how much higher it sits with no engine :jamie: And most of that oil on the ground was from the previous owner of the garage, i was surprised how little oil i spilt..
  11. Top work mate, looks awesome, how does it go?
  12. Don't worry, dropped oil out of the transmission tonight, dropped engine oil, undid engine mounts, engine is free now and i just have to take the tailshaft out and the motor and box will be out in one piece tomorrow night!!! :jamie::D:D But there's now a dilemma.... The project must be running in FOUR f@$kING WEEKS!!!! My old man decided to sell his 4x4 which i've been using as a daily so i have to get my arse into gear and get this motor that's only half complete into a runner and driving in my car so i can get to work :lolcry::S
  13. Wow, Thats f@$king tidy, and cheap, GL with sale!
  14. Haha no worries buddy, it was a quick snap of that car that i told you about He's moved it out the back, i was driving down the backroad for a work job and i spotted and thought i'd send you the pic..
  15. Yeah but what if it's not possible.... (Garage job), I left my old job that had 2 hoists :S Ramps and dollies?
  16. Thanks mate! Went down and had another look at it tonight, got a quick question, with the auto box, is there a little black flap on it where i can undo the bolts and make sure the torque convertor stays with the box when i undo the bellhousing bolts? I'm trying not to get any oil on the floor if possible, is this the best way about it?? Also, when putting in the 4age, should i hook up the box to the back and lower it in as one piece or should i put the box in first etc etc.... Half day tomorrow, hoping to have it knocked over!! Still deciding weather or not to do they bay while the engine is out, what are your thoughts on VS commodore Cherry black/purple? Cheers.
  17. Todays update: Undid everything, took out battery, radiator, shroud etc etc ready for the engine to come out on Thursday afternoon as it's my next bit of time off, and while i was in the garage i found my card reader so i can stop posting these shitty phone pictures !! Here's the shot as she sits at the moment, Last shit picture (i swear :S)
  18. Broke my heart to see this local ke smashed up today
  19. Had a few positives and a few negatives today! Shifter turned up from Rob (Corollaart), He's a bloody champion and a genuine bloke for sending it to me, Will send through some $$$ tonight man. Also did a random stop in at a bloke i know around town and asked if he had much stuff for a 4AGE and he pretty much had all the bits i am chasing so he told me to make up a list and come back and see him and i should be able to sort something out with him and get this thing running!! Setbacks was lack of tools and time to get started on the damn thing, I've recently started a new job and am strapped for cash but i had plenty of time as i am a casual but the money and shifts are picking up big time so goodbye time to work on the beast and hello $$$, I can't win ;) I've got weekends and night's still to work on it, but having such a shit space to work on it is a bit of a downer, as i live in an apartment complex where i have limited room, i'll have to source some ramps to borrow to drop the box out sometime in the next week!! Pic of Shifter
  20. Wow, Just spent literally hours reading this thread, it was 4:30 am last night when i was on page 66 and i forced myself to go to bed, Good to see you doing the car the right way and congrats on getting it finished and running
  21. Wow just read the thread from start to end, Awesome stuff mate!
  22. Yeah they do take a bit of getting used to, and also, if they get bumped you have to pull over to adjust them which is the most annoying part!! And here's what a sev should look like imo :)
  23. Thanks Jip, Yeah i like the old school dash and it's overrated too, not going to wreck it with shit tacho's or anything when the new motor is in
