SLO-030 Posted April 13, 2011 Author Report Posted April 13, 2011 DO IT Question's I'd like to ask you is how? how will you have the "b" pillars? how will you close off the cabin from the tray? The rest I think is straight forward. I considered turning my sedan wreck into a cab chassis but gave up on the idea. May have a bit of fun with it though once I part it out. Yep, will have a "b: pillar and roof over the back of the doors 30x30 shs and sheet metal firewal to partition cab from tray. Really, thats the least of my problems. Gotta get the structual rigidity back into it.
SLO-030 Posted April 13, 2011 Author Report Posted April 13, 2011 Cool man, as long as you do it properly! I wonder how long this project will take ? :lolcry: Once i can get in writing what I'm gonna need to do to satisfy the engineer, it'll happen reasonably quick. Got access to all the RHS, SHS, sheet metal. I'll be happy to get it to a stage where the engineer is satisfied and has signed off on the conversion. From there I can assess where its going from then.
JJT036 Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Maybe you could use "Monster Garage" as inspiration to this Project. It could work. :jamie: Josh
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I've seen a few e7 wagons have this done. Will be mad.
cuzzo Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 don't ruin the wags unless the whole rear end has heaps of rust.

dreamin Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 I like this idea, i was gonna do it a while ago. My plan was basically to cut the back off and weld the tailgate back on behind the pillar and make a tray for it. I didnt really look into it to much though but thought it would have looked pretty stock. +1 for the 1UZ aswell
philbey Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Whatever you do, make sure you frame it out before you cut the roof.
SLO-030 Posted April 14, 2011 Author Report Posted April 14, 2011 don't ruin the wags unless the whole rear end has heaps of rust. It was for sale, Recieved little to no interest.. Oh god poor wagon! Just make sure you let me know when your gonna cut it! Gotta see this haha! Will let you know when it happens Tom. Whatever you do, make sure you frame it out before you cut the roof. Definatly, don't want a concertina corolla
abbott Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 I'm thinking 7k ke36 ute? maybe with a little bit of forced induction if you wanna get really excited!
greenmac80 Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 after discussing the removal of the roof on my ke10 with an engineer... the crux of it is that you'll need to make it a 'full chassis' join the front rails to the rear rails. and the 'ladder it' planty of bracing. would need to be carefull removing the floor pan etc... to not twist the car too much.. pretty much what 1jzke55 has done. he'd be the guy to talk to on the actual 'how to'.
SLO-030 Posted April 14, 2011 Author Report Posted April 14, 2011 I wouldn't be removing the floor pan. Joining chassis rails front to rear is what i've come to already. Will try get some pics of Mungi Mods, RA60 sunchaser to see what they have done underneath to strengthen the floorpan.
greenmac80 Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 i assume this is goin to be massively long term.... huge amounts of work.... 'nothing' is going to be easy or a case of 'just do this & just do that' as long as your thinking it through and sure you up for all the work.... look at the 4v powered kesev ute on toymods... that guy has money but that build is still taking years. ke36 ute would be rad but f@#k me its gonna chew the money.
