  1. Thanks heaps mate, it might look good in photos but it's as yet untested (getting around to it...one day). So whether anything holds up is unknown, in theory it'll work... communism works in theory... At this point she's stashed in my parents garage keeping the lawnmower company. Bugger on missing out on a ride on Nicorette! Until Wild Oats came along she was one helluva yacht, even still she's pretty quick! I blame my crappy CRT monitor but I can't make out what her name is in the pic. :hmm: Edit: Just went to save the photo & saw the filename was WildOatsXI...I can now just make it out on the boom cover! Yeah, she's got all the good bits: foam-cored carbon/kevlar hull, carbon mast, think he switched to carbon rigging (or at least parts of it), hydraulic canting keel...*drools*. In a sport where sail area matters, she can make much bigger boats look sluggish. Just wondering on the R/C...RollaClub or Remote Controlled? Build thread either way! :y: :blinks: On my 4A-GE! :D
  2. You know, you make it all sound so simple :laff: Top work mate! :y:
  3. WGMG - House hunting, 6+ years of peaceful living arrangements come to an end. There's always plenty of options around when you don't need 'em! :( Also, being called a liar, without the person directly saying "you're a liar".
  4. Sounds like a no-go on the shortcut, bugger! :( If Toyota have continued the theme of 'one plug, one-port' you might just be in luck. The AE82's you can't get wrong, you can only put a plug in one place either due to it being a different shape/size and/or not enough wire to physically reach. :)
  5. On all the detail stuff like the seams/spot-welds specifically? I'm not sure to be honest, would have to run back through my diary & get you a total. Some would say stupid amounts, *shrugs* but could be achieved faster than I have done with a proper workshop area setup. :) I could, but dunno about making money, the labour costs would kill me! :lolcry: Pics of pushies? Have always regarded them as a fun, alternative transport as our public transport system.....let's say it doesn't work for me. Watching dfunkt compete in a cyclocross event recently sorta ignited a spark to finally fix the damn bike after, oh, 8 or 9 years. :D I didn't/I still am, which could explain a few things... Learning as you go can be fun, tricky & scary, but fun. :) Welding I learnt as part of my apprenticeship so that was a bonus, granted that was 3mm plate & my car's 1mm but it just took practice. In the grand scheme I am just an amateur, the skills & technical knowledge of some other forum members for instance far surpass mine.
  6. To think that I just threw out the rest of my cassette tapes because they had become unplayable. :( I've heard you can get these "MP3's" from this new place called Napster? Have been meaning to check it out! Wiring...:blinks:... *not a fan of this particular part of cars myself* Seriously though, a) is the other dash better/nicer & b) will it save you time/hassle in the long run?
  7. I learned to drive in one of these: Gawd I miss the Big Blue Love Machine... :( Had evil plans to do engine swap like this guy (minus paint colour & bodykit): ^^^ Clicky Clicky :)
  8. Test/replace thermostat/water-pump, clean out radiator, check/adjust ignition timing...? :hmm:
  9. Only heard about that $h1tstorm on the radio last night... :blinks: Money talks I guess, betting Mark Harvey's got a bit to say about it all. Immensely, thankyou! Could've taught him to kick straight for us though... +1,000, 000, 000.   Friday night, game on!
  10. Now coated in a primer-like substance. :D Complete with spray putty for the bogged bits. Have to go back & touch up the drivers side of this, as I've compared the two & I've done a better job of the passenger side... :bash: :laff: Then the upper areas & the bailey channels...possibly!
  11. Not too much happening at the moment, wanting to rebuild my old pushbike before I rip the intake manifold (well both manifolds as it's a stupid combined manifold setup) off Blue Thing (convinced I have a vacuum leak, swapped over the auto-choke & nothing changed) as odds are it'll be off the road for at least two days. The bike I pulled apart, threw away anything that was worn out & this is what I was left with: All the bushes in the pivot points of the rear swingarm were shot & every bike store I went to had no clue as to where to source new ones. So I made my own, using 1/2" copper tube & some polypropylene washers. No sloppy bits now! Plus a seat post clamp, heatset & bare handlebars... Everything else is arriving at my door all shiny new courtesy of ebay hopefully sometime this week, I <3 free shipping! Anyways, back to the car... Got the passenger side lower door sill detailing sanded & spot filled. All sanded & washed.
  12. *cough* Fremantle *cough* :P Go Hawks! :D
  13. :lmao: Hmm...could do with some lovin'... Well, mine's prettier so... ner! :P As for the old radio, that'd look awesome if it still works! Took 20 years for Blue Thing to get a CD player... :laff: Go team resto go!
  14. Yay! Welcome back Trev, has been a while! :) Need all the '82 owners we can get around here.
  15. So, you get what you want......what is it that the missus wants in return? :P
  16. I'm there, will be trying not to sleep in this time! :)
  17. WMMH - Having not the greatest day to begin with, driving in traffic which is a notch above being a $h1tfight & hearing RATM's 'Killing in the name' start playing on the radio..... *VOLUME AT MAXIMUM* :D
  18. Wadaya mean I don't hav da 100kw 3-rib bigport cuz? :rolls: Ya know...I could've saved myself a fair amount of time researching & trawling through all the BS/myths out there (you've seen the forum threads, you should know what I mean  ) & just asked you in the first place! :P But where's the fun in that? Could've also just claimed I hit 9 instead of 8 but meh. It can be a PITA trying to work out what variant you have when its & the ECU's exact origins are unknown. Cheers man! P.S - I prefer the term nostalgic, out-dated soundss a bit harsh! :laff:
  19. So.... This :hmm:
  20. A little from column A, a little from column B... Wallet is still there but lighter than before, rego cost increased more than the licence was discounted. :( But it is good to see that the government's at least pretending to care!
  21. An AE82 with an 86kw (thanks Hiro!) 4AGE (standard) is faster than a 5.0 V8 VN Calais (satandard). As proven on a dragstrip too!
  22. Hope this doesn't count as a bump, a few more Mods & Senior Members floating around now. :P The ONLY nice letter I have EVER received from a Government-run organisation...
  23. Sorry to hear the bads news man, no injuries to yourself/anyone else in the car I hope? Commiserations on the loss. :drinks:
  24. Lord, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the Courage to change those that I can, and the Wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I may have to kill because they piss me off. No coffee equals no workee!
  25. Wow, she certainly changed a lot in your hands! :o IMO the VK is the 'toughest' looking of all the Commodores, given a late models heart & future mods, even more so! :y: I see you've done the same thing I have with receipts, kept them but not added them up to avoid sudden heart failure! :laff:
