Ke70 (and Other Low Power Cars) Drifting
seabiscuit replied to ket000's topic in Automotive Discussion
I drift on the streets but only when it's fairly wet, otherwise my tyres AND car start wearing out. How do you drift on dry road with a 4k?! I'm stumped. It's probably just my car/engine, which has no power  (Weber soon fixes that) -
Isn't that what corolla's are built for? (see signature)
-
I get this problem also. It only happens when I've either driven car on highway for a while (like you), gave it a thrashing, such as drifting and also, when it's very very cold. Let us know how you go with the carby overhaul. A weber should soon be fixing my problems of slow aisin carbyness :jamie: Vinnie

How come you're selling the superlites? Do you have plans for other wheels? Mesh it up :D Cool car :) I have one too, but it's a stocko job. You definitely need low king springs. Would make it look 1000x tougher (like that photoshop).
-
Cool car, but you have KE36 bumpers  Can't you mount the coil pack somewhere else or make it look flash? It sticks out :hmm: Vinnie

Also looking for a front bumper bar (edited in last post) for KE30/36.

Free Summernats Entry (summernats 22) - Trendact?
seabiscuit replied to seabiscuit's topic in ACT / Canberra
Argh, I wish I went... I had forgotten to get work off that day and didn't end up going! Next year we should make an effort to get some Rolla's there. Get them CTC members back here where they belong. -
Thought I'd try kick the Canberra RollaClub section in the guts and perhaps get it "going" again. :hmm: Started this thread ALSO, for us to discuss parts for our Corolla's, which we may need, are selling or need to know info about, for us Canberrans. Feel free to talk about your needs and hopefully some of us can help you out. So here goes: I've got my KE36 sitting in my front yard spare-part-less and am looking for - in particular - rear tail lights, a rear tailgate and front and rear bumper, all in decent'ish condition. I will be interested in other parts, which are not stated here, but suit KE36's. Let me know if you have anything via PM and I will get back to you asap. Lets get the Canberra Club back up and "Rollin" guys

Looks good. I like the square headlights, but they just don't work for me on the square bonnet. Can't wait for them pics of the updated interior :hmm: Good luck
-
Gee.. No rust, original books, 72 thousand ORIGINAL km's, overrated interior (not incl. dash pad and drivers seat) and drives like new. This is a diamond in the dirt, ROLLLA. I'd either keep it and take really (REALLY) good care of it to keep its value, or clean it up to original spec and sell it for $3,000+

4k Not Running Right After Mechanic Does A Service On It
seabiscuit replied to trav_555's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Valve bouncing is when you are reving the $%#T out of the car and it doesn't fire properly, I believe. Yea, I have this problem occasionally and people laugh because they think I stall :(. If he was playing around with that "vacuum" leak, which was most-likely to do with the carby, something may have gotten in there, like a bit of dirt and is blocking something. What this guy did from NRMA to try and backfire the "shit" out of my carby when I called them up about this problem, was cross over TWO of the spark plug leads and then started the car. He revved it to about 3-4k let it die down to almost a stall and then put his foot flat to the floor until it backfired. This backfires the system and supposedly gets some of the shit and corruption out of the carby, which could be causing a blockage. My carby has a vacuum problem and only 1 of the jets works. I'll hopefully be getting a Weber soon though :hmm: Just get the mechanic to fix it until it's right, so you don't have to piss around with it anyway  Afterall, he farked it up! EDIT: MAKE SURE YOU DO WHAT OniBerserker SAYS! -
Hey Original, While I was looking around for Datsun 240z Dashes (I think one would look bloody awesome in a Rolla), I came across this forum, which is about doing a DIY dashboard restoration. It has a really detailed post on how this guy did his. He says it is almost the exact same method that the dashboard restorers like Dashboard Doctor and Dashboard Restoration use. All up It was around $100 and looks absolutely stunning. Here's the link: DIY Dashboard Restorations Enjoy! Vinnie

Expensive/rare aren't they?

Has the engine bay been painted yet?! Paint makes a car look 10,000x better :y: Them hotwire rims look cool on the old Rolla's. I have a set on my 36, which are now on my daily 70. :no2: Good luck with the remainder of your project! Vinnie

Will this bolt straight up to my KE70? It has a stock 4k and 4-speed :y:

As the title suggests, "is there such a thing as a T55 gearbox?" The eBay page which has it for auction states that it has a stronger output shaft than the T50 box. For those interested, here is the link to the eBay page: Corolla Rear Wheel Drive T55 Gearbox I had a quick RollaClub and Google search and it didn't come up with anything, so I really think this guy is leading us on a bit. I could be wrong.

Time and money is well spent is on an engine conversion  (one that involves lots of work, not just a bolt-on) It'd be a great experience for anyone who loves their cars and wants to learn more about them. The body, interior, sound system etc. is basically done on your car, Murd, so I rekon this is the only thing left to do. :) Make a poll to see who agrees! You might as well make the only option in it "yes" :P Vinnie

lol, so many comments about the bodykit not looking good BEFORE the rims. Now the car looks insane hot! :P Bianca says she is going to swap her 55 for my 36... didnt you, Bianca? :D Keep up the pics. Please don't molest the insides of your car with LED's and brittle plasticy hektyk spec addons that actually make your car look trashy and more stealable. OLDSKOOL IS COOL! spend money on better stuff like alarms, keyless entry etc. the REAL impressive stuff :jamie: EDIT: I forgot about the whole "its my car, I do what I want".. you got me :P

Wheels To Suit Ke30 With Coilovers
seabiscuit replied to kangaroosa's topic in Automotive Discussion
I thought that engineering was to certify that your modified car was safe... If they fit perfect and do not cause any "problems", then they should be engineerable, right? I'm guessing that the laws of the no bigger/smaller than 15mm from stock rims only apply to unmodified/unengineered cars. Do not quote me on this, but isn't that the role of engineering: to ensure that a non-standard modification is safe. Vinnie -
Nice 2 door mate. I'm curious as to how much you paid for yours as I'm thinking of offering this guy down the road some money for his, which is in almost the same condition (except the motor is buggered haha). I've read they are rare as rocking horse shit, I love the look of them (and all Rolla's) anyway and would love to add one of these to my collection. Good luck with yours. You should paint it :P

Ke36 Sans 3k By Septembersquallindustries
seabiscuit replied to SeptemberSquall's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Hey, Squall... I really like the twin headlight setup you have going. I have a KE36 myself and would consider doing this modification. Just a few questions about it... 1. Did you have to modify/fabricate any type of mounts for them? 2. Are there any surrounds for them as it looks a little dodgy as you can see "through" them? 3. Are there any grilles that fit this modification (that you've found)? Car looks really great BTW! I love the stance :jamie: -
Hey, Brock. How much did the Nolathane treatment set you back? I'm interested in making my KE70 a little tighter around corners to keep my speed up as it takes a while to gain speed in the ole 4k! Also, what would be a decent street/daily setup for sway bars and how much it might cost. I might look into lowered King Springs also, my mate has them in his sigma and it handles like a go kart.
-
I've heard that they actually have rubbish lying around in the streets in Queensland.. Who'da thunk! :) Sad that no one talks on the Canberra page :(
-
Nice KE70, mate! Paint is very unique, but I like it. Shiiiiny black paint with those rims would look haawwt! Complete dragmobile. Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha :jamie: So true :bash:

Wow! That GT Coupe is a stunning car. I'd have to say one of the best-looking Corolla's of all time. I bet that care has made many-a-mechaphile's :jamie: Well done on your hard work
