  1. I do actually have twins running on my 4k at the moment (see my signature) I spent a grand getting them rebuilt and tuned and they run sweeeeet But my potential plan is to rejet and put these carbs on a 4age for several reasons 1. Already spent the coin rebuilding and setting them up 2. More power with the 4a of course 3. Something different 4. Don't need an ecu 5. Would sound farken awesome 6. Tunability As Jono pointed out though, I think i had better make sure that i will be able to register it like this :P
  2. Why don't you just work the f#%K out of your 4k motor? Stick a nice size cam in, port 'n' polish the head, get it port matched, electronic ignition, get yourself a weber and some extractors and have a ball!! I've got a worked 4k and i have to say it goes pretty damn hard for a N/A 1300 Wouldn't go as hard as a 4age but it sure smokes a lot of newer, small twin cam cars that are on the road today If it's important for you to stay a 1300 for class reasons then this alternative would be a whole lot less noodle scratching than trying to put a DOHC head on a single cam poshrod engine :( Anyway.....thats my two cents And welcome ;)
  3. Make this one more of a MEAT and greet......lol
  4. I have twin 40's on a 4k and once i got them tuned and jetted properly it ran like a champ So a single 45 should be ok as long as you do the cam and extractors and possibly some headwork aswell should run sweet - Just remember to get it jetted properly or you'll have to clean your plugs just about everytime you drive it :lolcry:
  5. Thats what i thought might happen Was it hard to set up?
  6. I have a pair of twins already and wondering if it would be worthwhile putting them on a 4age for simplification of conversion (and i reckon it would sound pretty damn sweet too lol)
  7. Has anyone ever seen or heard of anyone converting a 4age to run twin carbs instead? Can it be done? How hard would it be? Cheers - Andrew :lolcry:
  8. Hey man that would be great ;) Unfortunatly i got outbid in the last 30 seconds.......damn ebay but i will still get one down the track Let me know how much you want for some mounts and when you get a chance to make some i'll sort you out :lolcry: Cheers - Andrew
  9. Hey olskool I found your conversion thread after talking to you on the blue mountains cruise - It's looking awesome man nice work And also after that day i've been inspired by your and cuzzo's cars so i'm going to go the 4age route with my car :) I may have to render your services (for a nominal fee of course) to make me up some engine mounts the same as yours I'm currently bidding on a smallport 100kw 4age so fingers crossed i'll have it soon Keep up the awesome fabrication work
  10. A cruise to palmy would be even better - Even more parking
  11. Awesome cruise and well done on a well organised cruise to all involved Soooo many nice cars.......Sooooo much inspiration........twin cam conversion in the future hmmmmm :)
  12. Definatly change the coil to high energy! When i first put my engine in it had electronic ignition without a high energy coil and it wasn't running to it's full potential I just put the new coil on, bypassed the resistor and changed the plugs to the kind without resistors and it runs even smoother now with a power increase aswell I also had a plug fouling problem and it definatly helped that too
  13. That is one sexy looking engine bay :lolcry:
  14. I like it cause it's different i've seen snipets of it on the site and i think it looks cool :lolcry: Can't say i've seen another one that looks similar and as far as i'm concerned, Originality is king (or queen in you case lol) Good job
  15. Hell yeah - rolla rolla rolla oi oi oi .......haha
  16. Thanks for the pics of the brakes I think i may do that upgrade to get them sitting properly Love the rims like that too - I'll polish mine up like that one day :lolcry:
  17. Thats all well and good cheif but i just spent $250 on these wheels that should fit and a further $270 on 2 new tyres for them so if i seem persistant about getting them on it's cause i'm in on them for $520 And they are also the exact wheels i wanted for the theme of my car So i'm pretty keen to get them working To everyone else thanks for your help. I've got them on now after minimal grinding but in the near future i think i will upgrade the callipers to something that will fit better Cheers - Andrew
  18. I like your wheels too i may polish mine up like that one day but they'll stay as they are for now And Taz, i like what you've done with the tacho nice work :lolcry: I'm going to re-mount mine in the centre panel of my dash after i get it re-skinned
  19. Sounds awesome - cheers :lolcry:
  20. Same size as mine must just be my dodgy standard brake setup being the problem oh well i fixed it this afternoon anyway :lolcry:
  21. They are the same rims that i had problems with the calliper on. Just make sure they spin after you do up the nuts on the front. You may have to do some grindage too
  22. I took a couple of pics of the new wheels and one of my new tacho which didn't turn out too well but hey what do ya do Enjoy
  23. I'll take some pics tomorrow but on second inspection i think i will be ok. The steel i ground off couldn't have been structural and i didn't weaken or thin out any parts where the steel changes direction i've driven it now without any weird noises or noticable brake fade so i don't know
