What Rims Are These Called? 13x6 Steel, Chrome Etc...
Ben-89 replied to sss1600's topic in General Mechanical
Those rims are Delta Turbines, and are made with the chrome finish like you said. Ive got a Herald Sun paper from 82 which has the ad for the delata wheel range. -

Thanks Rolla Dude. As the majority of people are modifying their Corollas in some way to be different, I'm just preserving mine particularly the ke70 as it is stock. Finding a standard low kilometre ke70 in really clean condition is hard to find. Let alone pricey. Which makes the clean stardard ones different from the pack again..

Here are a few more photos of some of the ke30's we've had in the past... The mustard 76 model ke30 was dad's first car in 78, it was bought as a repairable writeoff and was repaired. It lasted many years before he sold it and bought an identical one. The green one pictured belonged to a work colleague of dad who let us service his car. When he passed away he left it to us, which we later sold afterward. In January this year a mate and I went to pick pay n go in Ringwood. In the wrecking yard was a Ae82 twincam with a complete mid 80's bodykit. The side skirts were broken from where the forklift placed it on the stands, but importantly the front spoiler was untouched. I couldn't get the spoiler off quick enough, all the screws came out except for one thing. The silastic silicone glue. I managed to prize off the spoiler without further damaging it. As it was colour coded to the car I sanded it back, filled up any stone chips, scratches and cracks before sanding it smooth again. Then it was sprayed satin black to match the bumperbar. After fitting to the car, I gave it a final coat of paint and it looks like it was meant to be there. A few months later at pick-a-part I found a pair of series one genuine Toyota headlight covers. After some cleaning they were put on the car looks complete. I got the idea to do this when I saw this advertisement in one my magazines... Click..... Ke30 Photos, dad's was the mustard one and these photos were taken in 1978. The green one belonged to a friend of his. Now here are photos the spoiler that was bought from Pick, Pay n' Go...

Dash pad, Rust free panels (bonnet, guards particularly at the bottoms), interior (non ripped cloth and vinyl seats, dash facia (silver part) cut out to accomodate an aftermarket radio, or manual/auto gear console where they are cut out to maybe put another audio unit above. Front and rear bumper bars are sometimes buckled or they begin to rust. Rear numberpalte lights can also rust out where they sit flush with the rear bar.. These are some of the things I've seen if I have gone to see a car for for sale, or if I have been going around the wreckers.

I agree, late August as it gives the members time to organise themselves more and let other other Corolla enthusiasts to participate as well during that time frame. -
That car looks great, the hard work has paid off. It really has that old school flavour on the exterior while inside its more current. Top job!.

Gee the new Corolla looks overrated Ben just like mine, its amazing how a polish can transform the appearance of a car. Is yours a 5 speed manual and does it have air conditioning. How many km's has it done, I'm looking forward to seeing the updates you do. Thanks, Ben.

This link may assist in determining what you're paint code is. http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/colou..._toyota_A-G.htm

I like it a lot, from a $200 car that It was you have done a really good job. Keep up the progress and this will real nice. Good choice on colour too, as it suits the era of the car. Keep us posted and keep up the good work.. Ben.

Hi that grill above is off the series 1 Ke55, there is another form of early ke55 grille like that but it has the four silver vertical bars instead of two like on the pictured. It also has the red "C" badge instead of the blue. Its not every day that you see those blue badges on the grilles anymore. Hope this helps, Ben.

A few occasions when I have taken my minty senior spec ke70 out I have recieved offers to sell the car, to this young guy and his mates, I don't know what he would have offered me as I firmly declined his offer, but he couldn't speak highly enough of the car. And another occasion when I was at the servo, an older man paid a complement to me about the car saying how original it was... Then in between while driving or stationary at the lights, people will always look at the car and smile.

Hey Mate nice Corolla you've got there. This was the one that was on ebay, It looks much better now than what it did in the ebay photos. Canary Yellow and ke30 Corollas look good!! Where abouts in Melbourne do you live? and what work specifically does the car need, I remember a bit of rust removal, but thats about it... will it need much for a roadworthy as it looks preety clean already. Keen to see the progress on this car!! Ben.

Name: Ben Car: 1982 Toyota Corolla KE70 SE sedan, it must be the sibling to Broadies white ke70.. Motor & Driveline: Original 4k engine and 4 speed manual transmission, with a T series diff, I thought it would have a Borg warner like the CS and XX versions but it dosent as I've see another two early model ke70's with the t series also. This was originally my grandparents car, but has since been in my possession since mid 2006. Gets driven occasionally and has clocked on 130,400 km. Suspension & Brakes: Standard suspension that feels nice and tight which soaks bumps beautifully. Brakes are standard also, but bite in great if needed. Wheels & Tyres: Standard wheels with polished chrome dress rims, wheel nuts and centre caps which are wrapped in 175 section tires with thin white wall highlights around the perimeter of the tire bead. It makes the wheels look wider than they are. Interior: overrated blue vinyl interior with sheep skin seat covers to preserve the front seats, and a satin black rear venetian to protect the back seats. Dash board is overrated thanks to a dash mat to protect it also. Along with tinted windows. Body: 99.9% rust free body, with only very minor rust and some small dents. Without being biased, I havent seen another ke70 in Vic as clean and original as mine. Other: 1980's bold, thick and navy blue pinstriping and decals that make it stand out from the crowd of other Corolla's from the era, drivers weather shield, mudflaps (genuine), boot release, automatic antenna, headlight covers, parcel tray under glove box, rare left hand mirror. All in all its senior spec!

The spoiler you are referring to came of the Corolla Spirit, or an AE71 that was cosmetically dressed up with sports stripes, spoiler and different cloth trim inserts on the seats along with the 1.6l engine ane 5 speed gearbox... They do occasionally pop up, however as they not too common, they are not exactly cheap to buy. But you might be lucky though. Have a look on the for sale threads on this site, ae86drivingclub and ke70.com Hope this helps, Ben.

Found a ripper of a commercial for Australian Corollas, this commercial was from 1987 and was celebrating the cars 21st anniversary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5HlBPh1kGE

*just looked* in my 1975 wheels magazine that featured the ke30 2 door sedan, and according to the specifications it says the Front track is 1295mm or 51 inches, while the rear track is 1285mm or 50.6 inches. Hope it helps, Ben.

Hi Wayne, good work on finding the new grill, it looks much less fussy, are you going to paint it white to match the bumpers?. Johno, your'e Seca and my Hatch are series 1, made in 1985/86. Waynes model is the series 2 made from late 1986/89 that has a different grill and headlight setup. And as you said the series 2 grill is larger than the series 1, and does need pursuading to fit.

No its a Chevrolet Nova, a GM equilivent, of the Toyota in the US. Toyota and Chevrolet did what Toyota and Holden did in the 90's with their "Button Plan" where two manufacturers join to produce cars to increase local car production etc... I noticed that those front guards don't have the deep groove above where the rub strip goes on locally made Toyotas. Instead its flat.
