  1. Physically (engine mounts) - Yes - A series engine with C series gearbox  Emotionally (wiring loom) - No - Carby vs EFI :no2: Spiritually - Use forum search function, Google & ae82.net for enlightenment! :)
  2. Cheers mate, eye's feeling better but still can't see much out of it. Hoping for good news from the doctors this afternoon *crosses fingers*. Can we use silicone instead of glue? That way it'll just peel off my face rather than peel my face off
  3. Is just a bolt-on upgrade away, pick your poison! :) - Brake upgrades Agreed :) Which engine All of this, true! Which engine do you currently have? EFI or carby? If you're not sure, there will be a silver plate riveted to the engine bay firewall which will have this information on it, should be '4A...' Edit: a "pile" question? :blinks:
  4. I'm trying (not to go nuts) :laff: Cheers man! :y: I've been out of action for only a day & a half & I'm hanging to get something done! That wheel tub's gonna cop it when I get back! :lolcry:
  5. I just re-read your entire thread... (took a while, only one eye atm ) When you play with cars you don't muck around do you? :no2: Just wanted to say that you obviously know your stuff, love the ingenuity & that I enjoy reading your findings :) Shame I don't have a KE70 anymore, you don't have any desire to experiment with 4AGE's do you?
  6. Cheers mate :y: I've often thought that everything in life can be related back to The Simpsons, still to be proven wrong (see below) :D The goggles are fine :P :laff: This incident happened at work so I didnt have them with me :( Had normal safety glasses on, cutting a hole in a lath & plaster ceiling, had almost a waterfall of dust fall from the roofspace, create a dustcloud as it bounced off my arm & some got in behind the glasses. Nothing high speed or burning hot, but if I copped the brunt of that dustcloud in the face w/o glasses, both of my eyes would be seriously messed up right now. :n: Things are all good with my boss, he was hanging shit on me (of course) but was genuinly concerned at the same time (if that makes sense). I do feel kinda bad as I'd just gotten back from a week of trade school, so once I'm healed I'd better bust my arse a little! How did you go getting that sliver out of your eye? That could've done some serious damage! After the pain/discomfort you would've been feeling, hell-weird would probably be a good thing! The strangest part for me was seeing my vision distort every time the doc touched my eyeball picking stuff out. :blinks: Yeah, lesson learnt though! Why is it I nearly always require the hard way? :laff: It's doing okay, still aching every now & again because of the scratches but no longer the "I want to slam my head into a wall to stop this hurting" pain of Monday night :no2: Hardest thing is trying to keep myself amused, there's not a lot I can do atm & you can only sleep so much.
  7. Nice paint, fat wheels, chunky front end...I like! :y: More pics! :)
  8. Howdy all, just wanted to let you know that there wont be any work done/any updates for about a week. I sustained a minor eye injury yesterday & have to sit in a dark-ish room until it heals, can't do much as I can't see a whole lot :( On the upside, it WILL heal so can't wait to get stuck back into things! Oh & going back to work too :P *Note* If it wasnt for safety glasses I probably wouldnt have vision at all, so keep wearing them people!
  9. There's an orange Audi A4 called the 'General Lee' floating around out there on youtube, I believe it's running a similar setup with this engine? Like the content in 7shades post, the noise made me shiver! It'd turn heads, snap necks & rearrange internal organs...
  10. Seeing as I'm the third person to say "DO IT!", you have to now! :lolcry: Fantastic work so far man, 3SGE Beams for the win!!!
  11. :poke: :D Any news?
