Okay so I was thinking of club regoing my ke, it has a defect and is unregistered. Ive been really lazy but I think its time to do something bout it. If anyone can help me in the right direction or get me in club that would be much appreciated.

A) - Stop being lazy

B) - Get the car to a somewhat roadworthy condition, as there's no chance of getting registered under the club permit scheme with it looking like a POS/being defected. The Club Permit scheme is heading towards requiring roadworthy certificates as it is, having defected deathtraps making applications is not going to help matters.

C) - Do your own research into car clubs in your area, find out what clubs are out there, what they do & which one you think suits you the best. Then join up, some clubs have not only a joining fee but a waiting period before you can apply for a club permit, basically they like to know who you are & what you're about before issuing you with that privilege. Which if your car is then found to be defectable/unroadworthy or you're found driving outside the road rules, can (as above) have serious repercussions for the club. When one person can screw the whole thing up for everyone (not just that clubs members, I mean EVERYONE on the club permit scheme), don't be surprised if you find the process very serious indeed.

Agreed,no way is it to be regards as an easy out for a POS car and most def. a priviledge that should be appreciated and respected as enough people are screwing things up for car enthusiasts at the moment, don't need more help!

your car has to be in a roadworthy condition, some clubs will ask you to attend two meetings a year others more. since vicroads changed the permit system. everybody abuses the system, you don,t have to be going to or from club events. or club related activeties thats why there are so many club rego cars now, its $ 180 for 90 day log book or $80 for 45 day log book. and log book must be filled in or its a $600 fine makes normal rego cheap.

An interesting first post, that certainly doesn't put your best foot forward.

If you are indeed an enthusiast, who has just hit a patch of the CBF's, you may well enjoy becoming part of TCCAV - www.tccav.org.au

Plenty of knowledge and enthusiasm can be tapped into among the club members to help you get your Corolla back on the road.

However, we do take a dim view of people wanting to put shit boxes on club rego and your car will effectively be given a roadworthy in its club reg inspection, so think about how you can approach that and put your best foot forward.

Good luck!

If your car is 30 years or older this may be an option.

My KE55 is on historic rego with Toymods club,

My car is original so to speak, Historic Rego allows period correct modifications,

I drive my car only to shows, club events and maintenance runs ie trip to mechanic/panel beater , I keep a log book and have approval for every trip before use.

I treat this as a privilege and do not abuse it.

That should have all the information your require.

Toymods Historic Rego is only applicable to NSW, if the OP is in another state then they can't use it. Even if it was, it will still have to pass a pink slip which would be a problem if it is currently defected and unrego'd
