Really, what a nice gesture.

WoW, Love the dash.

The budget models would have gotten the basics. The better models also got passenger side rear views i think. Either that or it was an option like air conditioning.

WoW, that car looks soo HOT!! Reminds me of the one my mate has. Really similar. :) **EDIT** Can't wait to drive in it.

Got four now and just picked up another free KE50 worth of parts today. :sob: That'd make 5 if it wasn't just parts. I took photos of the four this morning when i got home from work. Took alot of effort to move them since two of them have flat batteries so i did like a total of 10 or so jump starts. :) shhhh.... mum doesn't know about that last one yet. **EDIT** The red hardtop will hopefully be going soon. I just need to pull all the doors, boot, windows and cut other sections away.

I would never pick that out as a Toyota. Tho, the bumper, apron and indicators remind me of a KE2X and the strip that goes around the bonnet/quarters remind me of a KE3X. Who knows, I've probably seen this and just thought its a Datsun. Any tips in telling them apart??

Cool, i'll pass that on to management.

WoW, looks hot and its in BrisVegas :) Do you have another shot of the front end?? That grille looks so much like my KE30's grille.

That is one of my pet hates. Most of the time these people don't know what the switch that turns it on is and don't realise its on. It bugs the crap out of me.

Okay, 1974/75 the KE3X's started. They had a very basic one piece dash. They had strap door handles and very basic seat belts as seat belts became mandatory in 75. The seats were one piece and vinyl (not sure if cloth was available) The fuel cap was Chrome and the rear vent had the central stripe chromed too. The bonnets had Chrome flutes, a criss cross type grill and all chrome bumpers. The engine was a 3K. An optional extra in the day was a trip meter speedo, a rear demister and maybe even A/C and 5 Speed. Panel vans came out with passenger side mirrors too. The Cars available in the series were the KE30 two door sedan, KE30 four door sedan, KE35 Hardtop Coupe and the KE36 Panel Van/Wagon. In 1977 they began to update the KE3X series by changing over Dashes to the KE55 two piece dash. They also received a center console. They begun to bring out Cloth seats, the door handles were the solid black ones that continued on to the KE55's. The bumpers remained the same while the bonnet changed with built in vents with the slats going down the bonnet. The grille changed to a more horizontal one. The fuel cap became more of a silver colour while the rear vents became plain black. The speedo changed with a max speed of 180 (from 160) and the counter went from 6 to 7 digits. In late 1978 the KE55 was bought out. It had the same dash, different rear vents (more angled), the bonnet received a power bulge, different chrome strip and the vent had slats going across the bonnet. The engine was upgraded from 3K to 4K (1200 to 1300). The grille was replaced with another which had more chrome and moulded in with the power bulge. That lasted till 1981 when they updated the car one last time. At this stage KE70's had been out for two years so they had to do something to sell the old shape. The car received a complete upgrade with Square headlights, new honeycomb grille, narrower chrome strip on the bonnet, new tail lights and door trims that came over the door and up to the window. Other items that were available on the more expensive models were AM/FM radio, Intermittent wipers, seats with removable headrests, carpet + cloth + vinyl on their door trims, Pockets in the front door trims, Metallic paint, 5 Speed, wrap around bumpers and special rims. From what i gather the KE55E is the sedan, KE55S is the Auto hardtop (I think), KE55G was the Manual Hardtop and KE38 is the Panno/Wagon. Other things not mentioned is that the Hardtops had a shelf under the dash. Well that's all i got. Hope it helps. Jon.

Sounds great. My new KE50 is up on the list too now :jamie:

Was at the wreckers and saw this in a square headlight KE55. I think it may be an aftermarket job but am not sure. What makes me think aftermarket is the fact that it says "Trunk". But on the other hand it is in the square headlight model plus the boot part looks like it could have been original. Any theories??
-
$220.00, that fixed the sag, worn padding and all the tears in the bottom half of the drivers seat. I think it was in 81 when the square headlight model got all the new parts. (int. wipers, 5 speed standard (i think), Removable headrests, square headlights, updated tail end, updated bumpers, FM radio and door trims that go over the sill with pockets in the front doors.)

I car was named The beast by the original owners and my brother. But that was because of its plates.

There are usually witnesses. They help. A friend of the family had his brand new car, (one mummy and daddy bought), totally smashed up that his insurance, replaced it all, because he stopped to help someone being beaten up on the side of the road. It makes you wonder where the society is going.

I just had half of my drivers seat re-trimmed. The guy didn't just match the colour, he matched the vinyl to Vinyl Toyota used back in the day. Granted it doesn't look 100% the same but that's because the seats have like 26 years of wear in them. I'm sure if you go to a professional they'd be able to match a "Black" coloured vinyl to one that Toyota used. I'd also go to someone that does a good job too. I wasn't too happy with mine. Its crooked and the stitching was done in brown instead of white.

My brother in law has a friend that had a "rack" near his sun visor that held golf balls. Well, you can guess what they were used for. Not that I'd condone such an act but some people don't care about others and some take things too far. My sister was cut off, she mouthed off something along the line of "f@$k Whit" and the lady hopped out, went up to her car and punched her in the eye.

Hmmm, Mums birthday, i'll have to see. Plus The roster for June ain't out yet.

SPOTTED Haven't seen this before, But according to both badges on the tail end its a Corolla Sprinter. Sorry i couldn't get any better shots, the f@$k whit in front of me just wouldn't move, left massive gaps between him and the cars in front then in the end STOPPED for an amber light. Some people...

I really think if they wanted their P's by now they would have gotten it. Tho, there is this one manager that worked at out store who just couldn't do cash right. No matter how much time was spent by anyone explaining how to do it she just kept f@$king up. Like, her cash would be down $900.00 and she doesn't know what she did. Now she's at a store with one of the new automatic safes, apparently there is no way you can stuff up your cash with one of these, but, you guessed it, she does. Some people just wont get it no matter how much time or effort is spent. These people should just embrace the fact that they will never be able to drive and learn to take public transport cause in the end, they are putting OUR lives at risk.
