  1. I agree wholeheartedly, I hope its just some of the people I've met that are the minority. My current landlords are fine with pretty much anything I do after I cleaned up the jungle that was the backyard & replaced the broken (broken before we moved in) toilet cheaply for them. I'm in the habit of cleaning up my mess, its my OTHER neighbours (landlords live next door) who complained to the council about me & my project car. So just tip-toe-ing along until I can sidestep any legislation BS
  2. Whoa...you've got a thirsty engine...& a big fuel tank!
  3. Over-enthusiastic apprentice brickies... That's a doorway dumbass! :laff:
  4. I've seen questionaires from the landlords to prospective tenants (i.e ME) with the question "do any of your cars leak fluids?" on them. 'Only coolant when I'm rippin skids on your front lawn' would be a nice answer! :laff: Unfortunately the minority give the majority a bad name. Most people who've just sunk $400k plus into an investment property don't want to risk some lazy grease monkey leaving parts & oil stains everywhere, aside from noise until all hours. Plus some anal types think "it's not a good look", the way I see it is I'm saving money that would've gone into a mechanics pocket to put into their pockets as RENT. Highpoint shopping centre for the win!! If anyone does ask, your car's 'broken down' & you're 'fixing' it. Hey MicMac, I reside in St Albans if that's close enough for you?, PM me if you're interested & we can work out date/time etc. Hell, if its the right kinda beer I might even be able to give you a hand.
  5. Needs twin-turbos... :P That is so cool, if only more drivers got it out of their system this way!
  6. 4AGZE/4AGTE...3SGTE...??
  7. An SV21 Camry badged as a Holden Apollo, 'champagne' in colour. Took it off road heaps despite it being in fairly decent nick, ended up being stolen.
  8. Evidence, as requested. :) That ute was freakin loud, well actually anything compared to the tincan was loud! :laff: Nothing from the night unfortunately. :(
  9. Love the colour! :y: I'll keep my eye on this one as I like the sound of your plans. I trialled as a diesel mech once...A) I kept forgetting to duck when going into the pit & smacked my head on the diff many times & B) They worked out that I wasnt suitable shortly after I did :laff: All the best with it though, when you go to work on the 'rolla it'll be a nice change for you!
  10. Not neccessary, he got the message loud & clear  If I did, I would've been expelled immediately & he wasnt worth it :no2: Cheers man! :y: Had spotted another boat thread here & thought to throw something different in the mix. It was a lot of fun going "back to school" (ironic as I dropped out of high school) & actually making something, well sorta useful. One fellow lined his with 2 part exapnding foam, shaved it flat, put plywood over it & turned his into a mobile esky  He was into rowing, so he had no interest in boats that you face forward in. Beware the old wooden hulls that may or may not have been looked after as needed. I've seen more than one end up more trouble than it was worth!
  11. So the rear strut brace & the roll cage I spotted are included in stock chassis/suspension? :P Other than that, freaking aewsome!
  12. Edit: it double posted on me for some reason. :(
  13. So much for being out of acetylene! It was bloody cold last night when I called it quits, so I went back today with a small brainwave. I left the cylinder out in the sun for about 10 minutes & I think I managed to eke enough gas pressure out of it to finsih of the job! WIN! A bit of buckling/distortion to deal with but at least my sunroof will now fit! I even think my welding techniques getting better...maybe :laff: Am so happy now that this lot of major works is done & dusted.
  14. Legally they can put terms/conditions on the lease for the place, which you agree to by signing it. So technically yes. don't get me started on councils & THEIR legislation.
  15. Heya easty, welcome to Rollaclub! :y: I'm an AExx Corolla guy myself, but I do know there's heaps of info for KExx's here. Check out the "For Sale" section, usually some good buys can be had there. Lots of rims floating around, mostly in rwd stud pattern though :( The forums "Search" function should turn up some threads which will probably answer any questions you may have about your new ride (good score by the way!), there's a lot of people who have come & asked before!
