Mmmm...TVR's :) We wanna save weight, who needs side intrusion beams?!? :laff: The guy in the Viper probably doesnt really need first gear, that 8-point-something litre V10 should have enough torque right? :P I believe that was a good friend of mine 'testing' how different his 1JZGTE-VVTi was to the previous 2JZGE that inhabited the engine bay  It just confirms my theory that yes you can go out & buy a fantastic car for $300k plus, but you can also go out & build something that will go better for less than a third of that  I'm not saying Ferrari's, Porsches, Lamborghinis etc are $h1t, I'm just glad I don't have the money as the other road is much more fun to travel :D

It's much neater inside now I swear! Stock AE80 interior into bin for the win! I really should've brought his jacket :( Not as bad as the other tiny thing we saw there though! :lolcry: -
Yum yum nom nom nom... :D Just wondering, are you a photographer for a living or just a really good, skilled enthusiast? Your photos are awesome, currently have the rainbow shot as my desktop background  Front bar looks good too :P

Nice going with the work experience! :y: Poor Dad for having to bust his bum. :( Any idea roughly what time you'll be at Pinch-A-Part? I was thinking of heading that way today for an ignition coil bracket, would be nice to meet up/say g'day  If not, another time! :D

New setup. Decided to run a twin-line setup for $h1ts & giggles. don't really need it, but handy to have I guess :) The other filter plugs in here then the air line plugs into it. I should've done this months ago! :laff:

Went down to the shed for a reccy run, have been so focused on the friggin wheel well that now it's done, I was kinda lost as to where to go next  ;) Made a decision, roof & hatch area are up for a grind, rust convert, grind again, wash & prime now that that I've solved the compressor problem :D Tightened all the bolts/nuts/screws, changed the oil, cleaned the air filters, drained the water from the tank, buggered off the old line from tank setup (which was a few bits of air line, hose clamps & fittings - i.e dodgy) & knocked up my own. It now has a shutoff valve at the tank, copper hard line to an oil/water & air separator with another copper hard line to the regulator with built-in water/air separator. I also have another filter that plugs in after the regulator. Sounded much healthier when I fired her up & the lines had no leaks at maximum operating pressure (120psi) The tank's rated to 150psi but seeing as she's an ol' girl I acquired as 'surplus' for free & does the job nicely as is, why thrash her? :no2:

Sad to hear about all the dramas & issues that seem to have plagued you with this ride :( However you seem to be getting on top of it all, maybe not as quickly as you'd like but... :y: :D You've also done a great job tidying her up, cam cover looks schweeeeet & it sounds like your daughter would be quite upset with you if you were to get rid of it :laff: Rust is a bitch  "Ahh there's only a little bit there..... *grind* WTF?!?!" is something along the lines of how it goes?

Ditch the roof lights, the rear wing & swap the rims for something less bling-bling & I like it :y: Probably sounds sacrilegious to all you KExx fans but... :P Edit: NOT the green one!!!
-
+1 to that! Fantastic work so far mate, I sat & read the full thread...2 coffees, a mandarin & a muffin later I end up here thinking your 20's going to end up looking very, very nice indeed. :D +1 to that too! :y: Daily's are great things  Would this be the Stanza that made me smile when I parked next to it at the CC&D? :) Edit: Smile, not laugh, I do like some old Dattos :P

Jeez that's tight... :o As long as you can open doors to stash stuff inside if you have to  :laff:
-
I've been using a cold-gal primer first over the welds I've done & the bronze-soldered joins on the body/panels (for instance, roof to A-pillar join or the window frame to the main body of the doors) have had a hit of epoxy etch primer first then the 2-pack primer :) I'll admit the wheel well is just pressure pack atm as my compressor's being a $h1t.... :abuse: But once it's sorted out the 2-pack's going on! Same stuff, just pressure pack rather than spray gun. Since my friends garage isnt exactly 100% weather proof, she lives underneath a tarp as well to keep the rain & drips off, so thankfully she stays dry. ;) Sadly I can't do anything about the moisture in the air :bash: but I'm hoping the primer will keep the cancer at bay until topcoat? Which is going to be done in a proper spray booth by the by.

+1 The good news is, there's a fair bit that you can shove into an 82  The bad (well, not really) news is, you're in for a bit of reading & re-reading (& if you're like me, re-re-reading :laff: ) to find out the info you're after to make a decision on what to do. Good luck & seeya at AE82OC :y:

^^^^^ Oh hell yes!!! I gotta build me one of those!

Sucking in warm air from the engine bay isnt all that great... :( Sound I can't help you with, great way to attract the wrong attention though. Throttle response...would probably be better with the standard setup on it.

Edit: Damn phone & double posting :(

I know there's no point in buying really good tyres for the rear as you're just gonna shred them :laff: But maybe spend a little extra & get some good ones for the front at least? :) Doesnt matter what brakes/suspension you have, if your tyres are $h1t, your grip levels will be too  Having said that, I understand budgets, I'm on an apprentices wage :y: Coming along nicely! White car, black rims...

That's some pretty extreme promotion for a movie...faking a death? Wonder what public backlash would be like if it did turn out to be a stunt.... Hope he's stuffing Jello into Satans ear
-
Your fun would be limited, from what I know the gearbox/transfer case isnt compatible with a 4AGE :( There would be a lot of fabrication required  i.e installing a rear diff in a car designed for FWD. There's a US guy (who calls it his "bad idea") on ae82.net who's attempting to put the celica all-trac 4wd system into an FX-GT :blinks: Having seen some of his previous work I dare say he will succeed, bugger all chance of having one on the road here though :(

The engine bay seams have crossed my mind a few times, despite any extra bracing I can do... :blinks: I have the same concerns, contemplating stripping it back & using proper seam sealer :bash: I just don't know to be honest :( Etch primer needed only for non-ferrous metals? Planned & systematic was the idea  That went out the window :laff: when I went from living in a nice sized house with a big backyard with carport, 3m x 6m brick garage & a 9m x 7.5m shed with loft :D... ...to a shoebox house with a 3m x 6m garage & a big backyard with no shelter :( It's been fun just trying to find places to stash stuff & keep it safe. I admit it isn't the best way to go about things, but when the shell is not where I live & I have parts & pieces in 4 different postcodes, I do the best I can :y: I realise some people have it worse than I do, I feel for them! :lolcry: @ Blue Thing. Man , I so should've at least washed it first! :P It is the daily, so it gets serviced...& anything that breaks gets replaced  The dents & other imperfections can stay, they add 'character' I think :no2: I had hoped to be able to do more work at previously mentioned property (everything there & room to move plentiful but...*slap* well I didnt & have to deal with it :) OMFG....:lolcry: :lolcry: :lolcry: I had never seen that clip until then, that's GOLD! With a stripped interior you could almost fit that many people in it...performance would be hampered somewhat, but then again with all those girls there's a good reason to add a turbo cuz!!! :lmao: Seriously though, great to meet you guys & put some faces to forum names. :paperbag: :scarymovie: :elvis: :pimp:

Again with the details & the little things...top stuff! :y: That looks like a handy little storage unit, must've been fun to track that down.

Having seen this beauty (KE70) in the flesh on the weekend, again, all I can say is "WOW!" It was like being taken back in time nearly 30 years to when it was brand new. Hell, ignore the odometer reading & you'd swear it was! I had to double check I didnt have a mullet going on... :laff: 'overrated', as everyone says, does get thrown around a lot. To me, it applies only to original things or as close as possible to original. I.e if the car were to have a respray in an original xE7x colour, it would still be overrated, not so if it were sprayed Tiger Mica *shudder* for example :P No, I'm not suggesting it needs a respray, just giving an example  This is overrated!!! I f-ing love it! :y: :y: :y:

Bugger :( Crappy weather or other commitments? There's always something to get in the way of car works! Pics!
-
Sadly, nope, otherwise it would've been done a few times by now :) (if someone has done this, feel free to correct me, I'd love to see it! ) Would dare say you'd have to customise/mix n match pretty much everything (bar engine mounts?) to make it fit/work. Think different wheelbases/driveshafts, the fact an AE82 exhaust tunnel isnt quite large enough to cope with a tailshaft as well as an exhaust & the rear diff would be an ass to fit :( Having said that though, if you do go down the path...PICS!!! :D

WMMH - Progress  & a hot shower! :D
