dbr11k Posted October 24, 2011 Author Report Posted October 24, 2011 i suppose its just for the wank factor haha. i have a couple of HID kits lying around from previous cars anyways so i'm not going to the extra cost really.. and i love the look of quad lights :P Quote
dbr11k Posted October 26, 2011 Author Report Posted October 26, 2011 well the coil overs showed up this morning.. and although i was going to wait and build them up with the rest of the parts before i put them in the car.. i just couldnt do it :rolls: the thing is crazy stiff in the front end now, not sure what spring rates but they definatley feel like more than 6kg as ive had 6kg in a rolla before and these are WAY stiffer.. on a shitter note.. i was in a hurry before and got the missus to help me bleed the brakes.. grabbed a 1 litre container of what i thought was brake fluid out of the shed....... my car now stops with the help of 25w60 :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: Quote

dbr11k Posted October 27, 2011 Author Report Posted October 27, 2011 and here is some bum shots cause i love her bum lol Quote
Ella Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 needs moar all one colour, also my coilovers sit at that height all the way up, different people build them different ways, building your own FTW Quote
dbr11k Posted October 27, 2011 Author Report Posted October 27, 2011 so do i just cut that threaded sleeve off and cut the tube say another 2 inches and weld it back on? and than mine will be like yours? is it only that one part that needs welding? i'm a pretty competent welder but i will probably give them to my tafe teacher/close friend as i would trust the little kiwi's welds with my life. dbr11k Posted October 31, 2011 Author Report Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) brakes are completely FUKED :( on a lighter note i did a wheel alignment, set my camber at 5 degrees, new timken wheel bearings, fixed my exhaust leaks (even though i am eventually going to make some side pipes) did a bit on my rear guards, put a new fan blt on and replaced the tensioner as it was screwed and fixed the rust sections in the boot, i will get pics tomorrow hopefully.. rian Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) so do i just cut that threaded sleeve off and cut the tube say another 2 inches and weld it back on? and than mine will be like yours? is it only that one part that needs welding? i'm a pretty competent welder but i will probably give them to my tafe teacher/close friend as i would trust the little kiwi's welds with my life. The length of the strut tube usually depends on the shock inside it, so you can't just cut the tube 2 inches shorter unless there is a 2 inch spacer under the shock that you can remove, otherwise the shock will be too long for the strut tube. And I think if you were to reweld the strut tube that it would be best to have the join under the middle of the threaded sleeve, not below the threaded sleeve. Which would require you to remove the sleeve somehow = effort lol Why not just get shorter springs? King Springs and Eibach make tonnes of springs of different lengths and rates in the same diameter as the ones you have on the struts at the moment. Edited October 31, 2011 by rianwest Quote
dbr11k Posted October 31, 2011 Author Report Posted October 31, 2011 yea i sorta thought about that after i wrote it haha .. i'm not really keen on king springs but i'll have a look around for some decent ones.. i want about 6-7kg Quote
rian Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 King Springs make coilover springs in just about any rate and size, I've got 8kg 200mm King Springs coilover springs and King Spring helper springs. They don't just make the "lows" and "superlows" that people use in their failcons and commobores haha. Check out their catalogue(download): King Springs Prosport Catalogue By the way this is a cool car, I want a 4AGE ?E7? so bad! Quote
ke70dave Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) rianwest knows his stuff! looks like this car is a bit of a disaster atm.. maybe focus on one thing and get it sorted before moving onto the next! el-o-el at putting oil in your brake system. i suggest only using brake fluid to flush, nothign else. and i suggest doing it fast, as leaving brake systems 'dry' will only attract rust. buy like 3 bottles of your chosen fluid, and just keep on pumping it through untill its clear of any crap. also shock absorbers have more effect on ride quality than springs. maybe you have soft shocks, and blooody stiff shocks. do you know what shocks you have? edit: cool dog! dbr11k Posted November 1, 2011 Author Report Posted November 1, 2011 Yea I bought 2 litres of brake fluid and sucked it all through .. by the time I finished sucking it through the front brakes wouldn't bleed.. my guess is it's swollen up the seals and shit to the point where it has clogged up the insides of the master cylinder.. so master cylinder #3 here we come .. and may as well get some new front brake lines while I'm at it.. I'm not worried about getting new rear lines cause I am still waiting on my t-series diff :glare: And I'm not sure what shocks they are, but it is bloody stiff.. I wasn't really worried about ride quality as I'm happy with it, more about the ride height.. Didn't do anything on the guards today as I didn't end up going to tafe.. got bored and spray painted the ke55 lol. Quote
Ella Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 What free unsprung height are your springs and what inner diameter are they? Mine are a little too short and I'm not 100% happy with that, maybe we could trade? Quote
