On what motors? k motors? In the olden days that was thought to be correct, same with people saying it wasn't worth porting heads on turbo cars. These days there are SO many results to back it up, that it is definitly a "old wifes tale" Most of the cams that lost power in the olden days, had to much overlap, at the end of the day, most camshaft people where guessing back then(and that wasn't really that long ago, less than 10yrs)Not like they took every single motor to a dyno and tested them, just ground what they "thought" was right. I really started to see good results with turbo cars when people started to bring in all the japanese cams for import motors, or in the case of a peculair workshop like JPC with vl's where they actually get 5-6 cams ground to there specs and dyno them back to back. But K motor wise, theres still lots to test!, most guys in here use atmo grind cams with small LSA's cheers darren

You can run big duration and lift in a turbo car, but just make sure the camshaft has a wide lobe separation(114 or higher usually) The current camshaft in my Rb30 run 290 advertised duration([email protected]) and 520" of lift it has a 118 L/S though. For a K motor i was looking at the tighe 104 or 240 and they said they could regrind it for me with a 112 or 114 lobe separation for turbo use. Think i am going to go with the 240 with a 114 l/c cheers darren

Be a .64 housing, all the nissan T28's with 25/28 footprints are(except the Gti-R), the .86's are aftermarket garret usually(think the gtir had one though), and the .48's for nissans are only on the t25G's. and the fronts are all the same unless you get a aftermarket garret, like the .70's like on the 2860RS etc. Not that the big comp cover makes any difference on t28's except look pretty. From memory the t28 comp wheel has 50 percent more flow than the T25G comp wheel. I reckon my s15BB turbo had fullboost at 3800-4000could be wrong though, was a lllooonngg time ago, Its not worth hi-flowing these days, changing a exhaust housing is the most i would do these days, as garret make so many performance variants of the t28 its better just to buy one of theres so its all matched. I reckon a S15 turbo with the .48 t25G exhaust would rule, but i reckon you will like the .64 housing on that turbo i have a funny feeling.. with those wheels that are in them, they actually do work well with a 5K. Cam wise you guys(and i have talked with matt about it before), need to muck around with lobe separations, that cam you have taz is a big mother, but has a 108 lobe separition, thats alot for a turbo car most 4 cyl have 112-114 typically at the most, you can tell its a atmo cam with that much overlap Might be something in it, might not, but someones got to try it. cheers darren

No way am i selling it, ha,ha, you can't buy them anymore, they are similiar to a garret 2860 these days anyway, just a little tiny bit more top end, and a tiny bit less spool. The S15 BB is probally a better choice for these motors anyway!, probally the best i loved mine, it was awesome, for better response get a 15psi actautor for them, think the stock one is pretty lazy from memory. I picked up a heap of spool and light throttle opening response with a ebc, felt like the motor has a point more compression with it, has stock actuator(8psi??) and running 20psi at the time. Have you dynoed it again with the power you ran at the drags?, I am busting to know what a t25G puts out, i had mine running flat out and it was the strongest spooling turbo and funniest coming on boost was REALLY strong, just blacktracked .. guessing it was the .48 housing. cheers darren

1.28 would be on the back bumper..lol, and would run 13.1 in my head working it out roughly. Well done though, theres heap more in it, you really need a locker or lsd to get into the 1.8 60ft or below , and advans are probally 1.7/.1.6 capable with caltracs and locker. Still did better than i ever have, think mine only did 2.0's, 2.1's or something on 145's though. Would be a large weight difference i would think, makes it a lot harder for you unfortunately. Be good to crack the magic 100mph barrier, more boost! I'll send you over my old hks turbo and you can give that a try...lol I remember my wife running 14.4 at 91mph with a 2.0 60 ft in our stock v6 magna executive manual yrs ago cheers darren

Ke25 kid, you say 7KT (turbo?), any spec on this or power, is it a adelaide car? where on this forum have people talked about it? cheers darren
-
Well done, is that 60 ft right? 1.28? can't be right at all ?????? if it is, sure its not a faulty timer, as the breakdown for the whole race and et vs mph is way off as far as i can see ? actually looks like more of a 2.0, 2.1 60 ft with et/mph?, otherwise it should be in the 13's?? more boost, will be interesting to see mph, vs psi gains. whats your highest mph?, do you know what it weighs?what where you other 60ft's? Does the strip not have half track mph/times, as that would also be a help in setting up the car as you can breakdown where you lost time. Well done, be good to see you times drop from here. Is it open wheeler still? cheers darren

