:: sigh ::

Its not the culture you think it is..

It won't be the culture it is now, in 15years...

& its just a lump of land sticking out of the water, the same as all the rest in the world...

Noooo, boo to you!

I know it's changed from my generation to the next, but I won't let that take away the way I feel about my country.

Go to a dawn service on Anzac day and you will see that a lot of people still remember what it means to be an Aussie.

So true that its changed over the years. I still remember back in primary school, morning parade we had to sing

as the flag was raised. And some time though grade 6 the anthem was changed to Advance Australia Fair

And then at high school we had morning parade each day for notices and class role calls. And then that was canned for a once a week thing. I don't think its even done now a days.

We are also becoming more "multi-cultural" as well

Every now again i see a flag pole planted in some ones front yard with the Australian flag swinging from it. Toowoomba has a flag pole with the national flag on it at one of the main public parks (Picnic Point) and it can be seen from just about every point in Toowoomba. Makes me proud when i see it.

Even knowing that you may not be a true blue aussie (heck i'm not a real fan of sports apart from motorsport and i can't stand the great aussie heat), you might be an import, you might even be an export, you may not even get the chance to step out of Australian waters. There's a reason of why this lump of dirt above the water is different to the other lumps of dirt above the water... Cause of who we are ? Cause of what we are ?

Verse Three of Advance Australia Fair

Beneath our radiant southern Cross,

We'll toil with hearts and hands;

To make this Commonwealth of ours

Renowned of all the lands;

For those who've come across the seas

We've boundless plains to share;

With courage let us all combine

To advance Australia fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing

"Advance Australia fair!"

I saw something interesting on tele last night about our flag and how some want it to change. I would just have to say at one stage I would have agreed but now I'd want it to stay just as is. I couldn't imagine our flag without the union jack and if they tried to insert something else in it would just look stupid.

Many people have fought under this flag in wars and in competitions over the years. So this flag means something to all them and their families. Plus I'm sure it means something to all of us too.

I'm proud to be an Aussie and am enjoying seeing so many cars wearing their countries flag with pride. I have seen the southern cross pop up in stickers alot over the years and even as tatoos with the younger generation.

When you sit down and think about the country we live in you realise how lucky we are. There are so many countries that are far worse than ours.

I've been to most of them.

The United States, for one... Horrible place. I pity the poor sods that live there. Don't believe me? Go have a look. I personally guarantee you'll appreciate Australia a lot more when you get back.

On that point, and perhaps not surprisingly, most people who whinge about this country have usually not been overseas and have no basis for comparison... Bali and New Zealand don't count as overseas either.

Tasmania does. You guys are weird.

crap its been done already :D

Ive been overseas a couple times and when you get back well for me at least it was a mid 20's day in Adelaide and you walked out onto the tarmac and went into the terminal.

Was because of the fact that once we got off the plane in manilla, it was like trying to breath under water, then compared to AUS, when we got back its bliss!
