  1. The red now is now wearing a bonnet protector. Just waiting for the venetian to arrive, I was told it would be mailed this week after winning it last friday..... anyway more photos.
  2. You got me thinking guys, yes while some AE71's had the shroud some didnt. I noted two ae71s and one had the plastic shroud, while the other had the fan exposed - however the top tank of the radiator had a small fan guard tacked on like mine has. From what I can acertain Toyota did some changes as far as those things are concerned, but the radiators are still the same. For you're comparison
  3. Ahhh another person understands my point of view, it looks like we may be influencing others. Nicely said by the way.
  4. Only the ones from the late 60s to early 80s that featured real cars, and most importantly Corollas.
  5. Call it shrek :jamie:
  6. Thanks mate, it just suprised me way back how a stock standard car attracted so much attention compare to one that was fully done up. Bonus is keeping an original car that way dosent cost that much either. If only my ones had reciepts from the 80's. The white ke has the original dealer key ring, and a racv membership key tag from 1989- with the same rego on it! In all serousness though, cars like pure red I have a lot of time for.
  7. Any photos of the interior Joe? Whats the plan with the csx wheels on it currently. They would look damn schmick if they were stripped back and polished to a mirror finish. Have you polished car yet or considering it, because it would tops. Keep the photos coming :jamie:
  8. Hey Mate nice ke70 you have there, If you have intentions of putting speakers in youre front door cards let me know as I have a front pair of indentical cards with holes for speakers in very good condition if youre interested. The repalcements Kepp the updates coming :(
  9. Hey Joe welcome to the club mate! I thought Corolla was mine for a sec, very identical indeed. I hope you put some rubber between the roof racks mounts and rain channels to prevent rusting or damaging to chrome work. Your car has something which I fancy that is the venetian that I'm awaiting delivery on. This must be the twin..... Keep the updates coming :(
  10. Photos.... Gear stick surround, lucky it was still there 4 weeks after buying the conversion gear. Pain finding a manual one in grey. Three emergency/replacement hoses, all for $20.00 :D Working out mounting holes to fit bonnet protector (will be squared up nicely) May as well put it up while its there, the 4A :(
  11. Hit the jackpot a couple of times this week, found three genuine as new heater hoses for the ae71 in case I break one during the manual conversion or just to have as a spare. If you can get them from Toyota where can you get them. Secondly I was getting annoyed with the rear louvre as its a pain to clean behind, so I opted to buy a venetian. Coincidentially there happened to be one on ebay so I won that and am awaiting delivery. For the 21st birthday Paul found me something very rare which I had never seen or imagined. An ae71 bonnet protector!, He always fancied the red Corollas rear louvre so his ae71 will be sprting that instead. Photos to follow.
  12. Good news fellas!!!! went down to Andys autos this afternoon and brought a socket, ratchet, screwdrivers, and strength. Found an ae71 that had as new Toyota heater hoses fitted so I attacked it. Yeah the hoses were stuck on but I pursuaded them like no tomorrow and got all three out. But why did Toyota have to plumb and connect hoses in such stupid spots?? A bit of cursing.... Luke, I will give you're technique a go for sure :( much easier. When Paul and myself removed the manual conversion gear , we ripped off all ducting junk to get to the pedal assembly. No pussy footing around :D But just putting it in my car will take a bit of time and care.
  13. That is exactly what I should have done to the ae71 at pick a part in campbellfield. I have found another ae71 to do that on though.... Might go back tomorrow or sunday.
  14. That is one nice cressida Andy, especially in red. I was in pick a part on wednesday and this same model cressida sedan was in for parts and it had something different on it. The flatter profile chromed front and rear bars. Unfortunatley they were dinged up quite a bit anf the chrome was peeling off. After reading the manufacture plate I discovered it was a South African import. It was also fitted with the 20r crossflow four.
  15. Hey Luke, Recently Paul and myself are doing a manual conversion on his ae71, and in order to remove the two bolts from the top of the pedal box, you need to loosen off the surrounding wiring loom and unbolt the windscreen demister ducting - preety easy to do. But to completley remove the ducting the core must be pulled out so the ducting can be dropped and pulled away accordingly. Its a pain to do, but we had to do it that way. If there is another way without remocing the core feel free to share.
  16. I have seen the heat gun trick too and the hose started smoking a bit so that idea was canned. I'll be on the prowl for some oem hoses as that is the guy I am.... I apprecaite all the replies guys, so keep any suggestions coming.
  17. Trev is right in a sence, gates do not manufacture them. I went to a Toyota parts shop in Heidelberg yesterday and shown which hoses I wanted and I was quoted $80 and $60 per hose. Trade discount would be nice. :D Trex thanks for seal picks link too.
  18. Hey Trev, I'm trying to visualise what this seal pick would look like. Recently I saw a twisted coathanger wire used as a hook in trying to remove the hose but it didnt work as planned.
  19. Hi Dave, thans for the prompt reply. Just want to know a way of taking off the hoses witout cutting them or breaking the fittings.
  20. Hey guys, manual conversion is getting closer on red, but removal of the heater core is part of this task. I need advice on how to remove the original hoses without breaking the metal fittings to the core and tap and in addition the heater hoses themselves. Returning after a drive I sprayed all around the fittings making sure it soaked right through to the rubber. I thought this may assist in some way after a few sprays as it would free the stuck on hoses. I'd rather try and remove them properly before forking out dollars to Toyota buying a pair of hoses. Thanks in advance.
  21. Thanks Daxman and Justin. Believe me sometimes its very, very tempting to stick some serious rubber and coils under the car as thats what e7 owners usually do. But then it would ruin the hard work ive put in to get them to this standard which would hurt a lot. What ive done to them has made them stand out in their own right so they're still head turners.

  24. Haha, mines a flat front Evan. I'm definitley not a chick
  25. Hey guys, there was a datsun 280c there a 2 or 3 weeks back, could have been a 79 or 80 model and it still had the engine and ancillaries in the bay so you may be in luck. Unfortunatley I can't assist you any further, so I hope the info given can help you..
