anastasios Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 hey guys i was wondering if anyone has sourced braided brake lines for their 55 before, as I'm looking to upgrade the fronts while everything is out Quote
love ke70 Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 you just go to a brake shop with your existing line and ask for the same (ie connections etc) in braided coz your a rice boy ;) Quote
doityourself Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 Hey braided lines are not just rice items, they do actually work, especially if you have to stomp the brakes. I am sure that somewhere like Pirtek can help you out there. Just show them the fittings at either end and tell them how long you want the lines to be and they will make them up for you. Quote
Raven Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 Yeah wtf? Rice? Me thinks love_ke70 is on some serious drugs. If they improve the performance of your braking, then thats a positive, not a negative dude. I'd love to have more responsive brakes just by changing from standard to braided lines. Quote
love ke70 Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 id like to see some quantitative proof of the improvement in braking abilities... there are many much more worthwhile upgrades you could do to your braking system, rather than get some bling-ing brake lines made up. waste of money imo. Jono Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 is that white or brown rice? or shiny rice? i will probably swap to braided once my lines wear out. http://www.cebcobrakes.com.au/html/s02_art...p;nav_top_id=61 Quote
JiP Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Can the normal metal brake lines be swapped over?? Or is it just the rubber ones?? Quote

The lines don't expand when pedal pressure is applied therefore a better feel of the braking system. True you could upgrade your rotors or pads but for a better feel on standard brakes, braided lines are the way to go. Quote

love ke70 Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 jon, you could run the whole lot in braided...but why the f@$k would you bother? lol raven, i understand what your saying, but fresh rubber ones will have shit all give in them anyway. 30 year old rubbers...well theyre gonna be as old as 30 year old whores arnt they... JiP Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 I ask cause i've already cut the brake lines off the Hardtop. :D It would be easier to replace i thinks. I couldn't unscrew them so i rang my mechanic beforehand and he told me if i kept the lines he would be able to reconstruct them. Jon. Quote

Just go to the wreckers and get some from a ke55, I got heaps for my ke70 and it cost me $20. Quote
doityourself Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 If braided lines are pure bling factor, then why does Yamaha offer braided brake line upgrades for their sports bikes?? Obviously there is some benefit in using braided vs. standard lines. Quote
Corolla_Kid Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 Obviously their not just pure bling factor but surely you have to draw the line someone as to whether you really need them on an old rolla. Quote

Its actually against the law for Pirtek to make them so they don't. If braided lines are pure bling factor, then why does Yamaha offer braided brake line upgrades for their sports bikes?? Obviously there is some benefit in using braided vs. standard lines. A standard rubber line will expand and lose brake efficiency and power, The braid stops it from expanding thus making it more direct. Quote
