i was supplied bosch glowplugs in my diesel when i got it rebuilt, and after 10k one stopped working and when i pulled it out the tip of the plug had nearly fallen off, ifit had of fallen off my $6000 rebuildwould have been for nuffink and my piston would have smashed thebroken plugin to the head leaving me with a new head to buy and a new piston at least and since i had it unsleeved myblock could have been stuffed in short I WILL NEVER GET BOSCH ANYTHING AGAIN....

its a Y series petrol engine, with a blowen sump and head gaskets, stick with the k engine these have to many bugs in them and are a low reving engine, and they quite big for what they are, the only good side is EFI is still easily available but if you rev on of these above 4k rpm the head gasket gives in, it 2.2ltr diesel gives 49kw at the fly whell so i dun think it s diesel LOL to get 84kw from a 2.2 would take to much work......

i wonder if he will sell the rims by them selves? :(

-
value for money get a hilux.... for some fun get a sierra.... and for some thing thats better to drive get a crusier, just depends on what you want it for...
-
any 4wd that is constant 4wd must have a diff locker except for mitsu's they have electronic traction control,
-
hello all, this is a badge on my ke20 rolla, does every ke20 have this? what does it mean I think it has AMI writen on it..
-
Ok here we go... I am currently building a 84 hilux for rock crawling. the following all depends on what you want to do with the truck. please keep in mind 4wding completly different to anyother type of driving just about everything is backwards the lower the gearbox gears the better solid (beam) axle is better the IDS ABS is dangerous Diesel is best for many reason's ,engine braking, low reving, low fuel useage and heaps more. the less electronics the better. the list can keep going bigger is not always better Sierra's are the best suziki's off road... more mod's available and there a dime a dozen, the new sierra is a jimny... they only down fall to the sierra and the jimny are the diesel motor is not available in Aust. do not buy a jimny made before 2000or the softtop they have an old engine in them. don't pay anything more the 5k for a sierra my 2000 model jimny is for sale I want $13000 for it but anybody from the rolla club can have it for $11500. do not buy a surf they are NOT the same as a 4runner EVERY thing is just about different. It would be easier to list what is the same then different. Hilux's/4runners are the best all round 4wd, theres heaps of them around, I would say the models with the 2.4D (2L) engine are the best but they are getting old now, Do NOT buy one with the V8 conversion done as the chasis WILL be bent (the engine is to heavy) and for the least amount of money you can have a great 4wd.. the basic setup is two inch lift kit with tough Dog shocks and old man emu spring and a set of BFG A/T tyres the size to buy is 15X10.50. these mods will cost less the 5k. don't pay any more then $10k for a 2.8 hilux/4runner but must have less the 200000km on the clock 60 and 80 series landcrusier are proberly the best of road but the cost an arm and a leg to fix, you will not get change from 10k for engine rebuild and not much change from 3k for gearbox rebuild. any 60 series is good but only buy an early model 80 series with beam axle, 60 series $8000 max 80 series $14000 max I have seen to many fancy 4wd broken down , I refuse to comment on anything Mitsu. if you have any further questions just ask me... regards dysolve

it is only illegal to have a welded diff not a diff locker... well as far as i know i passed rego with mine... and why would they sell difflockers if they where illegal? the best one that i know for is the detroit locker very simple but very strong its only down fall is the "clunk" noise when it ingauges. can be know to do it a few times in a small corner... does any body know the real reason why race cars have lockers?
-
with diff lock's i can nearly drive up walls but my truck tried to fall back over its self next time we go away on a trip i will take movies of the differance between open and locked diffs
-
Why are opens hard to drift? they are the easiest but it does not look like you are drifting because only one wheel spins....
-
OK, I am getting sick and tired of people talking up welding there diffs and so on so heres a simple explaination for you all, there are there MAJOR types of diff setup, open limited Slip (LSD) Locked. OPEN: simply where its easier to turn the wheels the power will go. E.G you are turning a corner and the outside wheel starts to spin, all of the power will go to that wheel, so your car will slow down as you have NO power to te ground. LSD: A limited slip diff will try to distro the power evenly between both wheels, E.G you are turning a corner and the outside wheel starts to spin, The diff will try to send more power to the inside wheel but no where near 100%, in pratice its only about 30 to 40%, The reason its only 40% is because any thing higher then this and the car gets hard to stearso your car will slow down as you have little power to te ground. The major down fall to these diff's is they only last for around 50000km, and then they just become an open centre diff. Locked: OK there are hundreds of different ways to lock a diff all the way from weld through to AIR. ALL a locked diff will do is make both wheels travel the same distance and with the same power. Depending on you situation and car type depends on which locker you would use. now everybody read the next bit carefully as this will explain one thing...... E.G you are turning a corner both wheel will get the same power but the both MUST also travel the same distance which means you will still lose traction but the wheel to spin is more likely to be the inside wheel. You will get what i call DIFF WINDUP which will make the wheel spin. I will tell you a little story now. I drive an 1984 4WD hilux this is a part time 4WD so I run a Detriot locker in the front diff and an Airlocker in the rear, the reasons behind this are I CAN NOT turn with the rear diff locked let alone both so I can switch the rear diff from locked to unlocked with a switch on the dash and the front diff only locks when i have the front hubs locked, as my car runs a transfer case, once i lock my front hubs and change to 4WD my front and rear wheel MUST travel the same distance.. If any body has any further questions just ask... do you want to know what this all explains?? well ANY car can drift, but ones that are high powered with a locked diff will always look the best, I will be impressed when some body drifts an all wheel drive car with all THREE diffs locked.....
