see, I'm preparing my car for lemans :P well i called qld transport and spoke to an inspector, he said that yes you must have a bumper and if I'm to get it changed id have to get it engineered. the basic reasoning was if i smash into a dum arse pedestrian that steps out in front of me i can be sue'd because it may be deemed that their injuries are greater than what they would have been without a bumper i asked about just takin the middle out and he said the same thing, if i hit them with the bit with no bumper i may be liable. and coz its not a recognised modification on the insuramce they wont cover me sooo, I'm going with 160 mm clearance off the ground and that way one about 90 mm disappears behind the bumper and theres a large gap between bumper and intercooler wheras if it goes higher it sits against the thermofan and presses against the bumper. so i think ill get good flow over the whole thing at this level, and ive popped down the autobarn and bought that ricey mesh crap that goes inside front spoilers and ill just fit that over the cooler to protect it from rocks/birds/ufos/butterflys and pedestrians. ill just avoid high curbs but it sits about the same height if not higher than the stock metal trim thingy which ive gotten rid of and that had no damage sooo I'm thinking I'm safe from speed bumps etc so yeah, thats my story lol any thoughts?

hmm, i really would prefer to run aircon, and i know i can make it happen, i mean i can mount the air con radiator anywhere and just put a fan on it if the worst comes to the worst. gonna ring qld transport today and TRY get a definite answer on the bumper bar needs, don't like my chances tho

lol thats rite, thats why the thermo fan is on the outside of the radiator duno where the bloody air con radiator is gonna go lol

grrr thats what i thought it was! the one ive got is 790 or so end to end and wont bloody fit in between the headlights on the ke70 even the narrow end doesnt fit coz of the mounting points for the front grill :P

what size intercooler is that? end to end, and core if u don't mind cheers mate

likely it would explain weak brakes if u don't have the vaccuum pipe attached to the brake booster. i could take a picture on the 70, but people with a 30 would prob be more handy its just a thick vaccuum hose that goes from the intake area along the firewall to the brake booster

nick: don't know it top mount will fit, radiator only just doesnt touch bonnet and i don't think i have 100mm clearance between the bonnet and anything in the bay :y: corolla bitten, good drawing, makes sense :) i may look into the possibility of doing that rolla boy it wont be any uglier than the cage thats around the custom made sump irokin yeah ive got a wider radiator, the supra one, but the width issue is the intercooler hitting on things when u flip it over i have really stiff coilovers to, like sit on the bonnet and it don't bloody move kinda stiff :P i duno what brand or spring rate, but yeah adjustable coilovers with koni adjustable shocks i just paid 240 for this cooler, and i couldnt find them cheaper anywhere else, but then again it is a 600*300*100 core so its gonna cost a bit lol might go have another play if i can move my fat ass...so so tired lol

my cars name beats all: delores oh yeah lol i named her this one afternoon when i came home from work back when i was rebuilding the rust and getting her running, and realised theres always something wrong, and shes really dam ugly and really dam slow. just like delores at work

:P that diagram would be the one, id recomend pulling it off, scanning it and printing out a blown up version you can draw on. and it also means you still have the thing, coz not many cars ahve them anymore

i remember when i got my paint matched to do the respray (so should have got a different colour but owell) the code is paint/trim and theres 3 two letter parts to it, and one of those is the paint, can't remember which but if you took it to autobarn etc they would be able to tell you

hmm artistic abilities fail me but yeah, what I'm thinkin is basically across between the peice of metal that sits along the front when theres no bumper and the bar on that sr 70 up there^^ basically with the smaller bar, and then keep the bottom peice like the peice of metal, but without the bar down the middle of the cooler and mesh the hole for the cooler + smooth it all up a bit hmm i need to know what i can and can't do..

hmm, i like cops, they taste just like chicken :P and theyre only gonna see it from the other direction but yeah i know what ur saying, its not safe and its alota money to hang off the front of my car with no regard, I'm gonna try keep it where it is in my more recent pics, and i can pipe it in under the headlights where the horns (i think thats what they are) are, and just relocate the horns, and then try and find a different bar to mod and make fit, i need to find out what requirments there are for my bar, would be cool if i could make something up similar to what is there without the bumper, just strenghten it up a bit and put a bumper on it, a very small bumper i might go try and make a chop i have an idea

lol i have the diagram if u want to do it proper but mines for a ke70, and different to the ke70 vac diagram that teddy put up here one time

thanks for the pic clown that would work very well, i don't spose you know whether that is a complete custom made, or just a modded bar off somethin else? irokin, width is an issue when flipped upside down, ill have a play with it again and see if anythin works the other way over but i doubt it will... 150mm clearance, i think in thew first pic i had around 160?? is that too low? cheers guys :P