  12. Sweet! It's the little things that matter sometimes :)
  13. :lmao: Edit: Outside in driveway playing with Blue Thing atm, newish coil going in, centre console piece, storage box under radio going in, replacing broken rear seat fold-levers & trim piece around dash clock going in. Depending on energy levels, I might also install the cd player I scored from 19914afc & even a passenger side mirror! Which it's never had :no2:
  14. There's two red AE82 Seca's at Campbellfield Pick A Part, different front guards due to different park lights but pretty straight. They also have both variants of the 'Corolla" insert/trim thingy onthe tailgate, both intact. One has been pillaged a little by me for some good trim bits, also missing are starter motor, dizzy, coil & the under-radio stroage box  But both still have plenty to offer. A few AE9x secas & sedans, didnt see anything that looked particularly special but I was working to a time frame so didnt wander too far. Also a well picked KE55 coupe with the fuel tank now in the boot, square headlights still there :blinks: Edit: I think it's all good now
  15. Got into Blue Thing yesterday morning to go to trade school, turn key, nothing! Have power etc, damn starter did sound a little laboured last night :hmm: Rock car back & forth in gear, try starting again, still nothing, damn! No time to muck around with it, called up a guy in my class who comes past my way, he was almost at school but seeing as I'd bought him brekky the day before he was more than willing to come back & give me a lift. Win! :) Got home, manual out, short the solenoid & starter terminals & have spark but no start. That means the solenoid's fine & the motor itself is kaput :( Managed to briefly get the starter to wind the motor over but man, did it not sound healthy! :no2: I didnt get home until it was too late to source another so just yanked out the old one & moved my car so I could get my housemates out of the driveway. Had to work up in Gisborne this morning, damn 'little' jobs ALWAYS end up having some previously unforeseen complication so it wasnt until about 3pm that I could get out to the wreckers. There were a few secas there, noticed one with a different front which had smaller park lights & different guards to suit. Grille & headlights appeared to be the same. :hmm: The style I have (this was a 1987 build car): The other one I saw, the light isnt screwed in, just sitting there (this was a 1985 build car). An AE9x with a 6AF :) What an AE82 spare wheel tub looks like standard :lolcry: One of these secas had only done 20,00kms since the cam belt had been changed (written on timing cover :D) & generally looked well looked after compared to the others...I may have violated it for parts just a little!! The dog's in trouble as he decided to piss on my workshop manual! >| Got the starter motor hooked up, Blue Thing's now running again! Now I can use it to go work on the Project again :laff:
  16. Maybe you weren't the occupants they were expecting? :hmm:
  17. WGMG - Going to start car to go to trade school this morning & discovering my starter motor has shat itself... Oh wait...wrong thread! :P WMMH - Kharma, the guy in my class I shouted breakfast yesterday morning answering his phone & doing a short-notice detour to pick me up & bring me home! :y: WMMH - Good scotch, ^^^ 7shades's post :laff:, building/making/modifying things, knowing that my greatest responsibilty at the moment is looking after my dog.
  18. Honestly, I got a bit weary of dealing with the roof section. When I was doing the engine bay works I found it getting harder & harder to get motivated to do much. This was simply because of being in the one place for an extended period, doing the same stuff :( I've found by breaking things up by having other things to kick along another stage or so lets me think about things a bit more, clear the head  Enough D&M, update! Back in the wheel tub I did me a 'lil sanding...didnt like the feel of it all :hmm: (same shot, just with/without flash, differences in lighting can help show up what I'm chasing after) Somebody hide the damn filler can! *Note the spot welds left un-bogged* This kinda looks like my welding :laff: Shaping, without & with flash. Dusted off, washed down & gave the bare metal a shot of primer & some spray putty where needed. I had some bubbling of the primer near the rear, possibly contamination, possibly vapour bubbles from me spraying too much primer at once. Fixed now either way  With/without flash. It was late, it was cold, I'd had enough for the night. :P
  19. Darn! I'd been hoping for photos as I thought about getting out there then realised: It's in Mitcham...at 9.30pm...that means I'd get home at... :blinks:  I did however duck out for a kebab for dinner while waiting for bog to cure last night! :laff:
  20. SSR's for both looks & not having to run a spacer. Go something different, go polished centres & black lip :y:
  21. Edit: Philbey quotes the text from here further down, I'm just gonna sit in the corner & learn me something! :laff:
  22. Debadging a car parked in a military base carpark... :hmm: That's brave with a large does of stupidity thrown in!
  23. Ditto, it can be quite easy to do :) I only read the newspaper when I can pinch it from my workmate, major stuff you'll hear about unless you really are under a rock :laff: Some guy dies whilst planking? Yay, the human gene pool received some chlorine, big deal :P
  24. The problem I have with Triple J is, well, I don't like 75% of the music they play. It's not that I don't know the songs (it's new music so why would I?) it's just that they're not what I'm after to work to. :no2: So in regards to ToasticlesAe82's suggestion, I usually use my phones music player & built in FM transmitter to solve the problem. Downside is it only has a 32gb memory so I run short of toones real quick :laff:
  25. I.e AE82 TwinCam front strut tops, can be rotated to give more castor :)
