  1. Given the nice weather we had this afternoon, I finished off the removal and relaying of the pin strips on the drivers side. Sore fingers from the razor and dried fingers from the paint thinner, but it was worth the effort, especially since its wearing its clean CS-X alloys! The drivers side pic shows the old stripes and new wheels, while the passenger side has a new stripe. Also thanks to RC forum member Motograff I got these "moulded" Corolla mudflaps for the rear, and yes I did the red lettering  My friends have more photos of this taken this evening when we went for a little drive about the burbs. I'm not taking the photos on a funny angle, that is how my street is!
  2. Mate that looks bloody mickey mouse, be proud - very proud :y:
  3. What Mr Baker and Evan said  :y:
  4. Two words, "stock standard" purely mouth watering. Love Reeds black interior as it looks uniform in one colour :y:
  5. Here are my two interiors.... Ae71 Ke70
  6. Went to Kilsyth pick a part last saturday and in the holding yard was a silver late model 55, but it was a 4wd  yes I couldnt believe it either. Big muddies and the body was lifted.
  7. Evan were you driving you're brothers Hilux down Grimshaw St this afternoon after 3 o'clock. As it had P plates on the front and back?
  8. The panel van looks very nice  The interior looks very tidy and tear free. Especially the top of the back seat! The rear bar looks okay - as in straightness, but are they losing their chrome finish?
  9. Hey mate, welcome. :) Finding a new beaver tail section is impossible. Just look around the wreckers at ke70/ae71 corollas and see if there is a relatively rust free section. Is it rusted just above the taillights? If so its easy to remove sections like that from a wrecker, just bring a hacksaw
  10. Paul do you recall a newspaper article I had on the 3000th car to be impounded that was a yellow slanty ke70? Here it is.

The alloys are painted now, 99% close to original.

  11. Loving the panels mate, they are what define a panelvan arent they :P Please put up some pics of the Gemini as it looks original.
  12. Yep heat it up and slowly peel it like a bandaid  Oh don't forget to remove the chrome strip on top of the passenger door as the others don't have it, SE models never had that brightwork.
  13. AHH I'm glad you noticed them, did you get the whole system for $100.00 because thats what the older bloke charged me when I asked.
  14. Okay wheel prepping, masking, painting and detailing have been completed. I'll get my hands on some phillips head screw for the centre caps and then I just have to swap the good rubber over and thats done. Then the next task will be re laying of pin strips on the drivers side and its all complete. Got my dashmat today, big thanks to Colonel :y:
  15. Hey Even I actually went down to Bunnings but didnt find them. I just bought 120mm discs and whacked them on the drill. It did a good job on the spokes but on the dish forget it. The rubber backing disc hits the dish and leaves rubber :glare: . BUT i'll prep sand the remaining spokes on the other wheels and sand the dish by hand...... But then i'll repaint the alloys with some Septone or VHT wheel paint (high temp/hard wearing). I trialled one rim with the "alluminium" finish but I'm also thinking about the "chrome" finish paint too. :hmm: I want something with a bit of shine/reflection. The i'll redo all the red/burgundy highlights.
  16. Some more progress pics of the detailing, photos and glaring sun don't do it justice. Wiped down all the windows with hot water and rag, then wiped down all interior plastics and fittings before giving it a quick vacuum and armourall. Washed the outside, chamois dried and then forever blacked all the black highlights and gave the tyres a bit of tyre shine.
  17. Dad decided to update and sensibly scored himself a 2007 Hyundai Getz, 3dr hatch, 5 speed manual 1.5, A/C pwr steering electric windows and a measily 44,000km on the clock. I took it for a drive with dad and its zippy and fun to drive and sticks to the road like a magnet. I was very impressed :) So this will recieve my attention for a little while as it needs a mild internal and external detail. The faceoff :P But as the saying in my house hold says, when one car comes one must go and yes its a Corolla :(
  18. Hey Josh loving the progress on the panelvan, and good job on getting a 4k. Jesse AKA Ecoimpact who you bought the motor off is great to deal with too :y:
  19. Haha the alloys do bring the car together, No I havent used the paint stripper yet but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone else has attempted it. Whenever you're ready for the door cards let me know, no stress :y: Yeah the Getz came up like a lolly, I put up better photos later in the week. P.M'd you in regards to the dash top

  21. Paitence and a heat gun will remove those rub strips easily. Then use eucalyptus oil to remove any glue from the paintwork :y:
  22. I agree those wheels will look bloody tough :y: :y: from me!!
  23. When I came home tonight I found this little beast parked in the garage, It was quite a suprise. 2007 Hyundai Getz, 3dr hatch, 5 speed manual 1.5, A/C pwr steering electric windows and a measily 44,000km on the clock. I took it for a drive with dad and its zippy and fun to drive and sticks to the road like a magnet. 24. Thanks mate, its nearly getting there. I just can't wait to clean up the alloys  I'd be more than to give you're ke55 the same treatment if I could cheekily fit those MA61 onto my car *Jokes* If only we lived in the same state it would be cool  At the moment the car is quite dusty as its garaged, might give it a scrub this weekend to bring out the artistic elements.
  25. Hey Evan, I considered that as it would be pratical for doing the outer lip/dish part. But it may be tricky on the spokes. In regards to the imperfections though, I would still rub down the bare alloy with smooth wet and dry to remove the imperfections anyway. Cheers for the advice Evan :y:
