throw one out and throw the other in, apart from maybe having the shifter hole further back but take 2 secs with a angle grinder

Little red- thats a centrifugal blower, more like a turbo but spun of the motor, they make more boost as revs rise, A properly matched turbo will make a lot more mid range torque than these and more top end. They are easy on drivetrains through, with a smooth power delivery. Was fishin as we are talking about turbo vs superchargers and more the rootes style of supercharger. Rootes style of superchargers have no top end, they feel like a big motor, and compared to a turbo they have NO top end , when talking about pump fuelled street cars( which is the biggy as rootes superchargers heats soak the f@$k out of everything and to make any power need something other than pump fuel to stop them pinging there guts out, even worse most aren't intercooled) cheers darren

Well said, i have always noticed that the Sc superchargers just felt like you put a bigger motor in, stacks of bottom end, but they trail of with power the same way a na motor does up top, good fun for about 10 minutes doing skids, than after that i get totally bored as they have absolutely nothing in the top end. Whereas the midrange torque of a turbocharger and top end is totaly opposite. I woudn't say the supercharged motor makes more torque, they just make it in a different part of the powerband. The top fueller debate is pointless, it is a class of racing to a set of rules, like most classes, as so far from anything resembling whats good for a street car cheers darren

yep.. i used to have one on mine, shit of a thing to work on when they are in a ke10 cheers darren

How do the mounts fit with the wider block?, i thought that they bolted in ke30's with KR42R townace engine mounts cheers darren
-
I am no expert, but i don't think the 5K head bolts onto the 7k, yep you need new mounts and the sump cut and shut to fit it. Rods wise, who knows what they would take?? as long as you don't rev it to hard they might be fine??, seen stranger things in my time with pushing rods to the limit...revs is worse than boost thats for sure.

Man, i can't begin to tell you how much this thing is a credit to you guys, good job saving it, as people have taken ke10's to the tip with heap less work to do than that good job cheers darren
-
Does this apply to all rollas?, as theres 3?, different engine mounts over the rolla range. The reason i asked is that you can buy the 7K KR42R engine mounts brand new from toyota , they are $150 trade for the pair, but would save a lot of hours of work and be cheaper to buy if they worked in my ke10 cheers darren

Didn't think of that TAZ, i recon your spot on, that would be about 115 -120rwkw, which would be pretty much on the mark if everything worked properly, and would still be a absolutely awesome effort out of that setup matts bottom end is better for horsepower, he has more compression than mine, mine was just stronger, if you combined the bits from our 2 setups, you would have the most powerful motor
-
Yep but there really no point in putting valves in them at all, plus you coudn't put mitsubishi valves on the exhaust side and gemini on the intake, they would hit each other,They are very close with standard intake, mitsubishi exhaust valve. Plus the intake and intake valve is not the restriction with any k motor head, the exhaust port is the biggest restriction and the valve/port ratio is pretty much spot on anyway, no good having the worlds biggest valves when they just hit restricted ports. Would be good to see some flow figures of peoples ported heads woudn't it and see how much people have got out of them, especially some of the old school racing guys that put them in the open wheelers cheers darren
-
You can fit mitsubishi colt 4G32 exhaust valves to K heads, not much to be gained though fitting bigger valves to K motors and the port to valve ratio is about right once ported, the ports limits the flow in these heads not the valves. But getting back to that 3K, can you get that dyno sheet, as that is easily the most powerful K motor in australia:), and theres about a million reasons why it shoudn't even get anywhere near that power(its more powerful than datsun a series motors and they have a much higher V/E rate) Its somehow more effienct than madrollas motor and my motor with 200cc less capacity, not to mention theres no way to stop the heat created by a turbocharger with draw-through. I haven't even seen datsun L20 motors with larger cams/same 200rwkw capable turbocharger 20psi, get anywhere near that power in draw through form with much larger flowing head and another 700cc capacity Whens hegoing to race it?, in a ke10 that would be crazy cheers darren

Your a machine:), We have the same time table, but the time you go out in the shed is the time i spend with my wife otherwise i would be divorced, ha,ha. Is this project going to be for sale like the others once completed? I check on your website weekly , have become a bit of a fan of your work:) cheers darren
-
How in gods name do you get time to do all this stuff with kids mate, i don't get it:), i have 2 project cars and not enough time for one. Do you hide in the shed to get away from the wife, ha,ha, or are you one of those people that needs no sleep and stays out in the shed till the early hours every night...must have your trade secret:), if you could bottle it, i will take a box full:) love your work and enthusiam, can't wait to see what you do next cheers darren
-
Be watching this one closely as i have a 7k to put in my ke10 now, be interested to see how much the sump needs modifying, beautiful car you have there cheers darren
-
I just want the old school hks stickers, the love heart one look like a roxy sticker. That exhaust mani would flow plenty, enough for anyones k motors around here, thats for sure cheers darren
-
No its very real and is what would fix the hi- comp/boost problem without taking any comp out
-
Make some, i had problems with bending them, got 308 manley pushrods and cut them to length. Then go get some slant six pushrods from a valiant, they have removable ends/cups, heat them up and pop them of and fit them to the new pushrods, what was the problem with the crow ones?

water injection is your friend

The suspense is killing me

What nexts, a coke can around the fuel pump:)
-
I always thought they put a slighlty larger camshaft in the 4k for that model onwards and it made a bit more power ,I could be complety wrong though
-
Wow, what a spun out setup!,though i has seen everything till i saw that intake manifold turbo looks like a GT25 with a T3 footprint if you look at the comp cover, looks like it has the 400hp 30/40 style Gt25 comp cover. cheers darren
-
yes please and a elec dizzy if anyone comes across one cheers darren
-
Yes, but no competition for you guys, Its going to be a stock 7K with injection if i can find one, if i can't be carby, but the cars still setup for injection so would be easier for me and a lot nicer to drive. RX4 looks really nice:) cheers darren
