Check your points, I had my car do the same thing (4K though), the lobe work off the points and it wasn't opening the points when the dizzy cam came round to open them. if thats whats happened, make sure you grease the dizzy cam, helps prevent the points lobe from wearing down. Hope this is of some assistance.

I think you could have got a lot more for that gearbox, what was wrong with it? what gearbox do you intend on using?

AE101 would be front wheel drive, plus the fact they have a different stud pattern and would require a different offset tyre even if you did manage to modify them on. not worth the mucking around, sell the leftovers of the front cut..

also if someone crashes into you from behind it may take more of the force and save parts of the car..

Sometimes giving the car a good cut and polish can help when trying to match a panel to a fresh paint job, also you may have to respray whole panels to make it look not so out of place..
