  1. Yeah well i can't actually put sedan lights on a Hardtop can I. Plus these lights are as close to sedan lights as i'll get.

    My New Ke55

Hmm  , that car looks familiar. Great job. Starting to take shape.
  4. **UPDATENESS** Well, needing to make space in the garage to that i can get a whole car worth of KE50 parts in. So i decided to rip out the old seats and put in the ones i bought. I forgot to take a before pic  I hate it when i do that. But anyway, i took a pic of the seats so you can get the feeling of how they looked. Old Front- New Front- Old Back- New Back- Sadly this one came out blured. I'm missing the drivers seat cause when i bought it i didn't realise that due to the accident the car was in the seat buckled and twisted. :) Looks like i'll be goign to the wreckers on Tuesday for a replacement. This has gotten me thinking about what i should do when i have the interior re-trimmed. I was wanting black door trims, black seats and the car is going to be a metalic orange. But the current trims have grown on me and gotten me thinking. I would have the seats done in this colour and have the headrests black, yes?? Would match how these trims look.
  5. Considering that they look so much like the KE20's they are pretty far behind in the times for a 1984 model. Not saying that's bad, its a great looking car but what ever country got this missed out on a lot of mod cons.
  6. The early KE30 clocks were removable and an optional extra i believe. I've seen a KE38 wagon at the wreckers that didn't have a radio and had a Toyota badge like cover over the holes.
  7. The one in my KE30 just sits there. It doesn't move. I plan on screwing the one in my Hardtop in.
  8. God, brings back memories of when me and my mates made a video of us gang raping a "poof" (cushion, not to be confused with another type)
  9. Okay, for starters, the dash. Its meant to be cracked. The temp gauge, its meant to be at the same level as the fuel, or both on empty. The clock, if it works there's something wrong. :y: Okay seriously, these are all problems you may find. Dashes crack, fuel/temp gauge plays up and the clock plays up. These all can be fixed plus most people decide to get rid of the crappy clock. Plus i was told tonight by a mate that you can get the Quartz clock fixed for free as that brand has a lifetime warranty.
  10. Okay, so we know that there is something wrong with all KE30/KE55 Quartz Clocks. They sometimes work, sometimes not. What I want to know is has anyone had this occur to them... I'm driving along, i look down. I read the time on the retarded clock and realise that its the same as the time on my radio. Its pretty trippy considering the clock starts and stops when ever it wants, and for it to tell the correct time (While still ticking). But this has happened to me like up to 4 times now. Well, i just had to share and wanted to know if its happened to anyone. My mate has a RA40 Celica and it has the same issues and has happened to him too. Jon. JiP_01

