We got a new franchisee a month ago he didn't want/need me so didn't bother doing up another contract for me.nobody even bothred to ring and tell me my employment had been terminated so now I'm a bum it's just lucky I have more then enough money saved up and I'm ahead in my morgage payments by 6 months. But f@$k I'm bored of sitting at home all day every day. It's just bs that nobody told me. Edited March 17, 2009 by Corolla_Gurl Quote
SoulSearcher Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 WGMG - the hire car that we're having to drive while the lancer is getting its panels beatin'Its an '07 holden Barina selfshifter shut box - 70 bucks a day to drive this horrid piece of crap for a whole week of pure torture. It supposedly has a 1.6litre twincam under its bonnet the tacho red lines at 7 grand, but i'm so glad foot flat to the floor it shifts gears at around 5 grand its its its :P its to bother some anywhere near that to say the least of it... otherwise the gearshift from 1st to 2nd is nice and smooth - it just revs the ring out of itself as it changes gears drops back down to a lower rev and your in 2nd (lancer has a little jolt about it)... sit in the drivers seat and its like sitting in a babies highchair, almost have to lean over to reach the handbrake and yet to see where the bonnet ends just about have to stand up, anything past the washer jets is a deadzone. On that, visibility around the thing is shocking to say the least (lancer has a few poor spots...). Lever for the fuel cap - check its down between the drivers highchair and the door. Now where is the damn boot release lever - i'll be damned if i'm using the remote all the time... hang on, its the little button on the drivers door next to the speaker. Crikey i could just go on and on about the poo on wheels.... Yes it does have a couple of good things about it and one being that we hand the bucket of crude back on saturday :( Edit - driving at night is like playing Russian roulette - Braille by torch light would be easier you should write reviews on cars!!! :y: Quote
towe001 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 you should write reviews on cars!!! :D might be an idea. Just driving the stupid thing is a mission most days.... like trying to make a right hand turn across a busy street is almost a flip of the coin. Is that coming break big enough ?? Will this puss box be able to pick its slime up off the ground quick enough to make said break ?? Almost got written off yesterday afternoon cause of its snail power. My old ae82 twincam seca was a oh so much nicer car to drive and sit in Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 WGMG-phoning the mechanic to find out the bill for my merc..........a $700 estimated bill (by him) turned into a $1200 total!!! Quote
JiP Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Did they call you and advise you of the price change?? It really pisses me off when they don't. Or when they say it'll be done by x time and it isn't. Or its done and no one lets you know. Quote
love ke70 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 hmm, i actually have a whinge to add to this thread. unusual, usually I'm jibberjabering...like now so anyway, got this rotary hammer drill, f@$kin awesome one at that. $685 new. its a few years old and having an issue when you load it up, the drill bit jams and the motor keeps running and it makes a ticking noise as if somethings slipping. so first off take it into usual tool guy. about 2 months later get a call...i just found your drill, what was wrong with it? explain, ok, ill get it looked at. get a call about 2 months later, we can't find anything wrong with it, we had a look, must be the type of drill your using, here, try these ones. nope, still f@$ked. so it sits in the trailer a couple more months. finally december last year, take it to tradetools. oh no, can't take it here, gotta go to springwood, from yatala. alrght. so i go there. try and explain the issue, seems the dickhead isnt listening, not writing what I'm saying on the job card. so i give up and tell him to make sure the techs test it, identify the issue, and rectify that. and yes i want a quote before you do any work. so about a month later. hi, your rotary hammer drill is ready to pick up. wtf, how much? i asked for a quote. oh well its done... 248 dollars :D   :sob: f@$king what... so about 2 months later, ie, monday, i go in and say gday, i here you ahve my drill. pulls it up, oh yes here you go. so i try argue the point of not getting quoted... well we can pull out the parts we put in it... what did you do? a service kit. whats included in that, don't know, techs have gone home, sorry. that will be 248. blah i say. did you test it, its fixed? I'm not paying this for it to do the same thing. oh yes sir, we normally test them before it gets sent back out. ok, better be. get it on site the next day, first hole try and drill, same issue, and then the end falls off the f@$king thing! take it back. oh, that bits meant to come off. yes, i know, but it hasnt come off in the past how many years of use, and now its falls off after your magic fingers have f@$ked it, and it still has the same issue as before. wellll no