it has not been driven since this happened, I am replacing the seal in the power steer unit and the resevour as well as the two rubber hoses going to it as well as the drive belt I will get her to drive it again and keep an eye out for the alt light, The car was overheating also and when i read my workshop manual the second thing to check on charging problems and overheating issues is the drive belt this leads me to think that maybe the belt has been sliping due to all the power steer fluid every where, i have taken all the earths off the block and body and cleaned them with sand paper (and then put them back LOL) as well as that i cleaned both terminals on the battery at idle the charge is around 14.3v and then at 2000rpm and above it sticks at 14.78v so I think the alt is fine, I will see how the problem with the power steering goes and see if that fixes it..

tells buy a cheap all banger of a rolla and fully pimp it.... but make it look really cheap LOL... that will at least impress the commonwhore fans... LOL

My wife now tells me the altenator light has been coming on for a while now but then it will turn off again, I am starting to think a bad conection, I also found her power steering pump was leaking like a .......... and the fluid is all over the motor maybe I will just fix the pump, clean the engine bay and replace the belt on the front of the motor ( it has power steering fluid all over it) it could have just been slipping and I know if your altenator in a dunnydore stops charging the car will turn off...

i stuck my meter on the battery this morning and it read 11.80v then i started the car a nd it was running fine, i then checked the meter again and it was reading 14.8v at idle I ran the car for 10 or so min's and turned it off and rechecked the battery and it read 12.4v any ideas??

I only have 12" rims and I would like to get some 13" so tyres don't cost 80 bucks each, I would buy all of trendys wheels off him if I could get some rims...

Hi all, Wondering if you can help my wife, she is the proud owner of an old VP 3.8L wagon, and tonight driving home all of the electricals failed, starting with the dash dimming out, headlights dying and dash gauges reading lower than they should, then the car sputtered for a second and died. The car starts but stalls shortly afterwards. Any suggestions?? Thanks,

the results are in i came 12th i did not go as well as i thought but still not bad for the second smallest engine in the group. Once i replace the shockies and stiffen up the springs it should be good, can't wait for june..

i ran 30th of 40 last time I will not get the full results for this run until next month.. but all i know is a was 4th fastest on one of the tracks.. and i was racing three RX7's (all turbo) an mr2(supercharged & intercooled) one rx2(turbo) three of four MG B V8's a 200sx, JL GTR Torry,a heap of other MG's and MX5's it was a great day,

i am going to be putting a 1G-GTTE in to the 20 later on so I will have to do heaps of work to the suspension, and at the moment i just race the car in khanas and I just want a cheap and nasty fix to last a few months i don't want to spend money now just to rip it all out again in two or three months time,if I do not want to do the suspension change for the 1G now as I have no idea what to do untill the new engine is in the car. Anybody have any idea how much cheap shockies cost for a 20?

HI all Last weekend while racing my ke20 in a motorkhana i found my bottom door sil's nearly touching the ground because my 20 now has more suspension travel then my hilux, does any body know a cheats why of stiffing up the rear/front suspension? The things like a boat, and after my heater box blew up the car was full of lovely green water so I thought I was in one of sydney's sharkcats... LOL thanks David.

i am into motorkhana's and khanacross and soon to enter some hill climbs, which will lead up to my entry in to rally, but that sad news is I will have to lose the rolla for the rallying, as I want a wrong wheel drive car and I want a 1.3ltr engine.. so i choose to buy a suziki GTI swift.. but i will hand on to the rolla for the khana's and hill climbs.. wrong wheel drive is no fun when all you want is noise and smoke.....

People's whats happening? I was the only rolla at the khana last week end..... where was everbody?? i completly killed my suspension and blow out my heatbox.. I could not figure out why I had gren water all over the floor of the "20" but i took my mate and I less then 15 mins to rip all the hoses off the heater box the run the hoses from the back of the block to the front LOL... remember people its a standard 3k and 4 speed with a stuck carby and nearly no interor, the only real mod i have do is put that battery in the boot and a key switch between the front to seats, after last week end theres not even the heater left in the car.. some photos below, this is all one corner..

i am about to build my dream car.. ke20 2 door sedan with 1g-gtte running standard brakes and 12" 155 retreads... now that will be a fun car to drive.....

