The choice is between ae101 4agze and ca18det for my rolla.

i want an all alloy suzuki G13B in my ke15 later on.

yeah obvisouly i don't care about hybrids as i m just finishing mine of.

Ca18's are cheap easy to source. make good power already turbo,proven,small, relatively light and there are bucket loads of cheap parts out there to suit whatever hp you want not to mention they are very well designed and no lets not have the whole argument "this motor s better than ca18"

 

Anyway good engine swap plus light KExx = quick car!

 

But i reckon whole gives a f*ck who made what motor the 1/4 mile can be the JUDGE of whos best!!!

I'm not really after a 1/4 time, can't we settle it on the track? :D

this might be a little bit too weird, but look at it this way: i reckon anyone who SERIOUSLY praises or condemns a car based on its brand name is no more sound of mind than a racist in the KKK.

 

Yeah sure, a certain brand might make a lot of crap cars, but then again, a lot of black people are criminals.

 

I don't mind people loving a certain brand but nissan vs toyota... holden vs ford.... i mean come on all of these companies have done pretty damn well and havn't ACTUALLY come out with any seriously crap cars. You have to be exaggerating or out of your mind to say "all toyotas are crap" or "all fords are crap" and mean it... i mean come on.

 

Seriously, the whole brand-name-hatred thing is just as idiotic as racism in my mind. And condemning a car with a hybrid engine is just like condemning a half-white half-black child. THEYRE ALL JUST CARS if you condemn a car based on its brand name, get your head out of your arse.

yeah agree take each car on its own merits i reckon. Not its makers history. I respect all nice cars even though people give "rice cars" a bad name and there are heaps of bogans driving fords and holdens. People don't even normally have a decent reason. Its more the piont that dad drives (insert brand here) so i hate the other brand!

I'm a Ford Driver, but i don't consider myself bogan. I also used to be the Holden Vs Ford type now BUT, i realised that type of game is immature and people need to grow up and repsect a car for WHAT it is, not WHO it's made by.

 

That said, the only reason i still have the falcon is due to the amount of carrying space required to transport my band equipment around. If i coulod get hold of a Corolla Wagon here in SA, once i got a bit more money, I will happily sell the Falcon. It's served me well over the past 2 years, thats for sure.

 

If i keep it, plans for a 1JZ or 2JZ are going to be in the works. :jamie:

I've been dreaming about Lex v8 1UZ-FE in KE26 for a while... The hybrid part would be TH700 R4 tranny with manual shift mod. And maybe some other brand turbos, to make some wooshh efect :jamie: :(

Don't have to be a f@$khead about stirring up the competition!! However, a bit of trash-talking never hurt anyone!! All arguements can be settled at the track (or by statistics and literature)!! =)

 

I had a mate with a Merc. Now, me being a BMW owner (and Merc being BMWs closest rival), I had to give him a bit of grief about it!! So he sold the Merc and bought a BMW too!! :unsure:

 

He didn't like being told that his 1969 Datsun 1000 coupe would be running 2nd to a 1969 Toyota KE15 Sprinter in Targa Tasmania in a few years either!! :(

I like Toyotas because they are unbreakable and there are plenty of body spares available but sometimes the engines I want to use are too expensive and as people have stated don't have the best aftermarket support.

 

Once I have finished with the 4runner I will be building another hilux, however this one will be setup for racing using silvia runing gear....as long as my engineer approves it. CA18det, front suspension and IRS. Plenty of Taiwanese panels available, always plenty of xtra cab or single cab tubs floating around and then there is stacks of nissan stuff available at the importers. Too easy, best of both worlds.
