Why did they go v6 instead of l6 in this one?

i think they went to the v because they had all ready developed the vq35de for the 350z and infinity's so it was probably a cost thing. just use whats all ready there and add boost!

Well Theres nothing wrong with just adding boost. Gave them good results.

I was gonna suggest space but you could fit a bus powerplant in there.

manufacturers are tending towards v6's now due to packaging constraints and impact safety to pedestrians ie crush zones etc.

Except while the 350Z uses the VQ35DE (or VQ35HR now), the GT-R uses the VR38DETT, which is apparently a completely new motor specific to only the GT-R. I think that the GT-R chassis also has some (limited) similarities with that of the 350Z, so another benefit of using a V6 instead of a straight six would be that it would be easier to package. Plus the weight of the motor ends up further back in the car than with a straight six simply by being a shorter motor.

i thought that they may have used a different crank for the gtr giving it its bigger displacement but used the same blocks to keep costs down. i may well be wrong through.

add to that, anyone who has ever driven a Nissan V6 will tell you, its one of the smoothest,pleasurable motors you'll ever sample.

Yeah even the good old VG30 is a pretty sweet engine... especially non turbo. Nice and tractable down low which makes them quite easy to drive.

What a boat!!! The R32 is the real "Godzilla" and the only one that looks any good in my opinion.

 

The other thing is that it will be PINK! well it is a nissan at the end of the day.