Ok here goes my little rant, I voted yes to this poll but only if every body has to get a "special" licence, remember this "What you are driving does not cause the accendent, the driver does" WHAT IS A 4WD? is a WRX or a EVO a 4wd? This topic pisses me off more then anything, I have been driving for 12 years now and I have had three crashes one speeding ticket and one parking ticket, I passed my driving test first time with out losing a point and I only had two driving lessons before attempting the test, I think it is far to easy in general to get your licence, I think they should make the whole system like motor bikes, you can only drive a certin car based on your driving experance, and there should by zero tolarance for everything when you are on your restricted licence. No speeding, no drinking, and you must conform to all road rules no matter what, if you get busted doing something wrong you lose you licence for at least six months and you have to resit driving test all over again. I believe any body who loses there drivers licence should have to resit there test, and people should be randomly chosen to resit there driving test even if they have done nothing wrong. Another thing that does piss me of is the fact that I can get done drink driving tonight lose my licence and be given a restircted licence to get to and from work.. THAT IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT.. drink driving makes me a criminal and I should be treated like one. I should just f@$kING lose my licence for a at least year and have to resit the test again.. all of my family own 4wd's and we use them as 4WD, ( I only use my hilux when I am going offroad) I am getting sick and tired of being told my diesel hilux is a fuel guzzler and kills the environment does not deserve to be on the road. But you tell me how many petrol cars get 600km for 39ltr's of fuel. diesel's exhust fumes are still toxic but only 20% as bad as petrol, My family diesels get serviced every 2500km and everything gets replaced/renewed. you tell me what petrol car driver does that sorry to all but anybody who thinks all 4wd emissons are worse then cars should read up on diesel engines and how they work and there emissions. you will be very surprised.

ok thanks for the info, is it possible to put a whole ke70 rear end ( wheel to wheel ) in to a ke20? I can buy a whole ke70 for $100 but i like my little ke20 so i would like to keep that and use the ke70 for parts. thanks again

HI all, I am tring to get some 13" or 14" second hand rims for my ke20 but i am having some problems, all the ones i find do not fit on.. I have two question first is what stud pattern does a ke20 have i know its 4 stud but whats the spacing? second is how hard would it be to change my stud pattern to a ke70 setup? I get get 14" wheels and tyres for $20 each with ok rubber for that size so would it be worth doing this conversion

my hilux is called bigbird... It's big and yellow the ke20 is called the goose egg, it was called that when i bought it but it has a black vinyl roof and it white every where else the wifes VP commodore wagon is called the Dunnydore or the commonwhore. the suziki is call Suzi my mothers magna is called bitzrmissen. brother mini is called pink bits cause its pink LOL my step fathers audi is called aldi... cause its cheap.. LOL my work has an old holden barina well its a suziki swift/cino but we call it the bitch.. cause it sucks my mate had an off white coloured gemi and we called it cum stain... its really funny my family names there cars before they buy them. i think my mother buys cars because they can have kewl names LOL.. one of my mates wants to buy any twin turbo car just so he can call it "spooler"

Hi, I have a some questions about a 4a supercharger I have been offered one for $200 and i want to fit it to a 1978 dual carby celica, I have never fitted a supercharger before but I have done a turbo or two. Q1. Do oil or water lines have to be run to the 4a supercharger? ( I Have seen some easton chargers before and all you have to do is attached the charger to aircon bracket and run a pipe from the underside of the charger to the carby and another to a filter, is this the same with the 4a type) Q2 I want to keep the dual carby setup, has this been done before? (sound different so why not do it.) Q3 what RPM do the 4a chargers run at? I know this would be directly related to engine RPM. thanks in advance.

I have lived in canberra since 1989 and I have never been to the nats... I use to just sit on the road and watch the old supercrusier down the main drag of canberra, sort of sucks how they stopped that, but i suppose they had to as the last time they did it the place was trashed.. btw that orange datta was not finished let alone fired up untill the wednesday before the nats, they had a photo shoot on the monday and while they where pulling the car back apart they damaged two panels and had to send them from canberra to melbourne to get painted..They finally got it all together and started on the wednesday night....
