ha,ha, is cool, not being a wanker, just trying to explain, i know it is all hard to understand, i knew not much about drag racing at some point in time aswell, we all have to start somewhere cheers darren

You don't offend me, i am trying to teach you, 1/4 mile time doesn't having anything to do with how fast a car is when you ride in it, mph does. A wrx would not get near this thing, i Know....i had one which i modified from a stocker to a full blown Gt30/microtech..all the bullshit, over 400hp when does a stock wrx run low 13's?????? the 99 and below struggle with a low 14 at high 90mph at best, and the ugly shaped newer ones struggle to run mid to high 14's, our stock 3.5L magna had not trouble keeping up with them.... it ran 14.6 at 96mph! The diffenerence between low 13's and low 14's is absolutly massive!!!, let alone the 9+mph trap speed difference (6 car lenghts), you would have to spend $10,000 on a wrx to do that...trust me..been there..done that 10 grand on the ke20(which trust me is not alot of money to spend on a driveline) would be into the 9's...that's why you bother! cheers darren

God people write some shit, oil squirters will not lower combustion pressure, that will blow a SR20DE NA pistons ringland to bits. The oil squirters would make next to no difference. It would be a material or different ringland design, or detonation that kills them. As For the redtop/blacktop, stop reading magazines and quoting shit, turbo for turbo, eg both have 2530's, there is not a kilowatt in it, flowbenchs mean jack shit when it comes to turbo cars. I have NEVER seen a difference with power figures except the last of the blacktops ALWAYS make more turbo for turbo:), must have bigger camshafts. cheers darren

Ha,ha, I can stop :) I reckon the conrods have another 100hp in them yet then! I made that power on 12psi. Yep the o-ringing at that level "should" hold the head down, i had it lifting at the 300-310hp mark. When i got to 260 it started to get harder to make the power. Change the cam and put the biggest jet in the gas system :) , and the power will be well up there. cheers darren

what type of dyno was it on? a Dyno dynamics or a hub style dyno, it would make perfect sense on a hub dyno. If i work out the math, the motor would have to make 180-200hp at the flywheel at only 6000rpm, without the gas on a DD dyno. You need revs to make power in a naturally aspirated motor, and they would be massive revs, 8500rpm-9000rpm. I doubt it because the K motors are the biggest pile of crap aswell, compared to even a A series, let alone a big 2.0 crossflow OHC cam style of motor. And even one of those will only make 130hp-140hp at the flywheel at 6000rpm with big comp(12.1), and a nice head, carby's, but baby cam. Don't get upset mate, you are doing thing different to everyone else and should be applauded for that, i can't wait to see how you go when everything sorted, i just like details and hate it when stuff doesn't make sense. cheers darren

My block was o-ringed, fine to around 140rwkw and 20psi, and use a graphite head gasket, I asked what dyno it was because there is no way in the world it would make that on a DD dyno. It would have to make at least 130-140hp(around90-100rwkw) at the wheels without nitrous., and it also does this at only 6000rpm, makes no sense, it would have to rev to 8500-9000rpm just to do this! considering the people i know with money no object 4K motors, that only make that at the flywheel (135hp)(around 65rwkw),and will happily spend another couple of $1000 for another 5hp, 300cc will not do it, and they spin them to 8500rpm. G200 gemini motor, escort pinto 2L and L20's Nissans struggle to make 100rwkw naturally aspirated with big bucks and all the shit. I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to see it sorted with more gas, just doesn't add up? cheers 'darren

Mine lifted heads at that power level, the head gasket always looked fine. What type of dyno was this on?,The torque is a lot lower than a turbo car. awesome achievement, i wonder at what level the rods will break?, i had nitrous for mine but was scared to fit it. I should have fitted a CDI unit though, have only just really found out how good they are, good luck, can't wait to see how it goes. cheers darren

Ummm, the people who say 13.0 at 108mph, need to know about drag racing. This is a vl turbo motor for a start, they do 15.5 in a commordore, not 14's as stated, secondly you look at the mph, 108 mph trap speed indicates even with half decent traction the car would run 12.5 easy as. The car was a total heap of shit, banged in there, it would have cost $100 to fit it in there, and the motor came out of his commordore as he put a killer stroker 308 in it, which has run 10.9's last time i heard. My ke10 only ran 13.3 at 108mph with a turbo 5K on little stocky rims, the mph is low because the exhaust manifold was hanging of, leaving no boost in 3rd, the car would have trapped 113-114mph with it fixed as with even less power it would keep up with car trapping 111mph easily. From a race at anyhting above 20km an hour, the 1/4 mile time means nothing the car with the highest mph will always win:) cheers darren
-
What about the ke20 with the abortion RB30T conversion in adelaide ran 13.0 at 108mph stock with no cooler on stocky little rims and diff:) cheers darren

