  1. So...how expensive was her taxi ride home?
  2. I drive past this car pretty much every day, it'll buff out! :)
  3. ^^^ :lolcry: I once worked at a small supermarket where we employees were a pretty close bunch, so when one of the girls birthdays came up, we all went out clubbing for the night. Drinking, talking, dancing, having a good time... I spot a really good looking woman across the room & having a few dutch courages under my belt, wandered over to say hello. A long story short (& keeping it PG13 here) things got interesting between us & I'd say we both had a good night. Had the weekend off, rolled up to work Monday morning & found not only am I getting winks & giggles from coworkers, I'm being called up to see the boss. :blinks: Get to the office & find the boss there with his brother & niether were looking happy... Turned out the woman I was seen 'dancing' with not only worked there on the days I didn't, but was also the boss's sister-in-law, $h1t!!! Lots of questions were being asked, I just ran with the dancing only story as it seemed that that was all they knew for sure. I genuinly had NFI who she was at the time (wasn't wearing her ring at the time either) & through some sheer random luck, I not only walked out of the office unharmed, but still in a job! :D Agreed that clubs are places I now prefer to avoid, they bring out the best or the worst in people. Usually the latter. :(
  4. I think so... :hmm: Has been so long since I watched it! Previously mentioned bird in it's new home, a few bits of old shelving & some fencing wire comes in handy: It lived, so am stuck looking after it until it can fly again which could be a few weeks... :blinks:
  5. I'm in the process of finding & moving house at the moment but if you're wishing to have a horn button made of the real stuff to compliment the wheel, let me know. Might have some bits floating around to suit the purpose. If you're like me & don't have a fuel tank drain plug (despite my owners manual stating that I do), these pipes will only let you drain the tank to about halfway while still mounted to the car. I used a trolley jack under a piece of timber to support the tank, undid the fuel tank straps & lowered the bugger down. *Note to self* - Get drain plug fitted before putting car back together. :D Looking forward to progress pics judging by the teaser pics! :) Edit: Good luck with uni assignment!
  6. People also have a tendancy to touch stuff, they ask to have a look (involving eyes only) & then proceed to put their hands everywhere & anywhere. Safest thing to do as a viewer is to have your hands behind your back or stuffed in your pockets, less temptation that way. Pretend you're at a gentlemens club & there's a HUGE, angry looking bouncer right next to you. :P
  7. Brain fart...a Ferrari donk & two potential sleepers. :D
  8. :y: Good bit of gear, I was donated one my dad was given at work one time, never used. :P Those pre-filters you can buy in like packs of 5 or so are a good investment too, helps get a little more life out of the filter cartriges. Which I'm guessing are now the vapour type? :) :o Wow, great work on the car. It looks fantastic! Bag & tag for the win. :D
  9. F-yeah! On both counts. :y:
  10. All I see is a Ferrari donk & two potential donors...
  11. When driving the Twin Cam around, the most frequent question I was asked was "Has it got a GZE in it?". The standard answer became "What makes you think it does?". Noone asks me anything now I'm driving Blue Thing. :) I agree with going with your gut feeling about who you show your car off to, I mean it is your car & your choice when all is said & done. Does the person firing questions at you without listening to the answer or asking another while you're answering the previous question seem genuinly interested in the car? Or could they be scoping it out to steal? Sounds a little paranoid but it's always a possibility in this sometimes messed up world of ours... or maybe just where I live! Now I wonder if when I get told "nah don't know much mate, just got it", if that really is the case...? I have been at car shows where the response from the owner is less than favourable. One owner of a car was around as I was looking & I asked if they would mind popping the bonnet, I was convinced I'd seen an intercooler in the front & was seriously curious! The answer was being told rather bluntly that the bonnet was not open for a reason, that reason was not explained but take a hint, compliment the car & walk away.
  12. Nice work Dave! :y: It is kinda creeping up on us... Put me down to help out organising things, if you don't have my number just PM me. :) Put me down as a yes whatever the date, the time off work isn't (shouldn't be!) an issue. Just cross my fingers noone dobs me into the council again this time! :lolcry: I guess my challenge begins now, GOR 2012 in Blue Thing, or Gokai? :hmm:
  13. You guys are having breakfast at 11.45am? :blinks: I am completely off eggs now however... :P Speaking of eggs...well something related to birds anyway, I got home this afternoon & wandered out back to say hello to the dogs (2x whippets). Open the door to the little back room they stay in & there's feathers EVERYWHERE!!! :o This room has the outside wall completely glassed (aside from the frame obviously) & a glass sliding door which we leave open just enough for the dogs to go outside, do their thing & come back in. Somehow, not one but two pigeons have managed to not smack into the ~3 metres of glasss & flew through the ~200mm gap where the door's open. One....didn't make it, the remains are now in a bag in the rubbish bin. The other I found fluttering in a corner missing most of its tail-feathers, a puncture mark or two where some down feathers were & generally a wee bit panicky. Here's where I had my dilemma, WTF do I do? I generally have a thing against animals that are not native to this country (yes I'm aware that people are animals, that's another issue). However, I couldn't bring myself to possibly put it out of its misery. So, it's now in an old guinea pig hutch in the shed (don't ask what happened to the guinea pigs...;)) with some old towels, a water dish & some wild-bird seed mix. If shock doesn't kill it then I guess I'm stuck looking after it until it can fly again.
