  1. Hi all, here is my ke55 with 17inch mags with 205/40 tyres. I went around to a few wreckers as I was originally going for 15inch mags but couldn't find any. :D So I got some new 17inches as there wasn't much choice, anyway I reckon they suit the car very well. :D I have also lowered it and put on a 32/36 downdraught weber for a little more pickup. I still need to find a straight drivers side front guard, PBR brake booster and cut a little rust out here and there. Anyway I'll sort it out eventually and it will end up as a neat daily. :abuse: :D I am also going to tint the windows. Here is a couple of pics. :abuse:
  2. Yeah that's josho's old car. :|
  3. I run a worked 5k motor in my ke20 and that sits about half way on the temp guage. I am also running a davies craig thermo fan, but mounted on the inside of the radiator, and I have the original fan shroud attached and lower stone tray aswell, which helps direct the airflow to the motor. I run my thermo through a toggle switch, and I only turn it on when driving slowly or stopped at traffic lights. On the open road you don't need it. When it's on, the temp drops quite a bit under the halfway line. Check your thermostat and waterpump and are you running any coolant? Also is it using any water, as you may have a headgasket gone. Cheers, Mark. :hmm:
  4. Well it's been a while, but it's now registered and I'm driving it around. I put in a c.d player and a couple of speakers on the rear parcel shelf aswell. It's also got a straight front bumper. :y: :D I have also replaced the brake pads, shoes, flexible lines, rear wheel cylinders and machined the rotors, I also put in new nolathane front swaybar bushes. The next things on the list are to get some rust cut out of it and straighten the drivers front guard, then find some 14 or 15inch mags to go on it. :( Cheers, Mark. :P
  5. A very nice example of an original ke20, I also love the 70's orange colour :P This model is a ke20 2 door sedan assembled by AMI Australia. :P I own 2 ke20's and I just love the look of them. Do you have any pics of the interior and engine bay. :P Cheers, Mark. :bash:
  6. Hi guys, I rang a local wheel place and they said that 1990 lancer wheels will fit as well as lasers, excel's and r31 skyline's. So I guess I will have a look around.
  7. Thanks guy's for all your help, what size are the supra mags? as I would like to go about 14 or 15 inch, with a low profile tyre. Something that also looks sporty. Thanks, Mark. :lolcry:
  8. G'day all, I own a 1980 ke55 square headlight model, and I want to put some mags on it. So I would like to know which mags will bolt straight on without any modifications or interfearence to the suspension. I was thinking about early supra mags, something that looks tough. Any help or pics would be appreciated. Cheers, Mark. :lolcry: :lolcry:
  9. The exhaust and inlet manifold are two seperate parts. :P The carby stay's bolted to the inlet manifold.
  10. The valve clearances (HOT) are Inlet: 0.20mm Exhaust: 0.25mm Cheers, Mark. :P
  11. I've got a 5k motor in my ke20, which used to be originally a 3k, and it bolts straight in.
  12. Here's a pic of a early ke20 that I had bought for spares. :y: Anyone got any more???????????? Keen to see more rusty rolla's.
  13. My brother went to Deloraine this morning to check out the ke20. All I can say is that, it's NOT WORTH $2500. It isn't even registered. It's an early ke20 in original condition, but the rear seat is all torn along the top, the left hand tailight lense is cracked, AMI badge missing from passenger guard, non original chrome sill panel strips have been fitted (covers the width of the sill, probably hiding rust) :jamie: Oh and the drivers door has been opened to far and crushed the guard. This is the same car that I had a look at for sale in Invermay about 3 weeks ago and the guy wanted a lot less then the $2500 asking price. Someone's probably bought it when it was cheaper, thinking to make a huge profit out of it :y: It has a non original 4K motor and it also has a towbar, which suggests that the driveline maybe stuffed if it's been towing heavy loads on a 4K 1300cc motor. :hmm: All I can say, for $2500, I would want it to be in overrated condition and have rego. Here's some pics I took of her :y: I have a mobile number for it, if anyone's keen. :y:
  14. Yeah your on the money Si. :jamie: You can get a plastic plug that fits in the hole still available from Toyota. :hmm:
  15. My brother bought a set of the Kinchrome brand when he used to work at Burson Auto Parts. The set with the non bendy end. They are an excellent idea, much quicker then standard ring spanners, as you don't have to keep on taking the spanner off to tighten or loosen a nut. Saves a lot of time :) :D The only downside I can fault is that the diameter around the ring/ratchet end is slightly bigger then just a standard ring spanner, so if you've got a nut in a tight corner, then sometimes the ratchet won't fit, where as a standard one would. :jamie: Other then that I love them.
  16. I just love looking at old rusty cars, there's just something about them. :) please I want to see more. :D
  17. I took the wiper switch out of my ke11 the other day. All you need to do is get a pair of long nose pliers and put into the two small holes on the chrome ring and unwind it like a nut as that thing is on a thread and holds in the switch. :hmm: Or get a flat head screwdriver and hammer and gently tap it around (anticlockwise), and once youv'e loostened it you can unwind it with your fingers. :y: Simple as that. :hmm:
  18. That's where it goes, maybe it should have a rubber grommet in the chassis rail for the pipe to sit tight in the hole. :)
  19. What model wagon mate?? :yak:
  20. Yeah that went past my place last night about 6pm, I think there were two chicks in it and it was a p plater. :y:
  21. Last night I gave the ke55 a oil and filter change, wired up the reverse switch, fixed a couple of blown globes, adjusted the brake pedal play, and wired the selector plug into itself so that it starts now. :jamie: So this weekend I'll give her a good tune by cleaning the plugs, points and rotor and check the timing and mixture and grease the necessary parts etc. :| Progrees is going along smoothly now.
  22. lol :| My gearbox mount arrived today so tonight I bolted in the crossmember, filled it up with oil and put the tailishaft in :jamie: So all I have to do now is wire the selector switch into itself, as it thinks it's in gear and it doesn't start, and sort out a couple of very small things like replacing a indicator dash globe, give her a oil and filter change and maybe replace suspect rear wheel cylinders. Other then that, make sure everything is working for when I put it over the pits.
  23. Well my brother had today off work so he decided he needed something to do, so he made a couple of small metal plates to fill in the gap on each side of the gearlever where it enters through the floor. :P He also put the auto console back in. So all going well it should be a runner by the weekend.   I got the crossmembers welded together at work yesterday and I am just waiting for a new gearbox mount which should be here tomorrow. :y: Heres a pic of today's progress.
  24. I'm never been a fan of guard mounted mirrors. :y:
  25. The one in it is a speco and was about $70 from autobarn :y:
