Not really in a K box. There's no nylon bushes etc like say a mazda box.

Top bit doesn't unscrew. :y: Its rubber mounted, you need to basically break the rubber to take that top bit off. I had to do this with my T50 shifter as the TA22 thread for the gear knob was tiny. I busted the TA22 one off and then skiaflexed a KE55 type one back on.

Oh fair enough! I ordered a shifter gasket, the lil cup bush and a boot (the first boot that covers the shifter ball bit). Cost me 28 bucks, which is ok.

Another problem, I ordered a KE70 Clutch Cable as I was previously using a KE55 aftermarket item, It came in today but it didn't come with the part that attaches to the gearbox fork? Although it does seem a million times better than the KE55 one I was using.

I'm just putting it out there, this is a seriously long thread. Complete with some good info. Should really dissect it into the FAQ....

I'm not sure I've even read much of the early stuff.

The head/pushrod/rocker gear etc info is deffinately worth going in the FAQ.

We should just re-name it "Anastasios's 'virtually' build my engine" thread!! :y:

Hahahaha yea I like thinking about shit before I do it, In the past I have done things the cheap nasty way but now that I am a bit older I can see the value in research and how it can also help others.

I don't mind if one of the mods changes the title to that, or even swaps it into the build section.

Also I get trade price at Toyota, so if anyone in the Sydney area would like some cheaper parts let me know.

The best part about this engine is that I haven't even come close to fitting the Mikuni quad throttle body setup! That will be interesting. But I have decided to keep with the Holley for the moment and see the potential I can get from it.

I have a new problem now, the sump plug is threaded, I will have to get a new one, I think it threaded because I did not use the washer, hopefully the sump is not threaded too.

just putting it out there, with the air injection ports, my 4y engine (tarago, hilux, hiace, dyna) has convenient plugs for air injection blanked off with little threaded plugs.... don't know if they are the same for k series engine air injection though.

I went to a fastener shop and bought some bolts that fit into the holes, so that should be ok for now, the sump plug pretty much has no thread on it at all, so I will be heading to Toyota on Monday to buy a new one and test if the sump itself is threaded too,

Is anyone else's 5K using a 14mm sump plug?

Ok the sump plug issue is sorted, it turns out i have a Spacia sump with a 12mm sump plug,

I picked up the clevis for the clutch cable but I'm not sure how the split pin holds it to the cable?

Anyone with a KE70 done this before?

No idea where the split pin is supposed to go. I honestly don't think its needed anyway, the tension on the clutch cable will hold the clip on so just assemble it as per pic 2 (once cable is through the bellhousing) and hook it on the fork.