  14. What do you mean "again"? Doubt she's actually 'worked' a single day of her life! ;) WGMG - Getting my velocipede rebuilt (finally!) & no shakedown ride yet as it's pi$$ing down with rain! :( Normally not soft about riding in the rain but when testing if brakes/gears work smoothly....I'd like some dry please! :)
  15. Love this! :y: You know, I only read this thread last night & this morning I nearly crashed the workvan because I saw an Excel converted into a ute....flat alloy tray on the back & all! :blinks:
  16. Random bumper sticker:
  17. I got this wrong last time I tried this model but here goes. :P Spotted yesterday in the Sunshine shopping centre carpark at about 3pm, a white AE71 which was lowered & sporting MA61's (I think....), looked sweet as! :) Parked next to it, admired it, discovered SCA had moved across the road & took off. :laff:
  18. Gearbox + driveshafts + 3 strut/brake setups + exhaust + crate of A/C & P/S gear = instant low :P It does kind of look like I raided Shimanos catalogue, but it's all straight from the factories in Taiwan/Hong Kong. Same stuff you buy in stores, just ~60% cheaper courtesy of ebay! :D I also have the benefit of having played with this bike for about 10 years, only now am I fixing the rear swingarm issues but *meh*. The gear in the back of the car in the photos is now stashed safely in my Dads shed except for the front bumper, which is keeping the boat company. Yank out the rear seats completely & the front passenger as well & you WILL freak people out with how much stuff you can fit in these, love it! Working living arrangements out, have 2 possible options I'm investigating. Is it wrong that I'm more worried about a home for my car than me?
  19. This little dripper hose can also be used to drain the coolant from the radiator, quicker & easier to yank the bottom hose off but oh well. :laff: From what I saw from the spare unit I have for an '82 in the shed, the screw for the tap has a rubber o-ring fitted onto the end where it seats in the bottom of the radiator. If yours is knackered it could explain why the tap does nothing to stop the drip, as this would do more of the sealing than the thread of the tap would. :y: Noticed while I was out there that the outlet for the tap on that unit had been siliconed up....wonder why that may be... :hmm: :laff: The '92's looking beautiful mate, love your work! :y:
  20. Nothing's been happening car-wise at the moment, lots going on, not all of it good. :| Getting there... For those of you who are interested, some pushbike bits have been showing up at my door: Going to be assembling these parts to resemble a bike once I get my rear shock, front derailleuer & gearshifter/brake lever setup. Have road tyres to mount on these, needs MOAR dish! :D Also, I lowered Blue Thing.... Not really, just had it loaded with stuff to store in my parents shed for a few months until I can sort things out. Believe it or not, there's 3 bumpers in there! :) Man, I love hatchbacks with fold flat seats but thinking that my next car to replace BT will be along the lines of a Hiace... :hmm: Actually, I haven't neglected the car all-together! I just got back from picking a nice good-condition set of park lights for an AE82. :D No photo, but a big thankyou to Woz & Josh aka ewt! Was great to finally meet you guys, sorry I couldn't stay for dinner! :P
  21. Same here... :( Three fugging points!!! :bash:
  22. :D @ 4x4 supra. Memories of this car from the 2010 GOR, I remember loving it as you can get underneath & crawl from one side & get out the other without jacking it up. That & watching Pozman throw it through the bends...:blinks:... Loving your work with the '55 Poz! :y: Looks awesome in photos but saw her at Hanging Rock & a CC&D, much better in the flesh!
  23. Noice! Congratulations mate! :D I hopefully have the option of then starting the 2 years of night school I need to become licenced rather than just registered. F@$k, when I was at school I didn't want to be there, now I'm hanging to go back!
  24. I'm almost willing to bet that the tightarses had laid the pavers themselves to a save a few bucks, hence the $h1tty job! Good to see you give a toss about your work though man :y: , many others would've just gone ahead with the excavator, damn the pavers!
  25. WMMH - Starting 3rd year work at trade school with 3 months of my 2nd year still to go. The path to doing my journeymans mid-next year is looking good! :D
