towe001 Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 Lol hopefully its not recycled or re-used. Quote
BlueKsev Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 Officer please. Its clearly a 4K. Ground out the 6, glued a bit in, she's a 1300 now :) can't wait to get this running. Quote
Jono.C Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 Hahaha, Ben. Nice. Mind you, Guy my brother knows got pulled over in his AE71 with a 4age, Reckons the cop knew more about 4ag's and 4ag corolla's than he did. Got defected regardless Quote
BlueKsev Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 Ba, this is just the late model EFI Twin Cam 4K mate! But that does suck haha, hope i don't bump into that fella :/ mind you, i haven't been pulled over yet! Quote
rian Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 Why not just get it engineered? That way you won't get defected and you won't void your insurance. Quote
towe001 Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 L plates ? Ha. I think that vehicle ban on for P platers is only for the P platers, I've seen a fair few learners driving high performance vehicles. So whats the point of a ruling on what a P plater can and can not drive when some of them can get the experience in driving a high performance vehicle whilst on their learners. Quote
irokin Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 I think that vehicle ban on for P platers is only for the P platers, I've seen a fair few learners driving high performance vehicles. So whats the point of a ruling on what a P plater can and can not drive when some of them can get the experience in driving a high performance vehicle whilst on their learners. Essentially the exemption just applies automatically for learners. Otherwise they'd be handing out exemptions for learners like candy. 2. Personal circumstances and severe hardship You may apply for a certificate of exemption if you meet the following three criteria (as outlined in A, B and C) below: A. You need to drive a high-powered (performance) vehicle in at least one of the following circumstances: to, or from, your place of employment in the course of your employment to, or from, the education institution you attend to get medical treatment for yourself or a family member. OR The only car reasonably available for you to drive is a high-powered (performance) vehicle and at least one of the following circumstances applies: it was owned by you on 30 June 2007 and is still owned by you it is owned or leased by a member of your immediate family it is in the possession of an immediate family member provided under an employment or salary package. AND B. There is no other transport reasonably available to you. AND C. Refusal to issue the certificate of exemption will cause severe hardship. http://tmr.qld.gov.a...e-vehicles.aspx Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 So whats the point of a ruling on what a P plater can and can not drive when some of them can get the experience in driving a high performance vehicle whilst on their learners. Because when you're on your L's you have to have a fully licensed supervisor sitting next to you at all times, and most of those times it is a nagging parent so no fun stuff. P-platers are dangerous in high performance vehicles because they usually are by themselves with little experience, or in a car full of mates egging them on. Quote
BlueKsev Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Engineering needs money and a full roadworthy, not what i have at the moment so this will do until then. Il look into it later on for sure though, it might not be as much work as i thought. And, a 1300 twin cam looks cooler ;) Also yeah i'll be driving this with P plates, not too sure on the rules of what i can be driving there but i know i am aloud to drive v8's and turbo's on my Ls? ke70dave Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Engineering my 4age in my ke70 cost me $70 and 30mins of time, no RWC required. Quote
BlueKsev Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Really? Upgrade brakes or anything? This is the 100kw model as well.. but when i was looking into getting my 4A-C modplated into the ke70 i was pretty sure it required a full roadworthy... so i didnt do it Quote
rian Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 IMO if you can afford to spend thousands of dollars doing a 4AGE engine conversion, you can afford to get it engineered. And if you can't afford to get it engineered you certainly cannot afford to pay for damages to another vehicle/person if you are unfortunate enough to have a crash, which will be the case because your insurance won't cover it. It just seems like the most sensible option to me, I can't see why people take the risk of not getting it engineered and legal. I'm not having a dig at you Ben but that's just what I think is way to go, however while you're on your Ps it's going to be illegal for you to drive your car anyway. Dave where did you get your car engineered? Quote
