hi all, i have been on this site for a while now. I picked up this 1971 ke25 which was a bit of a mess. it was a stolen and recovery vehicle, which the owner no longer wanted to keep. She sold it to me around 4yrs ago. I have been working on it in my spare time, trying to find all the rare bits that i needed to replace. It was a toyoglide when i got it, but the glide in it was gone. I converted it myself to a 5spd manual. I have completed all the mechanical work on this car myself, and i mean myself. No one was even around to give me a hand to lift or hold anything. interior is near excellent condition. I have replaced all the bushes , ball joints , tie rod ends. Rebuilt the front caliper, added a set of brand new rotors. Added extractors and a 1inch 3/8 exhaust system. I have been aiming to get the car back on the road, then once its on the road i will be taking it off the road and stripping it down for a full paint job. i realise its the reverse way of doing things but i want to be sure that this car will drive and handle great before i go spending any money on body work or paint. I have test driven the car and it drives nicely. I'm planning on keeping it pretty stock as possible in the driveline area. They are just some pictures i dug out from the last four years of building the car. I will post more pics later on. I also had to weld up the rear boot lock area as it were destroyed when it was stolen. its yet to be repaired fully, needs to still be grinded back and painted. I'm also planning on upgrading the brake system with a tandem master cylinder , and possibly better calipers, as the original ke25 ones are pretty crappy. cheers , and hope to see other rollaclub members on the road.

Can anyone help me with a k50 speedo gear drive. I'm a little lost as to which gear I need to suit my gear box. Can anyone tell me if the worm gear on the output shaft has a identifying number or colour on it? I have rang everywhere but to no avail . lp me with a k50 speedo gear drive. Thanks parrot for the picture. Yesterday I rang Toyota Australia and asked fOr some help to identify what my car is. They guy informed me that rooted records kept only go back to 1973. This is because toyota australia bought out the old AMI (is what I think he said ) . Any records of vehicles before 1973 weren't handed over or were lost in the transition . He informed me of a guy in Queensland I should try and ring, as he may know alot more than many in Australia, as he is a older guy who used to sell these cars back in the day. I'm yet to ring him . The guy at Toyota also told me there were two different model sprinters that he had listed o a sales brochure from 1971. It listed a sprinter and a sprinter sl model. I will ring this guy in queensland to see if I can find out more . Thanks heaps parrot, I have never seen that ke25 bonnet before. They must be rare??
-
Well if this is correct there are a load of people out there who think they have a ke25 sprinter. I have been looking on google and cars exactly like mine come up title as ke25 sprinters. I'm kinda skeptical to the info provided on the net anyways. Parrot a pic will be great thanks
-
I think I may have a ballast from a ke10 cos it has spade terminals on it, I believe the ke25 had nuts on the threads where the wires mount this could be my problem, but pics will be awesome thanks
-
Thanks heaps , I realize that's how it's wired up , I just really need a pic of a ke20 or 25 engine bay, to see what colour wires they use to keep it original . Can somone supply a ke20/25 pic of their coil
-
Hi , can anyone post a photo of their coil wiring on a 3k motor. I'm a little confused as to which correct wire is ran to the ballast . I have a black/ yellow trace wire which is ran to the + side of the coil. If someone has a unmodified engine bay can they please take a pic of the coil and ballast area. I have a feeling I am missing a wire. I want to keep engine bay original . Or can u SMS a pic to 0424666915 cheers

I was informed by a guy in England that these were in fact sprinters , as that badge was only fitted to sprinter models. I sent him photos of my car and he said it was a basic sprinter. He worked for Toyota back in the 1970's so I took it that he was correct
-
I believe all 1971 model flat front ke25's brought to Australia were sprinters. They are the ke25's with the triangular badges on the guards with what seems to be a Lightening bolt in the badge. Correct me anyone if I'm wrong

One position on the switch is for constant light on, the other position is for door switch when door is open .