A stocky cam, then a regrind by repco, had about 260 degrees duration, then s stomper billet Crow with 300 degrees duration:), it lumped till 2500rpm,but was the only way to get it to rev to 7200rpm:)(peak power)., I woudn't go over 270/280 degrees duration . The more power i made, the less rpm it was at, was like it hit a bottleneck quicker everytime. I still made 140 rwkw on 20psi, pump fuel with the baby 260 at 6000rpm!. the big one lifted power another 15rwkw with a few other mods, but most importantly, the more boost, the more power it made, even at 24psi it would make more power with more boost., but the 260, nosed over at 20psi. So yeah 156rwkw at 7200rpm on 24psi, the new owner can try for over 160:), It will need a head stud kit though, it started lifting the head of the block. cdheers

rolla 20, what master cylinder/booster and front brakes you have?? cheers darren

An the HKS 2530, which is rated around 400-450hp in garret rating, not HKS underated rating. It wasn't laggiest in the slighest on a 5k, i only used 3rd and 4th on th street, as with 3.9's it had fullboost in 3rd at 70km, bang 4th and go to 160km, The 300 degree duration cam wrecked that:), but made a lot more power, if i never changed the cam, i probally would still have that motor. With the baby cam it used to be dead even from a second gear roll on, up to redline in 4th with my mates commordore, which ran 12.2 at 111mph in full street trim. I would have chopped him with the cam, but he woudn't run me:) cheers darren

My T2 made 55rwkw on only 5psi, when i had one on a stock 4k, there are 2 diffrerent ones, unleaded and leaded. I had the small one, the larger one would be better and easier to get and not laggy eaither, can't remember which one is which. It's just not the power, it's the way it FILLS up the torque curve which makes them fun, and faster than they have a right to be. They only need 55-60 rwkw in a ke-10 to do low 15's, 70rwkw to get into low 14's With 90rwkw they will be in to the low/mid 13's at 100-102mph:), good 1.8/1.7 60ft's of course cheers darren

A t2 of a exa, et turbo works well, not laggy cheers darren

Yep, liberty came out with 2 turbos depending on yr. the vf10 and the TD05, something with around 270 degrees duration would be good and not to lumpy, but make sure you tell them it is for a turbo car, i would get Tighe camshafts to do it cheers darren
-
I will go against the grain and say the 4k starlet injection manifold is a wonderful thing for turbocharging, The plenum is a bit small though and makes it hard to work on a motor, especially in a ke10. It makes a lot of torque which spools a turbo quicker and the fact that it will kill top end power a bit doesn't matter on a turbo car as most Turbo K motors peak power is only around 6000 rpm. cheers darren
-
Basically at the end of the day, you have to match the camshaft powerband to the turbo that is used powerband, what''s the IHI vf10 out of?? IS it the Liberty camshafts definitly matter in a meduim to full on turbo motor, there is only so much air you can cram in to a motor, and in the end the camshaft dictates how long and how much air goes in. cheers darern

Stock rods are fine for 160rwkw and massive revs, no point in changing them Pistons:Precision hypatecs cast pistons are tough as, you will never/ever break them unless you are an idiot, held up to 23psi fine so far., They are cheap Stock carby's are fine for blowthrough up to, 85rkwkw 4k/ 100rwkw/5k which you will make on about 12psi with a T25 or ihi td04, the stock motor will last a reasonbly along time if you tune it properly and it is in decent condition to start of with. The standard headbolts can only handle about 150rwkw combustion pressures and the heads lift. head stud time. Angelas car makes 156rwkw on 23psi on pump fuel. Once you get to 145rwkw you are pushing shit up hill, i don't think the head flows much more It would make about 165rwkw on 30psi and race fuel a heap more torque. From memory it makes 150rwkw on 20psi and with baby cam and smaller exhaust valves it made 140rwkw on 20psi. 10rwkw for another 800rpm of powerband.(7200rpm) A 5K spools a turbo so much quicker than a 4k so it is MUCH better to start of with from memory it spooled a T25 400-500rpm quicker cheers darren
