Hey guys I have recently put a 16v 4age into my ae71 wagon. It was running fine in previous car and after I converted it was running in my wagon. But recently it has had strange on and off sparking issues. The timing is currently out but that a side I have taken the lead out of the dizzy center and grounded it on the head and got spark, then the next day it would have no spark then it would sometimes and currently none again. So I'm thinking its either something failing/on its way out and getting worse or possibly a wire somewhere not partly connected/not doing its job. I put a tester light between the coil positive (which has 12v when ignition is on) and the negative to …

If your looking to run a cdi type box like msd there's a little issue with the internally regulated distributors for k motors It's common knowledge we use the original dizzy wire and we add a coil positive wire for the electronic distributor. If you use an alternate ignition source for that added wire then you can use the cd box with the same wiring configuration as for a points ignition.

Hey guys! Just replaced my alternator and voltage regulator on my 79 corolla wagon with a 2tc. It charges the battery but ive been having to leave it for about 2 days for when i go to school. I come back and the battery is dead. Eversince i replaced the alt and reg the chg light on the dash turns on when i turn the car off. I'm guessing the light is draining the battery. Anyone have any ideas on why this is?

Hey guys, got a twin cam ae82, been swapped to a red top bigport. Upon buying I was told when the air condition/vent fan is turned on it blows the main engine fuse. Is this a common problem? Or just a little short somewhere? I would also like to get the air conditioning happening again, is it worth it? Cheers

Hi folks, Just thought I'd share the successful wiring of spotlights onto my 1999 (AE112R) Corolla. I thought it would be very helpful, as searching the entire internet for a correct wiring diagram is a day's job in itself. Most folks know about the negatively switched headlights in Corollas, and the associated difficulties in adding additional lighting. A lot of posts claim that the only way to do it is to tap into both the common and/or hi beam earth wires behind one of the headlights, but the following way avoids splicing into the massive loom, and thus keeps the messiest work inside the car, away from the elements. I copied the following diagram, which was poste…

Got up on Saturday morning & started my KE30 Rolla, but no fuel or temperature gauge movement. Everything else worked fine, & no blown fuses. As the fuel tank & level sender is at one end of the car, & the temperature sensor is on the engine, it was a fair bet it was not a wiring issue. Then I remembered it will be that little voltage regulator, that sits on the rear of the dash assembly, & powers the fuel & temperature gauges. These two gauges run at 7 – 8 volts instead of 12Vdc, so that the two gauges read accurately, whether the battery is fully charged, or very low. So out with the dash assembly, to have a look at the regulator. Now I ha…

OK, so this will be my info log, as well as my question. So I have searched the internet and looked at all the guides and read all the threads (Toymods, AE86DC and Rolla Club), but don't seem to find any specifics to my case. Long story, my High Roof AE71 Panel Van body harness is stuffed due to part out, (where I bought as rolling shell) aftermarket ECU, Stereo, alarm and keyless entre were removed with little respect for the original harnesses, a rats nest with chops and hacks, not usable. I was given a warning from seller at time of purchase that the engine and body wiring needed to be redone. I found a KE70 High roof wagon and removed engine and bo…

Hi, I recently acquired a KE70 with a (I believe) 4AGE big port red and black top 16v (although not certain since rockers have been painted) with a t50 box. Problem is, reverse lights don't seem to come on, and upon inspection found nothing to be connected to the two-pronged plug thing on the gearbox. I have no idea where to get started on this problem, how to wire it up, where it should go into the loom, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Hey guys, I am in need of a new alternator, but as my car is such a shitbox I'd rather not spend $3-400 on it. Where would I find a suitable model at a decent price? $100-175? Much obliged. I should mention it's a 1.6L E100 CE.

I recently purchased a 2004 Echo for my daughter's first car, & it has proved to be a wonderful car. I've be going over it completely, & would now drive it anywhere, as it is so reliable. The drivers door actuator was playing up this week, so I have removed all the door lock mechanism & door handle. No mean feat, as there are lots of pivots & levers in there. The actuator is a sealed unit, & I would like to test it on the bench, to confirm it is completely dead. It has a 6 pin socket at it's base. I have scoured the internet looking for an identification diagram, for these 6 pins, and/or a wiring diagram for the 2004 Echo, but …

Hello, As an Adaptronic e420D ecu user, I'm a little dismayed that the forum has been taken down from the Adaptronic site. It seems to reflect that they are no longer selling the 420 series or 440 series, only the modular ecus from now on. Thats all well and good, but what about the people who have an e420D or similar ecu, and dont have a proper ecu manual. I understand what I need to pretty well after having the e420c before the e420d and understanding the control system pretty well from the old manual, but to me, its a bit disappointing that there is no accurate or updated manual for the e420D, they added dozens of features to the ecu over the years and didn't a…

G'day guys I'm fairly new to the k7 club, and may seem like an obvious question to most. But can someone with photos or simplified explanation on how I can hardwire my starter and power the button through a 12v switched supply, either head unit or something. It's only a temp fix, but I just want a simply way of drawings or something to, start the k7 with a push button, to bypass the ignition shit... That's stopping the car from cranking. Sorry if it's sounds dumb to you knowledgeable corolla enthusiasts, help is appreciated!

Hi Guys, I am having a 7K E engine fitted to a samurai and at the garage while painting they had removed and refitted the wiring harness. Engine works. But there is a component in the wiring that is missing and only i have the "clip" or the mount bracket kinda thing. I remember it to be a round thing sitting inside the bracket. I have included several pictures of the empty bracket and would like your help to identify and replace this. there are several open connectors I am not sure which is which. But i am sure that this bracket had a round thing in it. I was thinking that it could be a resistor or a condenser, may be something related to ignition system??? Apprecia…

Over the years, the ignition system, & how it functions; has shown itself, to become an area of our Rollas, that "non electrical" members, struggle with; especially when confronted with an "uncoperative", or "disfunctional" ignition system. The following article on the DIYAutoTune website, has got to be one of the best & clearest explanations, as to how ignition systems work, & what sort of issues are common. Read it a couple of times, & I think you will agree. https://www.diyautotune.com/news/tuning-tips/ignition-system-remix-by-greg-banish/ Cheers Banjo

We all do this at some time, but here is a variation of a method, I have used for years; which creates a wire join, in your engine bay; under the dash, or in the boot; that You will never have to revisit again, & will last as long as the car. https://youtu.be/lrIefG-bbj8 What is my variation ? Exactly the way this guy does it, but I then solder the joint, & the "shrink tubing" I use, has a heat activated adhesive on the inside, which will not let any moisture inside the joint; which could ultimately cause corosion to any exposed metal of the wire joint. Cheers Banjo

There is nothing more stable, in terms of an electronic ignition system, triggering system; than a "crankshaft mounted", iron toothed, or "flying magnet", trigger wheel. Stable, because there is no need, at all for a C.A.S. (Camshaft Angle Sensor), if You use a trigger wheel with a missing tooth, & run the ECU in a "Wasted Spark" ignition only, or EFI Ign & Inj mode. There is plenty of room usually, down on the crankshaft pulley, to mount quite large diameter wheels, which results in good clean On/Off spacings for either VR or Hall Effect sensors. However, I must admit; that if You are a novice, & going to carry out this mod from scratch, with the engine …
