I see what your getting at with if ae71 vans had the 86 springs, I assume ae71 panos sit similar height to Ke70. I couldn't imagine the 4k and 4ac would be much different weight
-
Hi all. Have been trying to find this information myself, been looking through faq and other places. I am putting AE86 front struts and some other 86 suspension gear into the front of my KE70 Pano. The only thing I need to get now is springs, I want to keep it Stock height, it sounds strange but the stock height suits me perfect for what I use it for. I can't find the stock front spring heights for both AE86 and KE70 to compare, they have a difference king spring part number so I can see the car will either be higher or lower so if anyone has the measurements that would be great.

Also note if you are doing BRIGHT red or yellow. Paints don't have lead in them anymore, so when I was spraying mine I had patches of filler underneath and we had done 2 full coats and I could still see the colour of the filler underneath, don't ask how many coats of paint I used.

went to the wacol wreckes today in search for the AE71 Pano to see if it was possbile to cut out the panels instead of having to get another pano shell. So I went into the back left corner and I couldn't find it anywhere. While I was there my girlfriend was with me and noticed some guys jumping the fence, I thought they must of worked there and thought nothing of it, and I'm too trusting. There was a team of guys and they were actually stealing stuff. She went and told the guy in the office and the workers there practically drifted out the car park to chase them, They caught 2 of them and as we left they were getting the cops involved, had stolen at least 15 radiators. gotcha loosers :P

oh well at least you got steering wobble to remind you to do the wheels up, I lowered a commodore with the tyre on but no wheel nuts on, while I was half way under the car, lets just say I was really lucky, especially being a heavy commodore. Car looks sick. :rocknroll:

as everyone will tell you, do some searching and there is shitloads of information. If you look in the for sale section of either here or ae86dc they sell crossmembers that bolt straight up with standard mounts. As for gearboxes you can use standard silvia ones but I don't think they line up too well with the gearbox tunnel hole. The rb motor gearboxs from the skylines line up better from what I have herd I think, and I think they bolt up much the same to the sr20. SR20's are everywhere and in everything modified so your not short of information or someone who knows someone.

ok thanks trev much appreciated

cheers trev, also trying to understand the seal giving way, so if it was under vaccume all the time then when I gave it a big breathing hole did it show the true condition of the front main seal? because the seals wernt held in place with as much vaccume pressure.

hi all, So I have had the most annoying noise coming from my car latly, originally thought it was the water pump bearing but I was wrong. I am getting some sort of negative pressure in my pcv system, i think it's negative is negative normal? Anyway I pull the dipstick while the car is running and whooosshhh, it sucks air from the dipstick and the sound goes away. So i gather the sound is from air being sucked in through seals. I have a smallport 4age with a cut n shut inlet and this could be where the problem lies, but I've been using the car for a year and a half till now and now the sound starts. Bigger issue now, So I figure if its sucking air from the dipstick then something in the pcv system is not working properly, I have a catch can setup and I thought I would unscrew the big bolt on top of the catch can while the car was running, and whooosshhh again sucking air so I leave the car on for about 15 seconds like that, idle raised a little but then I noticed a puddle of oil leak from the front main seal, put the bolt back on and babied the car home. I have no idea what this means any help is much appreciated.

looking good, jealous of the panels :y:

nothing a bit of duct tape and cable ties can't fix :P

hay bud so what did u do for ur stereo?, I have 6inches in the back panels and 2 x 6x9's in the holes behind the seat, u just have to make up a mdf thing to hold them there. I wasn't too happy with the sound coming from the holes behind the seat, u really need to fill the inside with rags or something to make the sound better, it doesn't help that it is inside metal instead of a timbre box.

hay mate, it's looking great with the panels in the back. keep up the good stuff

Trev your a toyopedia. Yah I gathered it was something like that, I didn't really give her a hard time was just stubborn, for that exact reason when I looked at the car it came out of at the wreckers the vin started with AE92. I ended up just saying yah it's a AE93 because I knew they would have the smallport 4age, just wasnt sure whether the AE93 was a 4agze because I thought some of those ae93's had gze's.
-
yah thanks I will, I always ended up having a fight with the chick that worked at burson when I said the 4age was from an ae92 she's like u mean ae93 right and I'm like no I don't it's from an ae92 and then she thinks I'm giving her a hard time coz she's a chick in a parts store which has nothing to do with it, ever since then I go to toyota with a helpfull old fella, genuine toyota is USUALLY better anyway.
-
thanks for the help guys, it's really anoying the pump can't be any more than 8 months old and genuine toyota no doubt it will be a P.I.T.A

Hay all, Recently I started getting a high pitch squeeling noise from the waterpump pulley, whenever I spin it manually it has a noise. So I was wondering is there any way to just replace a bearing or do I have to replace the whole pump, if I can just replace a bearing how much work is it, its a smallport 4age. thanks for the help

A Story On How Not To Modify Your New Car
the_van_can replied to redae71's topic in Automotive Discussion
16,000 for a new motor wow. Theres a bit of a conspiracy going on there ford not suppling rebuild specs, cars must be like TV's now designed to break, more specifically the motors. -
sorry to hijack but I noticed the front bar modifications you were talking about I've got a ke55 chrome front bar that has brackets twisted to bolt on to a ke70/ae71. willing to give it away for anyone in brisbane to clean up my shed, condition average.