  13. With what we saw while under Lolla, she isn't goning to be finished any time soon.
  14. Okay, so its been a while since I've updated this thread. So here goes... So i found a place where there was an auto electrician and a re-trimmer next door to each other. I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone and have a couple things done... Here's the before pictures... My drivers seat had collapsed and torn. So i wanted to get it re-trimmed. Here's my wiper stalk. As you can see it has Intermittent Wipers, but not wired up. Wipers after (Excuse the darkness, just took the photos) Dunno why i included this. My seat after. This i will need to take a day shot of. As usual i am truly unhappy with this one and with reason... Firstly, as i only had the bottom half done i wanted it to match the rest. He used brown stitching while the old parts had white. Secondly, it is crooked. Not by a little but a lot. He claims that it would have been like that before hand and its not cause of him. this is the reason i haven't updated this thread. I've been meaning to get a second opinion. Not happy and will not be going back to him with SL2. This I picked up at the wreckers. I think it gives the car abit of extra "Oldness". I also found one of those windshield type things that go around the drivers window. I might end up grabbing one. And finally, after at least a year I have installed my 5 SPEED!!! This is Lolla at Des's place. That's my 5 speed on the floor waiting to go in and Des behind Lolla. This is the SKANKY, CRUSTY OLD 4 SPEED that use to be in the car. It ran great but i wanted a 5th gear as i have to travel more than 1km to go to work now. :y: Lastly, the gaping hole where my 4 SPEED once sat.
  15. Looking good so far, got any more pics?? Is that steering wheel from a KE35, or is it from a KE50?? It looks like the one i got on my KE50.
  16. **UPDATE** Well today i got out and did some work on the back end. This is a photo of the old boot and tail lights. The boot had no lock and was easy for someone to break in to it. A pic of the new boot which i got from SL1. Lastly, the 81 model tail lights which i got from FLAT OUT (Casey). Sadly they are useless without the wiring in both tail lights. I'll have to track some down closer to home. Next to come are the 81 model seats which are awaiting installation. To be continued...
  17. Well here we go. Its time to make changes to the car. Since i like the 81 model i can begin changes with all the parts i have collected in the past 6 months. (That's half a garage of parts). thanks to Redwarf for the headlights and one of the 81 model grills I've collected. First up... Old front end. Change of bonnet. Change of Apron. All the blue parts came from a Hardtop i found at the wreckers. I became known there cause i hollowed out almost everything from that car. eg diff $10 New headlights. More to come like 81 Model Door trims (not sure if I'll fit them, don't like the look, But like the pockets), Seats, overrated dash, A/C, tail lights, SL1's Boot and drivers door. I'll see how much i can get done today with my hang over. :S To Be Continued...
  18. Well, here it goes, (excuse my drunkenness and i write this up, Thank god for spell check.) I've been collecting parts for this car for over 6 months now and I've finally decided to write up a thread. I'll start with the first one. I named her Skanky-Loue cause i liked the sound of the name and because of the skanky 4K engine. I bought her on the 16th of October 2006 with the full intention of doing her up. I started to strip her back and planned to have the rust cut out then repaint her myself in Ford XR-5 Orange. I planned on making her look like a 1981 model KE55, the one with the square headlights. I never liked the square headlight look but over time it had grown on me. I like the tidiness that it brings, plus it looks best on a Hardtop. Other factors were that the 81 model had all the extras and i wanted attach all these modifications to it. I must admit that what started it for me was "Rolla's" KE55's headlights & bumpers, that's the look I'm after. That and the 81 models tail lights look far better than the round ones that come with the other models. The red KE55 on arrival. (SL1) The read KE55 (SL1) In her final resting place. Beginning to pull SL1 apart. SL1 All covered up without wheels. this is funny. Living on a main road bought so much attention to this car. While no ones home, (Or people thinking no ones home) some people felt compelled to view what was under the tarp. Was furious when i found out people were touching my car while i wasn't home. Me mate Des helping me remove the "Skanky" 4K with the help of Med Mans Engine Crane. Engine almost out. Engine GONE Due to my crappy gravel driveway, we used the wheel barrow to transport the engine. Oh and Med Man's Carine helped a lot too. :hmm: As you can see, the tire is flat :S The old dash and molested fascia. Before junking the Skank i had to try something out. I'm not a fan of dash mounted toggle switches so i wanted to see if i could place several Demister switches in place. It worked well. A bit off topic but i thought I'd add in this find of mine. Its a Overdrive switch from a Crown. Pity i don't have a 4 speed auto. Just before replacing SL1 i bought the plates that I wanted to go with the car. Black with Silver writing. So my mate Cameron was selling his 1980 KE55 hardtop. I went and had a view and fell for it. It had a lot less rust than SL1 and i felt it would be better. Skanky-Loue 2 at Cameron's the day i viewed it (and payed deposit, towing fee for his new KE17 Sprinter.) SL2 on arrival to my house. Another angle. GROUP SHOT. All i needed was one pair of jumper leads and Lolla. She is such a reliable car. To be CONTINUED

It was overrated. The only reason i knew it was a Sprinter was because of yours. I'd say it was restored.

  22. Not sure about regular silicone, but you'll probably need a torch while in the boot. Your not looking for light shining though holes but water dripping or running.
  23. Hey, I'd agree with the fact that you should put some sort of silicon around the tail lights. The black stuff that a window installer would use around a fixed window. If you've ever removed a tail light you would have noticed that it stuck to the car body at first, or it had something "black" around the light. I sent my car to my panel beater and he did the "man in the boot with torch and hose" thing.
  24. Close, but no. Its already been organised. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=12768
