Bit backwards there Ev. The resistor lowers the voltage (to about 8v) to the coil so your points don't arc and die. When starting the resistor is bypassed allowing a full 12v to the coil to aid starting. No resistor required as the pickup in the electric dizzy's can cope with 12v all the time. Alec, Great project man, good to see it all documented. Keep it up!

Yep! Took it to SA chassis services this morn. Looking at 1-3 days without the car. Min $500- Max $1000...... ...Booked in for next week.

The wheel is fine, bit of rash but hopefully not buckled. Now heading to Light Wheel alignment specialists in the city. Apparantly really good. That and SA chassis charge like a wounded bull.

Wtf happened to the carb? can't get a metal flange, bolt it to the carb, bolt it to the broken bit ant use something like Loctite Metal Mend? Could get it welded but unsure about warpage and stuff.

Its all good man. In no rush to get rid of it.
