  1. yes but with a lot of stuffing around. Rally guys used to do as they were stuck with the standard block.
  2. Well its that time of the year again when we fire up for the Breakthrough this weekend. For those of you who do not what the Breakthrough is, it is a 24 hour race for for students in either human powered or hybrid vehicles in Maryborough. I am managing a team again this year so you are all welcome to make the drive and to come and say g'day. I will be in pit bays 7, 8, and nine with the other school teams near the pool. This year we are trying to better our third outright we achieved last year when we covered close to 800km's with a brand new bike. So come and make the drive west and see us weave our way through 90 other teams. Cheers col'n
  3. why waste money ona 4k when a 5k or 7k are soooo much better.
  4. Think you will need the lot. That is what I did anyway.
  5. I just ran cut stockies and standard shocks front. Rear ran softened leaves and standard shocks. Always felt that the rear of a Corolla was too stiff.
  6. I'm only an ex rolla racer now - damn kids
  7. ......with a dirty great chain wrapped around the chassis and attached to the house........ :y: From now on my little rollie stays on the inside part of the driveway. Preferably on the non-cemented driveway so it's harder to push!
  8. Kill switch for the win. The old man used to make up his own alarms operated of the door switches. One had a bank of four fire sirens mounted in the boot. Shit that was loud.
  9. In the past I have had to cut up an exhaust gasket to suit a set of extractors (headers in USA speak). I was continuously blowing gaskets - shortest lasted 10 minutes - until I noticed that on some ports there was only a small amount being clamped. Cut up the gasket and positioned it to suit each port and problem was solved :)
  10. my 75 Ke35 was also badged a delux and it was a factory manual.
  11. As far as I can make out it would be: 78180 - 12060 this is for "KE20, 20B,25B..RHD..MTM..4F..SL" Also listed is 78180 - 12040 which is for KE2#...RHD.. -SL One of my books gives specs for different models and the SL version features a 3K-B engine.
  12. how many revs do you want to pull? My 5k would do 8000rpm regulary with hydrolics. So why bother.......
  13. Will check my parts manuals tomorrow for you. Guess it wont help but I used the standard single cable when I fitted my twins. Do you need the cable with the socket end on it???????
  14. The only way the old man could get his FE Holden (std except for 7" chromies) insured was through an insurance broker. Cause of its age none of the major companies would touch it.
  15. Racing an XA Falcon back in the day down the main street of town. I was pulling close to 6000rpm in second when the prick in the XA pulled a key banger on me. Heard a bang and instantly dived for the guages, the mirrors etc. Looked across at the guy on the XA and they were pissing themselves laughing :)
  16. Would of been longer ago than that Rob.......... I relocated the lower control arm mounts on my 20 (moved out about 25mm and up slightly), toe out and as much castor as I could wind on. It wasn't so bad. Sorry I can not be more specific but it was more a suck it and see exercise for me. As Rob said you will never get rid of it but you can get it to a point where you can drive around it. I was also running moddified (softened) rear springs as well so this may of affected it as well :D
  17. all our thoughts are with you mate in your time of need.
  18. Thanks for the thoughts guys Well the poor little bugger is showing no signs of improvement at all. They have started giving him morphine to settle him down. Not really reassuring when the fourth doctor (another surgeon) isn't sure why he isnt responding to treatment and that she may have to open him up again to look for any further infection. Makes me think that we are not being told everything..............
  19. can't remember when the polution rules (1976????) kicked in but early ke3* shouldn't have them unless they have been retrofitted.
  20. guessing at this but as long as you don't go stupid with the overlap it would be good
  21. its easy - try searching as its been covered heaps :D
  22. best of luck with the search mate. Sucks heaps when something happens to family.
  23. You guys need to harden up - try driving a car with vacumm operated wipers. Accelerate they stop. Lift off they go spastic ;p
  24. My 2 year old has had his appendix out a couple of days ago. Took him to the local hospital after a night of screaming and walking around doubled over and holding stomach. They x rayed him and sent him home as they could see nothing. They decided not to do a blood test. He spent the rest of the day doubled over in pain. Contacted the GP that night after work and he decided to get him checked out in another hospital. Now we live in a country town that is equally distant (45 min) to two major centres, one of which I have family in. Guess which one they sent us to. Yep the one without family and they refused to change hospitals!!!! So we load up the three kids (oldest just turned three, youngest 9 mths) and rushed to hospital as instructed. Arrived at 7:00ish and sat and sat and sat. At 10:30 inquired again when he was going to be seen too and was informed that there was 10 people before him! Basically told them that we were going to go home. Finally was seen to at 11:00. Three doctors checked him out - three different opinions  Finally a child specialist surgeon checked him out around midnight, when I cracked the shits and took the two other boys home leaving the wife there, and decided that his appendix was the problem. Operated on at 2:30 am. By this stage his appendix had nearly burst and instead of a two day recovery time he is still screaming and wont be out until Monday at the earliest...... :lolcry: So every day need to load up the kids and drive 45 - 60 min to see him without the luxury of dumping the other two at the grandparents.