  16. I had long hair (grown it for about 2 & a bit years) & kept it tied back. He was the guy who decided to grab it with one hand & had a big blob of 2 part expoxy glue on a stick in his other hand. I just wanted to make it clear where I drew the line at joking around, sure joke about doing it if I'm being a smartass. But sneaking up behind someone & grabbing them by the back of the head is great way to get hurt, could just be me though. I'm 27 now, so it been a while since I built it :laff: Shame I'm slow & it hasnt made the water yet  I'd like to build one of these: They're a hydrofoil based craft called a "Moth". Full carbon fibre construction, supposedly like a sail-powered skateboard on water & sailed correctly can do 17 knots in a 12 knot wind. Yes, it can sail faster than the propelling wind! *drools*
  17. I'm in the same boat as altezzaclub, old CRT monitor means everything has corners  Repeat to infinity, specialist maths, limit functions.... :blinks: 8/ :blinks: :hammer: 8S :hammer: My brain just imploded. Reason for edit: Every time I try to type altezzaclub, I end up with altexxaclub..dammit!
  18. This project, proudly supported by BEER :laff: Tacky, tacky, tacky, tacky... All looking good so far. Started running some small weld sections. It was at this point I ran out of acetylene. :bash: >| :bash: Public holiday, BOC not open...sooo close!! On the upside, once I get a fresh cylinder I'll be able to finish the sunroof & fix the broken hinge on the shed door. Bloody hard to open when the door only has one hinge, could do it with the arc welder but I so prefer the oxy over it I lack the motivation to dig it out of my shed. Going to use today as an actual day off over this long, long weekend & try to get prepared for going back to work. :( I'm glad I don't do metalwork for a living, I take forever to do anything that a profesional would finish before lunch :P On the upside, I'm not paying labour costs!
  19. Thanks man :y: I still need to get some sails for her, hunting around local sailing clubs will turn something up but due to space-challenged living arrangements atm she wont be out until the car is done. :( Cheers Hendo, yeah most boats like this would have fibreglass reienforcerments if anything, I just used offcuts laying around. The bow/keel has external fibreglass reo's on it so when coming into shore the bottom will grind that, not the plywood. Might just make a stainless plate for it one day. These offcuts werent any good for work stuff but my old boss refused to throw stuff out. That worked out in my favour when I discovered a black/blue carbon/kevlar cloth that had been laying around for 10 years or so. He didnt want it & I scored enough to do the top layers of my bonnet, front lip & (eventually) hatch spoiler  Funnily enough, I have actually pinched something for the interior of my car from a Nissan Skyline GTR, so it'll be close enough?
  20. A BMW petrol engine with a rev limit of 4800rpm?!?!? *HEART ATTACK*
  21. Just done a run home to do some washing, thought I'd upload these progress shots now & the final results when I get back tonight. Got the sunroof fill piece ground & washed, same with the area surrounding the hole. Getting good alignment any way possible! Happy, happy, happy!
  22. Nothing personal, just couldnt help myself with a dig at Sunshine
  23. I'm loving the work you've put in! :y: I reckon a black blanket on the dash for the win! The discovery of the metal scouring pad in the panel reminds me of the Top Gear US Special where they're pulling newspaper out of the Cadillac. :laff: I'm with you on the spider thing...daddy longlegs will happily watch me bleed my brakes, the little jumping ones are kinda cute, but the aggressive, venomous ones suck! Usually only get redbacks (mostly males) & white tails down my way so I don't envy you. :( Have taken to wearing gloves when playing with cars that have been standing for a bit, I don't like sticking my hands where I can't see them. Keep it up!
  24. Back at it, this bit was a pain. On the downside, I blew a few holes :bash: On the upside, I've become pretty darn good at filling them! Doesnt matter how long you've been welding, you still jump when the torch backfires on you :laff: Its in! Well this side anywho. Okay, so it aint MIG-neat, but its sound. Now for the drivers side. An interesting way of getting the right fit... Tack, tap with hammer, tack, tap with...repeat! All done! Not all the weld run looked like this, but a clean up with a grinder will help me find any dodgy spots. *fingers crossed there are none* That darn cat! The sunroof infill piece is on for today!
  25. PM sent, got me curious :)
