has any one driven in the tassie targa rally.

 

i would love to drive this rally it looks like so much fun i hope it never gets banned

Was an official for 5 days and few years ago and it was a ball >| Got to drive some of the same roads, at legal road speeds :lolcry:, and they are a blast.

 

Cost and licensing conditions stopped me from pursuing the competing dream - that and a lack of a suitable car......

Serviced on the Auckland to Wellington one in NZ.. Some great cars turn up, we were running a worked 260Z and there were plenty of classics about the same age.

The Fiat 500 Abarth isn't the run of the mill Bambina..........

I work on Targa every year. Mainly the corporate stuff but still get to see a lot of action.

Also get some "Hot laps" at Symmons Plains every year. Really hoping I'll get a ride in a new GTR this year..... was supposed to last year and that guy never showed up so I got put in a Maloo ute. :wub:

 

We also have rollaclub cruises through Targa stages quite often. :D

Which of course we drive at a safe and legal speed....... :wub:

I thought the VIP GTR was there last year but broke down due to the advanced computer in it throwing up too many codes.

I didn't realise he got to finish the race, I didn't watch it so I thought only the one 35 was there.

Love the rides days. When the Australian Rally Championship was down in Tassie, we officialled a couple of times and on the media day the missus got a couple of hot laps around the super special stage down at DECA (?). I was on the otherside of the course so I was spitting chips!!!! Even worse was when she got a ride around Albert Park in a Porsche :wub:

Thats him. He won Targa West just before last years Targa Tas. Never rocked up to symmons for hot laps.

 

Col - Nah never met Paul Darko. What does he do for targa, drive or some sort of official etc.

I do all of the audio visual for the drivers breif, hot laps, media breifs and corporate bits and pieces as an event partner.

Personaly I think targa has gone a bit away from a rally.

Just how they do there timing, as its not as a real rally like rally tas,

its more suited so everyone thinks there going well even if there going shit kinda thing.

Entry fee is pretty big I think $7000? for modern.

I reckon WP targa would be the go all the roads are awesome down south, nice 2 day event, and pretty compact.

 

But it depends what you like, thats just my personal opinion
