I have a similar story with a KE20 my brother in law bought.
Not running so towed it back here.
Check for spark, none apparent by use of screwdriver touching lead - check wiring is correct and firing order correct by referencing to my KE11. Everything seemed to be in order however still no spark.
I inspected the points, they looked a little worn, gapped them properly as they were closed at all times, still no spark.
I had a spare set of points, took less than a minute to replace, cranked over with screwdriver in hand (except forgot to use an insulated one) and sparked hard and went straight up my arm!!! Mental note to use rubber handled screwdriver next time.
I plugged lead back in, threw some petrol down the carby and boom started first pop!! Not bad for an engine which apparently hadn't run for 6 months.