It will be a dog, sr20 power maybe, but not sr torque!, it will turn the thing inside out in no time, without a full cage. Good for burnouts and drag racing, easy to loose when going sideways though, with the big pedulum up front cheers darren
-
Wheres the 7k turbo thread or where people where talking about it? never heard of it?
-
Nice job!, thats neat as, can't wait to see some good boost in its guts cheers darren
-
Thats why you don't run hotbox and flange gaskets, on 23psi they would last 10 mins. Just mig weld them all together like vl turbos weld wastegates onto stock manifolds and you'll never have another problem! cheers darren

One of my mates and his mate both run IPRA rx3' and ones a 808 thats still in the build , they both run BP motors and i think W-series supra boxes, they might be a bellhousing already made or modified. Boostworx in adelaide is the business anyways, and shaun is the guy to speak to, they have done a fair bit with the motors for IPRA now. http://www.boostworx.com.au/ The standard gearboxes are definitly the weakness in the familia, the Gtr familias run very low 12's with just a exhaust and a heap of boost(they have the biggest turbo standard aswell, still have weak rods though...) the rods would be fine at 230rwhp, but thats not what i would call good power, just average and easily achievable i am talking more 250rwkw+, whereas with a sr or ca18 you woudn't evenhave to think about it till around 280-300rwkw mark roughly cheers darren

What width are the ets on there now measured across the face?, 300 something millimetres. I want something with the same width as my 275/40/17 et street (280mm), but the 275/60/15 look to be only around 240-245mm wide. I want to fill the guards up again, and switch to a 28 inch tall radial cheers darren
-
They make easy power, they actually out power ca18T with absolute ease and seem to make more power than sr's even...(when the sr20's still have standard camshafts) ( and obviusly a hardcore sr's will outpower these motors, i am talking standard internals, camshafts, so i don't want any arguments) cheers darren
-
Nah standard archs, on a tiny 8.5 inch tyre..The biggest tyre i can fit is 280mm wide and 28 inch tall, how wide are your tyres?, i reckon i measured them up to 305-310mm?? yes your turbo is overkill at its finest, ha,ha, but i guess the motor will grow into it, just not on pump fuel, the funniest thing is you a have a easy 160+mph car sitting there with the wick turned up...your woudn't get me in a ke20 at 160mph, ha,ha! I only have the small gt4294 (850hp) one aswell, as i wanted the pump fuel numbers and the rb30sohc swallow no bloody air to use much bigger on pump fuel Thats about the only thing i would have done differently if it was mine used a 76GTS or a gt4508 (80mm) or one of those swantko turbos they rave about on supraforums, like kyle/6boost had for sale, but we all have different goals:). Yours is obviusly to have enough power to fly to the moon, ha,ha

Well done, 140mph street cars are no joke:), you will only get faster from here. My goal is 9.6at 145+mph in street trim. WHAT A MACHINE!! cheers darren
-
They have a high v/e rate, must have a good cylinder head on them ,and punch well above ther weight for there cubic capacity..they have weak conrods though, which limits them.
-
Glad the cars alright after powercruise, that must have been some seriouly scary stuff and would have been tragic if it wrecked. Hows the 88 on it??, happy with your turbo choice so far? (i only ask as i thought a mr.turbo 76GTS or gt4202 would have been more fun and make better pump numbers and then you could spray on top of that) What goals did you build it for this time? Awesome car man, you've built one of my dream cars right there!, keep the vids coming and get that website happening again..i need my fix :y: cheers darren

Thats classic, you managed to fill up half a carpark by yourself! haha nice collection:) cheers darren

I can tell you that the mazda motor is WAY more power productive than a CA18T They make FANTASTIC power, just weak in the conrods(although 4agze conrods fit and you can get aftermarket spool h-beam 4agze conrods for $450-500, problem solved) I would do that if i was doing a ke10 engine conversion project, and a 4agze-turbo next. I don't know about shaun , he still had it last time i asked and doesn't drive it, think he took it to heathcote last time and ran high 10's@ 124ish mph., which is not bad seeing it has a really oldschool T3/4 and powerglide. Gt30 or bigger and it would go into the 9's cheers darren
-
I know a guy buy the name of shaun had a fj20 in a ke10 with tubs in adelaide Was one of the quickest 4 cyl back in the day, but its JAMMED in there! not the easiest or nicest motor to use. I would go 4AGZE with a turbo if you have cash, or mazda BP motor would make a good conversion and make bulk grunt easy cheers darren

thats one of the best home gyms i have seen...big bucks! where did you get your konis from? cheers darren

Drag strip re-opens december 13th :) hope you have a good diff in it, with the boost wound up i used to be only be able to floor it 5-6 times from a roll before the axles would snap, i ran out of them quickly with a unlocked diff they lasted 7 yrs:)

your missing the best part, wheres the engine bay photos:) looks very nice cheers darren
