doityourself Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Its actually against the law for Pirtek to make them so they don't. Down here in SA they do, must be different rule in QLD in regards to brake lines and who can make them. Quote
Trev Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Down here in SA they do, must be different rule in QLD in regards to brake lines and who can make them. Dunno, I wnet in there 1 day and noticed the sign saying they can't due to ADR but my mates exhaust shop can make them as they are also a performance shop so figure that 1 out. Quote
olskool Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 I agree with Trev that braided lines make the pressure more direct. My mate just put them on his Trueno AE86 and it has made the biggest difference in pedal feel and performance. He can happily wait till the last second and apply the brakes and he will stop in definitely. Any thing from 0 - 70km/h the car will stop with a VERY short distance. Anything over that though they lock up and the arse end flicks out cause he has different pads on the rear. :P Quote
love ke70 Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 i bet i would outbrake him...even tho i have rubber lines :P and I'm betting its more to do with shit tyres on the rear rather than different pads causing them to lock up. Quote
anastasios Posted March 18, 2007 Author Report Posted March 18, 2007 heyy mate it doesnt matter if its an old corolla but when i take it on the track i want it to be performin to the best of its ability Quote

You have a lot of weight over the front of your car whereas an AE86 has pretty much 50/50 weight distribution. If we were to compare your KE70 with stock brakes to an AE86 with stock brakes, I know which one would pull up quicker due to near-equivalent brake distribution. And the winner would be the AE86. Jono Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 (edited) i'm pretty sure the ae86 would have NO WHERE NEAR 50/50 weight distribution, however its surely balanced better than my ke20. its not a sports car, its popularity is based on a japanese comic book about a poor delivery driver who discovers his nose heavy car can easily get the ass out. sorry if this offends any ae86 fans. love ke70 Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 thats far from hte point raven, i have a lead tipped arrow for a car, and with mildly better brakes it stops unbelievably better. $100 on brakes, or $100 on a line...i know which one i will choose. and i know that in my ke70 the reason the rear brakes lock up when i break heavily is because of the god awful tyres on the rear of the car. and how on earth does comparing a 1ggte ke70 with stock brakes to an ae86 with stock brakes bear any relevance? of course the ke70 will pull up slower....bloody stupid point that is Quote

Someone needs to research their cars. They were neutrally balanced from the factory. Not 100% perfect, but something along the lines of a 53% / 47% F/R weight distribution :o I'm sure if you asked a lot of AE86 owners, they would agree with me. So before you you go giving people WRONG information, do some research. :P Here: AE86 Specs Edited March 18, 2007 by Raven Quote
irokin Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 OK keep it on topic or I'll start handing out warnings and I don't care who you are. Quote
Jono Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 I wasn't giving anyone wrong information. 53/47@950kg. so thats 28.5kg heavier in the front half of the car. Quote
Felix Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 *ducks under all the wangers waving around* The simplest thing you can do to improve the braking ability of your car is to fit the stickiest tyres you can afford on it. Braided brake lines, big discs and calipers make shit all difference if you are only running cheap tyres on your car. Spend your money where it really counts. The tyres are the main thing connecting your car to the road. Quote
love ke70 Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 i think felix just hit the nail on the head. I'm out :P Quote
