Well thats a nice score Tom!! Look at the early to late 70's Hilux and Hiace Commercials vehicles as these were fitted to them from Toyota. Both these model were from Japan, so finding them might be a task along with the fact they are over 3 decades old and have probably fallen off. They are in good hands now, so there wont be any issue with cleaning up these and fitting them. And I think mudflaps are cool too

Nice pick up Matt, very original indeed  Are you keeping the original plates on the car? Would be nice if you did, not many around any more. Thats how I worked the year of it but you mentioned it before hand. Look after her

Some of you interstaters may have heard that Vic has a locust plague, as 99% of the locals had flyscreen on the fronts of their cars it was obvious we were city slicers who a re normally immune from this problem. Locust anyone :o The dirty Datsun, it has a crap load of power :fuzz: :no2: . Cultivated quite a few figure 8S with ease. As well as chasing kangaroos and a wild goat.

After sitting for a long time in the yard, Paul decided it was time to bring the ae70 Sprinter up to the country. Just the usual fluid checks and pre driving checks to do before getting an un registered permit and washing it for its 130km single way trip! Heading up the Ring Road. Having a rest stop. The fun begins

Evan is correct Brent, a Commodore driver Yes Commodore driver said "mate who did your white walls?" Evan said, "Yeah nah its only house paint mate" :laff: Absolute classic, his ke55 turns heads though

She used to, but then sold the car to another local who Chris (Colonel) met at Supercheap auto in Thomastown.

Wow that scrubbed up very nice, new (old) meshies look even better. Keep up the good work guys!! :y:

The centre caps with the light blue surrounding the T would have been those heavy chrome caps with the prongs that resemble spider legs that featured on the early "one piece dash" ke30 and early model ke50. I have one like that, and another identical one with the red thats faded also... Too many variations which makes it so interesting. I'd be happy with the magazine and wheels too  Good work, Thats why I like collecting this stuff as it comes in handy in times like these. So are you painting the wheels the original colour?
-
Boo, Ive got windfields with Hoges, Peter Styvansent, Camel, John Player Special with the JPS BMW.... From my understanding that ke50 with those wheels must have been for the Japenese market as it was sent to Aus for evaluation "as is" When these cars were sent imported in numbers they were fitted with the run of the mill Corolla rims. Motor did mention that the car may be dressed down visually to suit the Aus spec. Anyway here is a picture from a brochure to give you an idea. Here are some quick snaps in relevance to this subject. This on the floor is only the beginning, the folder in the top rh corner is packed full of as new brochures along with the ones on the floor in the plastic packets. And more material in the plastic tub, glovebox manuals on the left in the dealer wallets and some without. Then more magazines under those brochures on the other half of the tub. Again, I have another two tubs with magazines - qhich are in my cupboard and then another 30+kg stack in the office. Here Evan, looks familiar \/\/\/\/ :hmm: don't get too excited. :lolcry:
-
Well well well, that is one magazine I don't have that features a ke50! I have motormanual, modern motor and wheels in black and white from 74 to 81 featuring the earliest ke30 to the last ke55! so seeing this is quite exciting! Evan you don't have to be so graphic :laff: **I'll see what I can find in my archives **

Maybe Sat 11th? More likely people will roll up knowing they have a day off the following day.

Hey Josh, Your warm but no dice. This style was available on the XX Coronas from 1980-1983 in 14" diameter. They're not common at all.

Stick with a 5k as its a standard bolt in replacement unit. Looks like a 4k but has more power making potential within legalities. If anyone questions it, say its a Jap import engine. Plenty of people on ebay and trading post use the term Jap import and it atleast sounds genuine.
-
AH even better then as thats the manual diff ratio for a 1.3 anyway :y:. So all you need is the pedal assembly, gearbox and possibly tailshaft I think. I know a ae71 manual tailshaft are different due the number of splines on the shafts compare to an auto one.

No mate there were a yellow slanty that was there for a few months and a white sedan that was just put in. Funnily enough the yellow ke70 I got he stick from had the carby and inlet missing! I picked up the car from the tuner today and it runs like a swiss watch. Firstly the auto choke was seized up so it was fixed and worked brilliantly when I picked it up today. Secondly the idle was too high due to the former automatic settings that I knew about. And lastly the carby mixtures as the tuner described it were a "mile off" He said the difference in economy will be much more noticable, and so will the drivability when the car is cold as I confirmed when test driving it. The pick up is smooth and response is sharp. He checked the timing and it was perfect :y: Good fix all round :)

Well a Kebeb drive will be happening soonish, so the ke or ae will be there to mingle!
-
Yep its an Aussie Borgie, 1.3L and auto = 4.3.1 ratio on that diff. It will be stanmped the tag thats in the picture.

That sounds good, some nice quiet industrial estates for some large group photos too. What else could be added a tiny bit :hmm: I was going to mention to Donny Brook going through Epping, then turn left through Donny Brook and continue until hume highway before taking another left toward Greenvale. Just to stretch it out. Also.... If you have a passenger give them the camera so they can take the photos of passing cars in motion
-
This looks insane Reed :y:  , any engine plans on the cards next to match its hard looks?
-
I will add more, While I have been a member for just over two years I was a frequent browser on here much longer so I had a good idea of what Corollas were about thanks to the more "mature" members who shared their knowledge and experince. However once the drift scene came in and the unloved little common commuter box ke70's/ae71's were realised for thier RWD drift potential SOME members like 15 year old kids joined but didnt contribute positively to the forum. As its at its been at its peak for a while now, we have come to notice the increase in pointless, dumb, stupid, illegal, unsafe and repetitive questions that we roll our eyes at. I'm not digging so don't have a fit, but am expressing my observations.

After reading what the other guys have written and repeatedly see myself I must vent it. /\/\/\/\And yeah ive only got like 6 weeks of school holidays to make it fully JDM, what should I do?? makita springs, flip the airfiltetr, and pull half the paint off when taking off the rub strips :rolls: It gets better.... Parting out car cos its defected. Will need complete interior, rust fixed, and emissioned hooked up. Only asking $2,000 :n: :laff: Go and screw with a Gemini if your that i'll.
-
Well today the ae71 finally went in for its carbie to be looked at for a number of reasons.. A, Its running rich. B, The idle is too high as it was previously auto. (Yes I could have lowered it but may as well let the carby bloke do it). C, The auto choke dosen't work, this was caused by me degreasing the engine a while back I'd say. So I was told it will be ready tomorrow afternoon, should drive a bit better :)

Grease it is then, thanks guys!
-
Get there before 6 problem solved  More time for talking :y: RE: Mr Baker Doncasters only a suggestion.
-
Should I use grease such as wheel bearing grease, or just brush on some gearbox oil to the end of the stick?
