Thanks everyone!

I'm impressed. Being absolutely hopeless at mechanics, I would have thought for sure this would need to be set up in a shop before it would run. Did your car have a computer/ECU before the EFI (it has one now right?)?

I have always hated the idea of putting EFI in my KE10. She has no electronics, and this makes her very simple to work on, but not very fast. You're starting to change my mind!

It can be pretty easy, aftermarket computers are very easy to wire,

especially this one because it only controls fuel,

The only wires are coil + and - , water temp, injectors, battery +, and tps.

It is a microtech d4s, it is so old the tuning is done by screwdriver, so its even simpler!

I picked it up for $150, which is the most you would ever pay for one. :y:

this is the computer:

my efi fuel pump

all hooked up.

And this is yesterday, the making of the gearbox crossmember to suit the trimatic,

don't even ask why i didnt just go to a manual, i really don't know anymore!

Tomorrow, I will make the gearbox linkages, and check out the tailshaft situation.

Then, i just need a bit of exhaust made up front, because the efi exhaust manifold is slightly different.

Then rwc!

Tune by screwdriver, gotta love it! Looking good mate, will be a great little daily. Just thought I'd let you know a trick for seized injectors. Have someone cranking the motor and hit them with a brass punch and hammer, rough, but it works

I chose not to use a surge tank, instead i made a gravity feed setup,

where i replaced the drain plug in the tank with a hose fitting.

This will give no issues in daily driving, but on a real empty tank,

if you were to do a quick flick in a burnout, or similar, it would likely run out of fuel.

I would not risk it on any sort of forced induction, or worked motor,

but as a stock 5k, if it was to ever happen, no harm would come of it.

On the ke30, i run a bosch 044, a 130gph lift pump, and am upgrading to 3 litre surge tank,

sounds like you're on the right track with yours, i would definately run a surge tank on it,

even a small one would be fine, as long as your fuel return line goes back into the surge tank.

Update...

well i got the tailshaft in, and the gearbox linkages are done, so shes all ready to drive.....

well it was.....

It ran really well for a few days and then refused to start again :bash:

Soooo, i got it to start again, but only by running the computer super rich, or as rich as it would go..

This is a problem considering the injectors are 200cc on this little piss weak motor.

I spent a week trying everything i could think of to get it to run correctly,

and it persists in annoying me, so after eliminating every aspect i could think of,

the crappy old d4s has got the flick.

I think it was sabotage........

The replacement is a haltech f7b, and is yet to arrive....

I really should have just bought another wolf

Anyway, i think i have learn't my lesson.

I have concluded that for all of the custom work,

and stuffing around that i have done to fit this trimatic, and tight arse computer,

I really could have put an sr20de in it, and had it running for the same time, and cost. ;)

It is likely that this motor package will be up for sale in the near future,

and a heavily worked sr20de and auto, will take its place.

P.S you have really nice legs for a bloke lol-crying.gif

i work out :bash:

Wolf v4 were 1400 new, but i believe they were recently discontinued ,

and replaced by version 5, so it would be second hand if i got one, they are alot cheaper that way!

I had it running nice with a 5 minute tune, but it started running crap before i got the tailshaft in,

so i havn't even gone for a spin yet.

I am still chasing an sc14 at a resonable price, they just seem to go for so much lately.

Real keen to find out what the k motor + sc14 fuss is all about.

I picked my V4 up for $300! :bash: Had to send it away to have the latest version of firmware on but that was only like $90.

You sure those injectors have started to seize up again or something? you try other injectors again?

Long time no updates!!!

I ran out of time with the efi, due to not wanting to ride my bike to work in the freezing cold!

so, the beast is carby powered so far

I have had the work ute for a few weeks now,

so i have had the opportunity to sort out a few things that were really bugging me.

First the drivers seat, this was killing my back, so i bolted in a TA22 seat i had from my ke30,

the ke ones will be heading to the upholsterer soon to get restored.

Next was the carby, damn thing wont idle, so i picked up the fresh one from corollaandy

now she runs sweet!
