August 12, 201016 yr comment_459025 The old 180B wagon I had years ago used to use about that much oil, eventually we gave up, ripped out the radiator, removed the bonnet (air cooling FTW), drained the sump and ran it on lawn mower fuel....... August 13, 201016 yr comment_459196 From the assumed condition of your engine, it'll hold valve anywhere between 1 minute and 3 minutes, lots of variables, like topping up the oil first, having water in it, cold or warm start etc. etc. And before you ask, no, it won't go BANG, it'll rattle to a disappointing halt in a cloud of oil smoke.
