Eoi - Road Trip To Qld And Everything Between
carbonboy replied to Evan G's topic in VIC / Melbourne
What Evan has suggested sounds like something I'm keen for, my boss doesnt work on Melbourne Cup weekend/holiday so the time off is doable. I hadnt really thought much about actually doing anything than visiting RollaClub members along the way (getting them to meet us along our route?) & having a plane flight booked for home when I get there. :blinks: I'll have a chat with my boss when he's a bit less stressed (maybe in a week or three :() about an extra day or two, though I'm not liking my chances. My thinking there was to take my daily driver Blue Thing (I'm sure we can find a 4AC along the way if her 2AC dies :laff:, thought about taking the project if she's finished but a round trip to Cairns on fresh paint?!? Hellllllll no! :no2: Plus I'd only be able to take 1 other person  It's not that I don't have faith in a K-motor to get me HOME as well, it's just that...well okay, I don't foresee an OLD K-motor lasting a round trip :laff: Multiple drivers means we can have the option of driving overnight to get us some extra time up there? I'll be the first volunteer for the night shift, my sleep pattern's easy to kick around :P P.S - I'm not sure if we can bring our coconuts (& bananas!) back with us :hmm: Pretty sure quarrantine people wont like the idea... -
Removal = OOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

Thanks mate! :y: :hmm: You could be right about the hardener, it was freezing cold the night I applied it so I may have been a bit enthusiastic with it. It didnt look THAT intense in real life, could just be the camera that emphasises it :( Sanded up okay, will keep an eye on things when doing the roof!

I generally get the warning that I'm driving a bit too hard by the sound of my passengers head hitting their window due to excessive body-roll

I don't want to rain on the wet blanket on your parade, but by the time you've bought all of this & installed it, a 4AGE could be fitted & would blow the cam cover off the 'worked' 4AC in terms of performance & reliability. Edit: By the way, welcome to the Corolla community! :y: Always good to have another Falcodore convert! :P

If you were in the car with me, I'd much prefer you to say something about my driving to me first, rather than have the handbrake ripped on at random whilst in motion....If something WASNT said first, that person would then be walking. A close friend of mine recently commented to me about how my habit of tailgating or not maintaining a big enough gap kinda made him nervous. This comment replayed through my mind when I'd be driving home from work etc as I'd had some feedback, so I'm proud to say I have begun to change my habits. Sometimes it's all that's needed to make someone aware of things that they do that they may not be conciouss of... :)

Cheers man! I'm trying to make it look like nothing ever happened... :D Or at the very least if you don't know the lines of an AE82 you'd never pick it  I've just looked at the last lot of update pics (taken with phone) versus the new ones (taken with camera)... What happened to the colour of my bog? Yes, its the same lot! :wtf: I don't remember it being THAT orange, but its cured  Oh well, got the outside sanded. Slap on some MetalMend & while that's curing, use a chisel to take the high points off the inside bog work. Annnnd start sanding... More sanding... Still sanding...bugger it, I'm tired, prime the bare metal & go home to bed!

Good to hear the throttle cable just needed a bit of a tighten :) I believe you can also play with your throttle position adjuster if your idle's too high etc, but if it's fine just leave things alone  :laff: No flaming here, if the car suits your wants, needs, budget & is in decent condition it sounds like a good option. Are you looking to modify it? If so, whats the support (parts-wise) like? If not, a good choice! :y: An AE82 TC could be had for about that money, not sure if it'd have rwc & rego though :hmm:

Most of the time yes, there will be the minority who take it to a stupid level. Like doing it in places that are generally dangerous (railway tracks anyone??), places where they're trespassing, causing damage to property etc. Doing it at this kinda level, yeah it's like extreme ironing, good for a laugh & harmless. Same, I'd never heard of it until Fridays Herald Sun had a feature on planking... :blinks:

Yum yum yum  Excellent taste sir! You're right, loud exhaust doesnt go with grandpa-spec looks...needs side pipes!!! :laff:

Last nights progress (not much, bloody cold!): MetalMend sanded back. The bog-work begins. The bog-work continues. Yes the heater was necessary! :)

:y: Amen to that! It's when I was reading a factory manual for the car & in the photos there they're using Castrol oil that I realised if the mechanics who serviced them used it, it can't be all that bad. Admittedly Magnatec wasnt created back then, but you catch my drift

I was guessing AE86DC as well...but rolaclub's sooo much cooler  Reminds me of a lesson I learned from my late Grandmother..if you can't repect your elders, keep ya mouth shut! :) By the way, that Deborah in your video link is kinda yummy! -
*In David Attenborough-style voice* Here...we have a colony of cable ties, feeeding...in their natural environment. Moving freely...relaxed...completely unaware that they are...in fact...being slowly stalked by their natural predator...the AE86 Corolla. :P

Annoyances? Video looked good to me, darn those Evos! Your car prep theory seems a great way to go! Oh, the seat looks sweet as well  Comfy as well as secure?

Tccav Cars, Coffee And Donuts Meet 15Th May 2011

Whoa...good man! :blinks: Other other rolla club? :blinks: I'm seriously lost now... I'd kinda wondered that myself... Cheers dude! :y: You werent alone...I want my 3 minutes & 37 seconds back!! :( -
a) :lmao: b) I hate to admit it :P but he's got a good point. You could do the conversion, but from a financial point of view & the amount of time/work involved it makes more sense to just get one with it...or one with a 20V like the AE101 you mentioned :). However, just because something make sense doesnt mean to say that you HAVE to go with that option, it's your car . I originally wanted to yank the 2AC out of my Blue Thing & put a 4AGE in...I saw the big picture of what was involved & promptly bought a Twin Cam  Then again, I was under-skilled & lazy at that point :lolcry: c) SSS Pulsar = good choice! :y: Good aftermarket support, pretty good in factory form anywho, engines either sound nice or horrible depending on your taste, not sure if there's a middle ground :P

Are you referring to the grade (viscosity) of oil or brand name (manufacturer) of oil? Brands seem to be a personal thing, the grade of oil recommended by your cars manual should be the grade to use as far as I know. Unless there are extreme extenuating circumstances.
