A couple of minor issues that I've noticed and I'm sure you'll get around to in due time Ben ;)

 

- No link at the bottom of the page i.e rollaclub.com > Rollaclub Social > News (like at the top of the page)

 

- People without Avatars or some people with have a red x as their picture instead.

Doesn't really matter now and wasn't really a difficult thing anyway. Just went and watched F1 P1+2 and played some counterstrike while the server chugged away converting.

Theres some weird setting I just found that limits it to the past year. For large boards, save searching through a few million posts. Thanks for spotting that ;) fixed.

 

I'm going to have to start rebuilding all the posts today. Looks like the quote setup changed and its broken ALL of the quotes pre update. Hrm lets see. 120,000 PMs took about 4 hours. 460,000 posts should only take about 16 hours. Sweet!

Why the buttons for voting??

 

Are they designed for sites that have some sort of popularity contest between the members? Some weird American cultural nuance that is completely beyond me??

 

I see them on other sites and just can't understand what they are expected to be used for

Normally used for reputation on helpful posts or posting good pics of boobs (twincam).

Yea. Yet to be seen whether the rep system will be useful. I can think of a couple of situations in the past month where it would have come in handy. It comes with the software, wasn't a conscious addition so its no loss if we don't end up using it.

Don't ask how to add an image to your profile yet. Have to change settings for all the user groups before that can happen.

Few other boards I'm on use this format, with the vote up/down buttons.

Doesn't seem to be very effectual except in cases where someone replies to a post making a valid point, which infuriates the OP and all his mates, who then vote you down in a stunning display of the democratic process and great internet justice.

Automatic, the tool just runs on the server and updates all the posts. About 10% done already so probably only going to be a few hours. Certainly giving the server a workout!

but i can't find my assisant anywhere... guess i wasnt treating him very good and ran away

 

he was handy for finding new posts and for finding the subjects i had posted on, now i need another assistant to find the old one ;)

One thing i like is that in my email manager (or what ever you'd call thunderbird) is that when someones replied to a topic instead of it just coming up with "Topic Subscription Reply Notification ( rollaclub.com )" its now "_______replied to Site Maintenance" . Thats pretty cool.

 

The only thing that i'm a little annoyed with is when i reply to a double quote (like above) is that i have to either go back to the first quote and copy that or type it out. But bah i work around it

Click multi quote on the posts you want to reply to and then hit 'add reply' at the bottom of the page.