techs here, no manager. have to ring u in the morning. so i get the call this morning. hi,we tested it, we now see what its doing. oh goody i say. theres a very worn main shaft, and the fitting it goes into, both need replacing, and the sticky trigger means the whatever whatever will need replacing. all that plus the service already done will be over $500 :o :o :o :o why didnt you pick this up first time? umm, don't know, that tech is now retired so we can't ask him... best we can do is refund you for what we have done and leave it at that. so after all that, I'm left with a still f@$ked drill. that really only needs a main shaft and fitting thingy. so I'm 8 months down, several trips back and forward. and theyve replaced a few orings and greased a few things pointlessly... atleast the problem is now identified so i can take it somewhere else and get them to fix the sole problem with the drill, the worn shaft. so yes, thats my little spat. why is it so hard for people to do what you ask and test something before and after they fix it, to know what theyre fixing? Or when they say it'll be done by x time and it isn't. Or its done and no one lets you know. nope, but i got a MAJOR break down on the cost and its reasonable, but more of a shock than anything else. Still pretty pissed off, but i suppose i need to look after the daily, after all it is the car i spend driving 90% of the time. atleast the car is now 100% PERFECT :D Quote
JiP Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Just buy a brand new one. What brand is it anyway?? Check out ebay if you already have the charger and batteries. Like I found a Makitta impact driver for $65 without battery, case and charger. Don't spend $500 fixing it when you could easily buy another for cheaper. Quote

Like I found a Makitta impact driver for $65 without battery, case and charger. Don't spend $500 fixing it when you could easily buy another for cheaper. A Metabo rep came into work a few weeks back and he showed us the difference between an impact driver and a rotary hammer drill on a block of concrete (about as thick as a normal house brick) - by the time the impact driver had made a dent in the block the hammer drill made the block look like soft butter. Have a look at the new ROK brand of tools - cheaper price for the same or better quality... Quote
love ke70 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 lol yeah this gets used for drilling 14mm diameter holes 150mm deep in concrete slabs. usually 50 - 100 or more per job. 1 job a week minimum. this ones a bosch one. shits all over the makita one. i have an aldi special, cost me 50 bucks, better than makita, nearly as good as bosch. not user friendly though, come out with a sore hand after 100 holes, the bosch one is brilliant for the user, hardly any vibration at the handle and sooo fast at going down, without excessive speed so the drill stays as cool as possible. might have to look into this ROK brand. maybe tomorrow. past my bedtime. JiP Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 No, the reason I said impact driver is cause thats what I was searching for. I wasn't suggesting it. What I was saying is the impact driver was going for $65 while at the shops its $365 minimum. Quote
Lexxi[ke35] Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 WGMG is me having to wait bloody three months just to see the specialist for fifteen minutes for them to tell me exactly what the doctor said, and my mum getting into the specialist a week after a doctors appointment and they book her in for surgery straight away, where I had to wait another three months! AND THEN mum booking her surgery for the week we're supposed to be going to Sydney :D Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 WPMO - having the AE82 fail to crank for the g/f again, and having to try and diagnose something over the phone with her, and she isn't very mechanically minded. Hopefully just a terminal problem, alternator was replaced last year and it's not a starter motor problem either (eventually started but then cut-out, which should also rule out flat battery), but I won't be able to look at it until the weekend Quote
orangeLJ Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 hahaha, gotta love calls with "the car is doing this, what do I do? what is it? whats that thing called again" One of my very good friends is hopeless with cars, she had a $1000 dollar lancer with a worn rotator stalk switch (headlights) that used to vibrate its way around and turn the lights on. I used to get calls all the time from her saying she had a flat battery and wondering if I could go help (her dad isnt the most car orientated person either!) She never knew it was a flat battery, no matter how often I told her. as a bonus, she would pull the dipstick out and anything else she knew about, and then not put it back properly so Id get it started and it would spray oil everywhere, or something stupid like that. Was always a laugh and I still get to poke fun at her for it (has a new car now with less problems, and a factory warranty!) WGMG is coming to work on a Thursday and feeling like its friday. Always makes the day go slow and tomorrow never seems to come. Quote
