  1. Are you sure it wasnt yours  Is it drivable yet after the rwc?
  2. Hey Jess, The CS-X alloys arent worth very much at all. The average price for these wheels is under $150.00 with or with out tread. If I was to buy them, I'd strip them back myself with various grades of wet and dry paper to remove clear coat and corrosion, before washing them down and giving them a few lashings of metal polish I.E Autosol or American Eagle. Then the buffing can be done by hand preferably as there are intricate areas and dished surfaces which would inhibit a normal size buffing pad from contacting. Then lastly, recoat the surface with a proper wheel lacquer. Prior to this remove the centre caps and clean them up with steel wool and polish before replacing. Its tedious but the result is worth while
  3. Well it looks like a bit of fan base for a Kinglake run, looks like the ke70 will need to be dusted off and the ae71 being initiated into its first RC cruise. ;) Really looking forward to it.
  4. Nice photos guys, a cruise up to Kinglake would be a ripper! ;) Good suggestion Evan, if you have any ideas for this Kinglake cruise let us know.
  5. A small update thats an extra step closer to the conversion, I gave the flywheel to a work mates husband who will take care of the machining etc. After removing the pinstripes on Pauls AE71 cs-x I decided to begin work on mine removing the old gold double row stripes in favour of new ones.... what a pain but its worth it! The front passenger guard already the stripe missing so virtually no prep was needed. With the heat gun small sections of the stipe were heated on the front passenger door, and with several persuasions the pin stripe eventaully came off. (Note, avoid heating around the chrome door handles if can....) With a small amount of paint thinner and a few rags the glue came off. I bought two packs of strips, one thick and one thin. I applied the thick one first along the guard followed by the thinner stipe above it. Then the process was repeated for the passenger door. I will do this in stages as its quite time consuming to do. Bottom (thick stripe laid). Stetching the top stripe Front guard finished, de striping the passenger door. After prepping, the bottom (thick stripe) was laid. Dull paint due to thinner. Both stripes are laid and paint is polished up.
  6. The question is where are you  any more updates on this is or what?
  7. Hey Mate, you'll be in luck at Campbellfield because the interior or more importantly the roof lining is tan so it would match your van 100%
  8. Hey Reed, It would be DAXMAN that you are referring to as he is from Normay. Because from memory I think he was going for the same idea of clear lenses too.
  9. Tailgates are the same, only the high roof blends into it so I can understand why you may think the tailgates may look different. Headlining should be the same as well, go to pick a part in Campbellfield as there was a ke70 wagon flat roof wagon down there with tail gate.

    My Ae82

Another e7 sibling to join my two, this should be good :hmm: Oh, you're welcome to pick up the rear bar if you bring the ae71 down :lolcry: . Or I may depending on time be able to pop in with in with it to see the ae71.... If you want a hand sometime this weekend with tidying it up let me know :lolcry:
  11. Hey Jesse, Like SLO 030 said, its a flat front. Build date comfirms it as its 2/82. Here's a fact too, flat fronts can legally seat 4 occupants unlike slantys which can seat 5. Reason being that the seats in the slants were "slimmer/compact shaped to maximise leg and headroom. Also flat front have non retractable rear seat belts inlkie slants which do :lolcry:
  12. Parrot I'm glad you like the frames, I was lucky enough to still find these frames in boots of old Toyotas at pick a part and other car wreckers. I have 8 in total but its taken me a few years to build what I have though. The Goulds I got from Pick a Part and AMI I got off 78 7k rolla in exchange for old car magazines roadtesting the model Corollas he has. Sadly when I did ask some wreckers if they had the frames they would just brake them off the plates before handing them in to vicraods :hmm: If anything, you will have more luck finding the vinyl wallets for service books though. When I was younger I used to search every glove box looking for manuals, service vouchers and impoetantly the different wallets. I happy that I can share actually these with guys like you and Bamboo who appreciate it. I'll keep looking though :lolcry:
  13. Hi Parrot, I don't have dealer stickers from that specifc era but I do have these. Maybe stickers could be reproduced from thes images? My ke70 was from Ken Morgan Toyota and I only discovered it by seeing the outlined letters on the boot lid as thats where they stuck them. Then when I strolling through pick a part I saw a little tidy ka ford laser with keys in the ignition, and on thekeys was this Ken Morgan Key ring - a must have for my car. 14. Thanks for the kind words guys, some more progress has been made towrds the manual conversion. I have now acquired the flexi line for the clutch slave cylinder, this was custom made to lenght as none were in stock, a high performance clutch kit, rear wheel cylinders and brake shoes nearly finish the package. Just the flywheel needs machining and its ready for longer legs. :lolcry:
  15. Hi Mate, That is superb example of an original Crown, well done. Dads friend has one which he's owned for 30 years, this and his ke55 are his daily drivers. The crown has a toyota 5 speed behind it and drives very cruisy indeed with ample power on tap. His colour like yours is quite unique too. The only time its been left on the front was for these photos, otherwise its always covered.
  16. They are just known or referred to as Corolla CS-X alloys, thats it no other names mate :lolcry:
  17. As Medicine Man said this should give you an idea. Its the thick black wire :lolcry:
  18. Fantastic job Evan!!
  19. Cheers Matty :jamie:
  20. This looks really tough, but it has a striking resemblence to Knight Rider. Do the led's red though.
  21. A few months back I was in talks with a writer for a new automotive magazine titled Retro Autos, he wanted to know a little info about the ke70 and ae71, how I became involved with Corolla etc, etc. After explaining the story he requested some pictures and over the period of a few months between correspondance he wrote up an article titled Department of Youth. A brief rundown was anyone in their mid/late teens who owned an original classic or retro car was welome to write in to contribute their piece. Meeting the criteria I submitted a brief intro about myself and shortly after I was contacted by the writer who was keenly interested in hearing more.... He is interested in hearing from more enthusiasts, such as rollaclub members who own a car thats relatively original. Eg standard looking on the outside but with a different motor or stereo system.... Here is a picture of the issue, and my spread is on pg 76-77
  22. Haha cheers Dropz! The radio itself plays crystal clear, and when the equalizer is turned on it literally boosts the sound like anything. All the voice bars on the display panel light up similiar to knight rider. Only the carboard cones in the rear speaker vibrate, and under the boost provided by the equalizer it makes it more noticeable. But I still love it, very advanced for its time.
  23. Here's a little granny for you. And we share the same name too
  24. White had the choice of blue, grey or brown. Here are my two e7's to give you an idea. Red exterior with grey interior White with a blue interior White with a brown interior, not my car.
  25. Worth $400.00 back in 82. The pinnacle of 80's audio. They don't make them like this anymore.
