Whoa, one thing I love and appreciate mate is that everything you do is thorough and all the way! Very, very nice work and complements to you and you're dad. Ben.

WOW, now thats original!! If you are going to the trouble of keeping it original, please keep those old green and white number plates on the car. And pull out some autosol and polish that alluminium AMI number plate frame, its the little touches like that which will finish off such a lovely car and add to its integrity. So are you going to give it a thorough cut and polish then wax, this will be so nice. And its got a 160 thousand too, what a bonus!

Thanks for the prompt replys guys, this car is 25km away from my place so I brought the bare essentials - less the multimeter and I didnt consider any other the other points raised by you guys. Now I have some info to work with.

I think its just the wrong picture for that model. The clearly is a ke70 to te70 rear bumper as all the lines are identical. Note that this bar dosent have the number plate light mounted on the bar, instead these lights are mounted on the rear beaver panel.. Definitley not a ke30 rear bar.

Okay guys, I hope you can help me out. I tried starting an ae71 automatic that has not been driven between 4-6 months. Now this is not my car so I don't know its history. Anyway, the owner said the car wont start because it had a flat battery so I brought my own as new century battery. I wired the battery up pumped the accelerator a bit and it was turning over as normal but it wouldnt fire.. So I pulled off the distributor cap and the contactors and rotor button had that white calcifaction build up on them, so I cleaned them up in the hope it would make the car start, but I was wrong. So one observation I made was that the points inside were closed after I continously hand cranked the motor. So the points were gapped enough to give a bigger spark when the cam was in movement. So I popped the rotor button back on and put the distributor cap on and tried starting the car again to which it didnt fire. The car has half a tank of fuel in it and when the motor cranks petrol can be seen passing the fuel filter toward the carby. So its not fuel starved... So then I pulled off one ignition lead and put it up the motor and it was being cranked there was was the smallest spark that could barely be seen. So I thought it may be the points but the gap appeared to be satisfactory in order to make a spark. So Paul a mate and rollaclub forum member came with me for second time, but this time we brought a coil as we thought the original nippondenso was may have been worn.... still the spark was very little and the motor didnt fire. I am no expert when it comes to electricals so I would greatly appreciate any input from anyone with greater knowledge.

The only difference from what I can see between a 3k and 4k manifold is that a 3k one has the twin pipes running from the base of the manifold to the exhaust pipe, where as the 4k has one pipe from the base of the manifold back..

The 1892cc starfire engine is derived from the 173ci or 2.8 litre straight six holden motor. The 202 was not used for a strafire due do noise, vibration and harshness issues. Though the capacity would have been increased to 2.2 or 2.3 litres.. Still it would be interesting seeing a Corona with a holden 6 in it though!

For the white walls I did them myself, first I used wax and grease remover to remove the tyre which was on there and after that I used one of those oil based rattle pen paint markers and went across two onf the raised grooves in the tyres. Just make sure you park away from the gutter though, or else it will rub off. Since these photos the white walls have been removed. I'm glad you like it though!

Good thinking mate, leave it how it is and look after it. You'll be the one laughing at the end of the day.

Cheers Adam, the closest thing to a muesum is the garage at home where its preserved. I offered it to Toyota for their 50th annivarsary vehicle display and it got turned down as I was too late to enter it, when I have it down next and I go through Macleod I'll swing by some time so you can have a proper look! :)

I agree with bmwsexmonkey, keep it original mate with exception of the mags. Really, original ke70s like this will be the rarity in the long run which will also appreciate too. If you want to fun though, just buy an already rough ke70 for cheap and have fun with that, but like I said keep this one as it is. But its you're choice. Very good choice for a first car too!

Wanted - Original Condition Aussie Built Toyota's
Ben-89 replied to silverra23's topic in Automotive Discussion
Full already? On Monday Peter replied to an email I sent saying he would be in touch with me. They don't waste any time! -
Even the transmissions? Thanks mate.

Ha Ha, thats identical to mine with the same kilometers too! Keep us posted on the updates. Vinyl interior is nice. But mine is the blue, not the grey like yours. See if you have a Japenese diff underneath. My ke70, for some reason has a T series diff in it which appears to have been there from new as all the red quality check marks are still there. After realising I had a t series in mine I began to look at other ke70s to see if they had the same, and only the Flat front SE models in auto or manual had them, I have seen 3 or 4 since then.

Did you get these wheels from pick-a-part in Campbellfield today? as I saw a mazda 929? wagon with the same wheels on it. Obviously someone tried to take them off but couldn't get past the anti theft nuts... Also where abouts are you located, around Preston? If so we should meet up for some photos...

The car looks immaculate mate, where abouts is the rust you speak of? Keep us updated.

Since my last post the Ae82 has had another set of wheels put on, but this time they're the series one Ae82 CS-X alloys not Ae92 alloys. After having my 5,000 km free tyre balance the wheels kept vibrating at 80-100km/h... So again I went back and this time I was advised that both my front alloys were slightly buckled - enough to emit this vibration... So they swapped the rear good alloys and vice versa. This was only a temporary measure as I was irritated with this vibration. Still not any better, so then I decided to purchase the original Ae82 items and have them fitted. This time I went to another shop as I was not satisified with the first one. Long story short, it turns out that one of my front (new) tyres from Feb this year already had a lump it, and secondly only one of the wheels were buckled, not enough to emit a vibration. Instead it turned out that the rear tyres had lumps in them too which contributed to the shaky ride also. As I already had these Ae82 alloys that did not have any buckles in them, I told them to fit them as I thought they suited the car better. Then the front tyre was replaced from them under warranty, and the rears were changed over from a private shop. The vibration is still present but its not as bad, if wasn't as fussy I would put up with it. I think the vibrating may be coming from the drive shafts, as there is fore and aft play along with up down. Further more the drivers side shaft is spitting out grease onto the firewall that has made me suspicious. Some of it symptoms are the following. 1, Above 80 km/h in a straight line while powering it vibrates slightly. 2, Going up hill in third gear while powering though a bend it vibrates also. 3, Though while coasting down hill at 80-100km/h with no accleleration applied there is not vibration. But as soon as I accelerate it will vibrate. 4, As I slow down when entering a corner in 2nd gear and gently power out of the corner no matter how hard I try to feather the accelerator it will still give that little jolt/jerk. Otherwise the drive shafts don't click and the cv boots are not worn, Visually they look fine. Also the car has 335.000 km on the clock. As I'm happier with these wheels, I thought I would post a quick photo. Some better ones will be taken though.

My Ke55 Dyno Pull/drag Racing/corolling Around
Ben-89 replied to Evan G's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Good video Evan, where abouts did you get the ke dynoed and how much did it cost? -
Earlier on this year I had a wanted to buy thread as I'm after a ke30/55 Corolla. Anyway I was curious to see how the car performed/handled and drove for daily duties. One of dads work mates has a late model ke55 that he's has for over 20 years. So I thought I would ask him if it could be ok if I could drive his car afound for a few days so I can get a feel of it and make my judgement. Dad's friend was kind enough to lend me the car for a few days to drive in, and I found the car really fun and plesant to drive in day for to day commuting etc... Whilst I had the car, I thought I would treat it to a full exterior detail as it desperatley needed one.. It had the usual chalky paint, dull chrome on wheels bumpers and grey strips instead of black. So I brought it back to its formaer glory to my appreciation. I gave it one polish using the cutting compound, followed by a second polish with the cream/wax. Then on the chrome autosol was applied along with forever black for the bubbers. Enjoy the photos. Before detailing After detailing...
