Mamma Mia :o THAT is the nicect torquoise for that body shape. Love it :y:

I'm interested in this too, but the uploading page constantly chenges from blank to text saying it will upload in a few seconds, but if not click here. Tried both but nothing.

Bought this issue too and got a nice suprise seeing such a neat car. Excellent work :y:
-
It was preety tidy, just the usual small trolley dents and bits of rust. I was about to do a full respray on it and turn it into a Spirit. Luckily it never eventuated into that. Unfortunatley I have lost the motivation to do it all again on another AE71 so whats left is now on sale. We all learn differently from these unfortunate incidences for the better :y:

Is there a considerable gap above the rear door, or a kink above the b pillar where the roof is welded to. If the car is tight and is in a really good condition, i'd be inclined to get someone to put it on the rack and pull it back into place. Use her money and some from your own pocket pending cost to get it done properly. Why lose a car from someone elses mistake. I can feel for you, my AE71 has not got one straight panel on the left hand side. Even the innerwheel arch where the shocker bolts through and the matal frame behind the back seat are bent. Not to mention the 11mm gap between the back drivers door and rear 1/4 panel. And the bootlid gap... its way off. Its completley twisted. As I said, theres definetley scope in your little ke.

I it got t-boned as I was executing a right turn in an intersection. An older Merc, 300e I think travelling down hill and hit me. Busy intersection and being unfamiliar was my fault as I did not see the car. But this accoured in a school zone where its 40 and the extent of the damage to the Corolla in my opinion and others who have seen it believe it was done at more than 40km/h. I could dispute untill the cows come home, but for what its worth I really couldnt be bothered. Its taken a while for me to get over. Main thing is no one was injured.

With the seat the way they are now, its like driving a new car!
-
Thanks Jesse much appreciated! Next will be removing a few dents, small rust and some touch ups. Biggest paint job on the car will the bottom of the front beaver panel and guards. Whoever had the car originally wanted it black :hmm:, looks weird and makes the car appear higher.

You can ride shotgun with me when another cruise is on  That blue vinyl rear seat at pick a part is crying out for you.
-
He certainly put more foam in both front bases my boy, if I remember correctly he skinned the blue vinyl off, inserted new foam and with a fresh vinyl he stitched the "panels together" to make it looks as new. Proir to this getting done, you sat "on" the seat. No support or anything. But now its like a proper bucket seat, you sink in as its thick and spongy and the squab for once actually holds you preety damn well for a stock seat. I love it and money well spent

Few more.. Few exterior Toyota's pre oh what a feeling slogan. Brochure and scanner

A few more worthy updates, I finally spat the dummy and decided to pull off my seat covers in the ke as it just looked cluttered with these huge wooly covers. I forgot the condition of the seats as the covers were on for a few years... then I realised the bases were split along the stitching and the cushion was flat from use/age. Then I recalled a while back a motor trimmer near my place, so I went down inquired and luckily he still had the exact roll of vinyl under his bench! Over the weekend I gave him the seats and before I knew it they were back in the car. They look like new, feel like new and smeel like new!

Spotted a super clean ke70 parked at Yarraville or Seddon station. while train travelling, beige in colour, black steelies with trims with a toy haning below the rear bar. Hats off to Shayden for having a such a clean daily :y:

Whats not to love about this van, if only Toyota made them exactly like this back then and now
-
The Toyotas really look the part :y: That Datsun SX is beautifull  Nice photos!

It must be about people who cannot spell manual from what I can ascertain. Some people refer to manuals a Mexican Bandit named Manuel :laff: Either way, Manual or Manuel we still know what people are trying to say as its related to cars.
-
What exactly do you need the engineer for? If it because you changed it from auto as it was to manual, or put on a non standard carby you don't need an engineer for that.
-
Do you drive the double decker Sparks or diesel locos? Dad is a sparks driver down in Melbourne and the generalisation that people say about drivers just looking out the window is spot on, but its extremely far from the truth. Its demamding but rewarding.
-
Thanks Jesse  This is the centre of attention for the time being, the AE71 is another story. Plans of improving it have been stopped. The ke70 clocked 134,000 still a virgin  I forgot how nice it is to drive even if they are bit slow!

I love this car, I recall seeing the photos on the photostrip. If it were mine, I'd be inclined to keep it stock as its so original from when you bought it. But its your car, so do what makes you happy!

My auto ae71 had average fuel economy, in the 11l/100km category. That was around town. After I manual converted it and had the carburettor tuned and checked it returned 8-8.5l/100km. Best on the open road was 6l/100km.

Hey guys, just a little update.... nothing being a real break through or innovation, but I will be running the ke70 around for a while as its at my place for the meantime. Saturday 5/2/11 I had a defensive driving course/gift. It was a 21st birthday present so I brought the ke70 down to Sandown raceway and did a number of defensive exercises. Its a good course :y: Driving it down through Springvale Rd and the Princess Hwy was to say the least challenging when roads are flooded. Luckily there were detours in place:y: After a full day on the track it was preety grubby and far from Minty :o So out with some Kitten wash, hot water, sponge and hose and gave it the first bath in 5 years. Prior to this I always chamoised it as it had dust from sitting under the garage. So a bucket and chamois would do :y: While chamoising under the rear bar I saw what appeared to be surface rust, so this afteroon it was off with the rear bar, then with rags and thinners gave the whole beaver panel a good wipe down and it made a difference. Anyway, where the panel overlaps and is spot welded the silastic has dried and fallen out hence the monkey business that was going on. Once it was prepped I used the hammer and dolly to "seal" the overlaping panels and gave it a good coating of rust disolver even though there wasnt any and then gave it a thick shot of seam sealer so complete it. Thought I'd spoil it and buy a Toyota filter, I had the choice between this or the z68 size but though being a smaller capacity I thoight it could benefit with a little extra pressure. The box says its suitabe for a 4k or 5k. And for a bit of fun I scanned an old school rego label from back in the day when you had to soak them in water for two minutes before applying them to the windscreen. And you only had one attempt to get it right, otherwise it was a weeks wait for a replacment. Bit fiddling with word and paint and its done :y: Photos for your amusement. Before After

I'll definetly consider it as a second run around would be nice, should bring up a wad of notes and wave it under the Spirit owners nose and hope they sell it.
-
don't worry boy, I will be to inspect the 36s'
-
The last pic of the respectfull ke36 owners really tops it off! Could bring a tear to a glass eye :y:
