The Toyota wreckers on Westwood Drive in Deer Park, wanted $75 for the top half only of an AE82 airbox. I know I'm an Aussie, they're Eastern European, it's Friday arvo & they're all behind the counter drinking Crownies, but honestly, do I look that stupid?!? Oh wait, I used a dirty word for them...honest. :P

When my AE82 TC was running it had Genie headers with a lot of mucking around to get it to go to the catalytic converter then through a resonator to a ??? cannon muffler. It of course had a drone (earplugs recommended for long trips) at freeway speeds, but a nice crackle-pop on throttle lift-off. :)

Whoa...you do have some work to do! If it makes you feel any better, I've seen plenty of cars with electrical wiring like that over here by people who should know better. I now understand the meaning of Indonesian Paint Job... :blinks: That switch next to the A/C colder knob, could that be a dimmer switch for the dash lights?

Edit: WGMG - When my phone decides it wants to double post!!
-
So you don't mind the R32 then? The main problem with Skylines is a lot of wankers buy them... :P Droid bodykits on Mitsubishi Mirages....urrgh!
-
^^^ Win!! No hard feelings when the tax man doesnt get anything more from you lol.
-
Save money, don't buy pepsi & just buy the rum
-
Really? I kinda like it :P Edit: If I were to get picky, that front lip has enough frontal area to be a permanent air-brake, but meh! :)

Not too sure about friends (don't wanna dob them in, they can do that ) or family but... Before Blue Thing I had an '82 KE70 XX, red (chalky of course) with 14" Chevoits, 4K 5spd, air-con & sunroof. When the 4K died & Blue Thing came along, the wheels went to a mate & a guy on a tow-truck came & picked up the car, gave me $50 for it. The rust in it was easily repairable & engine aside, the mechanicals were still good. :bash: There's my stupidest moment so far.

Welcome to Rollaclub, with your methods of extracting payment you should fit in nicely here. When I'm using eBay, if the seller has a feedback score of LESS than 96.0%, I wont buy from them. Has kept me out of trouble so far! :) Sounds like you've got a bit of work to do, I look forward to seeing your progress in your rides thread.

Mmm...KYB :D I'm in.

I forgot the camera again, making do with the dodgy camera phone. :P Again, let loose with the bog after a scuff up & a wash. Let the hard blocking begin! Nah, not dusty. :P A couple of touch ups. Done & dusted. I have the feeling that I've done this before... :hmm: First coat of primer. A few coats later. One side down! :D

WMMH - Upgrading the computer from a 40 GB hard drive to a 2 TB item. :D Also, the track-ball mouse I had from 1996 finally died, I like these new-fangled optical mice-thingies! Especially when you get one with a keyboard for $20.
-
WMMH - Calling my parents about stopping past to visit them, get told by mother: "If you want muffins, you'd better bring an empty container!" Two dozen banana & choc-chip muffins...WIN! :D
-
Well, it's been a while & not much has been done, kinda hard to get down to work on it atm. :( Someone let me near the bog again... Touch-up some areas I wasnt happy with.

Ahh the Porsche Cayenne, I intensely dislike these things but the sales of which helped fund the development of the GT3 etc. So I've come to accept their existence. :D
-
Until they make a 998RS... :P Interesting thought, a car I'd part with the 'rolla for... :hmm: The genuine R34 4-door GTR sitting in the Nissan Motor Museum. I don't set my sights too high at all... :laff: Edit: If I were to swap for a Porsche, I'll take a 959, Paris to Dakar spec!
-
I think if I got to drive either in anger it would be more a sexual moment than a religious one!
-
When you have 4x4 standard ride height (like me), you tend to hit the speedhumps a wee bit faster than when you're driving a lowered car.
-
Amen! How much are those GT3 brakes (carbon-ceramic rotor's?) worth to replace roughly? Not cheap I'd imagine! Remove meat from rotor, remove heatsink ability... & give cracks somewhere to start :P :blinks: So you mean my fuels hyper-oxygenator additive & TURBO air-filter don't actually help?
-
WMMH - Dumping a huge pile of junk from a clean up on the front lawn instead of having to pay to take it to the tip because our council decided to do a hard waste collection! :) Also, pulling up a chair & drinking a beer while watching all the 'seagulls' drive around with utes/trailers & raid the piles for scrap metal at night-time. :laff:
-
You could not have said it any better! :D Maybe some things have a 'placebo' effect... Say for instance, you fiddle with your suspension settings, the car may not actually handle any better or go any faster directly because of this. But, because in your mind you "know" that the car will now be faster, you could actually drive faster because of an increase in confidence rather than performance? Could removing weight & therefore increasing the mathematical power to weight ratio could have the same effect on the brain? I am not attempting to be a psychiatrist, just thinking out aloud. :)
-
You sure could, Earls are pricey buggers though from memory! :hmm:
-
Welcome aboard! :D Good luck with the impending acquisition. Edit: ^^^ That is, if you buy a 'rolla!
