Wow shes looking a bit worse for wear. What a shame as they're such good looking cars. Resto?

Time for an update. Went to Harvey Wreckers in Baxter on Saturday. Had a bit of a parts shopping list, and out of the 5 or so KE30-55's there was nothing that I needed. I only ended up buying the KE55 trims for the rear quarter panels. Going to get these chromed when I get everything else re-done. I like these ones more than mine. Today I bought some Pedders Super Lows springs for the front. The standard springs had been chopped amazingly short. No wonder they popped out every time the car was jacked up. Take a look at the comparison....

Is it just me or was JiP just joking...? I believe he was poking fun at the moron in the picture. Just a thought...
-
That's what I was thinking also. I guess later corolla ones are the best bet?

My sincere apologies madam. Assumption it seems is a dangerous thing.

Hmm, actually I didn't consider that. Thank you sir, I'll look around for another one on Saturday.

Pics on photobucket HERE for anyone interested to see my baby stock as a rock. Thanks to ROLLLA for his effort.

I'm sure my fellow KE30 owners have noticed the slow slow wiper speeds on these cars. I have yet to drive in the rain in my 30, but I don't really look forward to it if there is more than a slight drizzle. My question: Is there anything that can be done about the slow speeds? Just a thought :laff:. Cheers Sian

I'm doing this same conversion but with a silvertop. Will need a 5 speed from ke70/ae71 (I think) $200? New diff probably (I'm spending about $900 I think) Everything else mentioned above, I haven't priced up this stuff yet. A 5k estimate may be a little steep. You'll also need the RWD cooling parts, you can talk to a guy called Sam_Q, he makes them custom, looks factory. I'm going to get him to make me all the necessary parts when the time comes. Hope this has helped. Cheers Sian

What a joke. We should be able to play our music as loud as we want, with an exhaust volume within reason, and beep whenever and at whoever we see fit.

Any idea if this is for Victoria to? Had a look around, couldn't really find what I was looking for on VicRoads. My KE30 is getting a 4AGE 20V anyway :laff:

:laff: Well done. Got a new square headlight KE55 grill today, as my old one quite wrecked from this smash Did a test fit, and couldn't get it in properly. So removed the bent bumper and tried again. Still no luck . Seems the crash in the front was worse than I first thought. I started to get really worried then, I thought the car may have been in a major smash, but I did check it out through VicRoads beforehand so that didn't seem likely. Seems the radiator support is a bit bent, front apron probably needs to be replaced, along with passenger side front guard. The white squares show where something is bent. So it continues... /end day

Yea looks like ill have to get out the drill to, and get new seals for everything I can think of. Thanks, more pics up soon, seems some things are bent.

Big rain storm last night. Opened up the boot today, presto, enough water to take a bath in :laff:. Probably about an inch of water on the passenger side in the boot pocket thing.
-
I'd like every pic of this car you have if that would be ok?

Headache? I haven't even started yet mate :laff:. This is what a love of cars is all about. Me, my brother and my dad are doing all the work, so saving a bit of money that way, and hey, it's fun. Cheers Sian

Sorry but I wouldn't call it a gem :laff: . A pitty that the car is no longer perfectly straight and rust free :(, but hopefully she shall be when I'm finished with her. The height is good but it's probably going to be put back to standard to pass RWC, then I'll lower it properly, reversing the leafs is a bit dodgy. I think the square headlights make the car look tough, I'd say its one of the cars best features. Getting a new grille today as the old one was a bit smashed up. I'd be interested to see any other pictures that you have, would be very grateful if you could email me anything you have. Cheers mate, Sian

I'm with three, they're pretty terrible. I wouldn't recommend going with three.

Haha, yes it was indeed a death trap. The guy we bought it off said he drove it daily, if he did then I'm amazed he survived. Thinking about the seats now, trying to work out how to legally install them. If i was to weld those metal plates to the rails, would that be enough do you think? I don't have anything to say about the spacers . Thats a relief, I guess I'll just have to seal the thing up as best I can.
-
Haha sounds great  I'm not sure if it has had a dash conversion, but I know it had a number of later parts fitted to it, so I wouldn't be surprised if it had been done at the same time. It definitely has the late dash in it now. EDIT: Have you had any problems with water leaks into boot + subbies? Doesn't sound like a great mix.
-
Hmm interesting...why does the boot fill up with water? It was only a temp fix until I get the bumper rubbers. Cheers Sian

Got time off from school to study now so I'm pretty bored. It's a choice between study or car...guess which one wins... First up was the Pitman and Idler arms. Went in without a hassle and made quite a bit of difference to the feel of the car. Next we opened up the boot to locate a very annoying noise. Didn't fix the noise but found some other interesting things. This is after i cleaned it out, found a layer of mud and water at the bottom. Patched up the holes with some gasket maker stuff. . Original toolkit All the shit in the boot out My fuel tank cover and spare wheel cover were both pretty ratty so I decided to remake those. Bought some 6mm MDF for $4 and got my dad to draw a template and cut them out. My brother did the spray painting, they look much better. Fuel tank cover needs a coat of black and a coat of clear then shes done. Will only put links for pics as this thread is getting too big. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w240/re...ar/IMG_0735.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w240/re...ar/IMG_0736.jpg Decided to pull the head unit out to fix a wiring issue. Got the trim out and found a lot of half assed wiring. Twist and tape jobs everywhere, and some pretty lazy soldering jobs. Pissed it all off, going to start clean with the head unit wiring another day. Was just looking around the dash and happened to notice this. Cracked boss kit, definitely not a good thing. Threw the standard wheel back on, and now I have a horn so that's a bonus. I also put the KE55 combination switch on while i was there, now to find a way to get the intermittent setting to work. Also took the time to remove all the stereo wiring running through the car, ending up with a surprising amount. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w240/re...ar/IMG_0727.jpg Lots of other random pics on my photobucket http://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w240/re...%20Car/?start=0
